  1. They will not stamp passports at the Canadian border..trust me I begged and pleaded..I needed proof that my daughter was entering the US legally when I drove to get her...they would not do it..try explaning to immmigration how she got in the US legally with absolutely no proof..was not easy.

as for the I290B I also filed one of those and it took 5 months even tho the letter they send you when they receive it says 30 days

  2. I can tell you from experience that if you lawyer told you that you will get the $630 back..I would get a new lawyer..I am speaking from experience the I-290B is non refundable...In my situation I was missing a Schedule C from tax information and was denied..I sent in the 290B as per the instructions in the letter with my $585...I was told when they received it and cashed my check that the 290B was not necessary now that they had the missing information...There was no refund...if I were you I would just send in the required info directly to the person who signed the denial and see if they will open it on a service motion as they did with me

  3. Thank you JESUS....... i am the CITIZEN of USA.

today i had the interview @ IRVING office in TX......interview @ 8.10 am and oath @ 1.30 pm.

six Qs were asked to me......

What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?*

Who is in charge of the executive branch?

If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

What is one reason colonists came to America?

During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?

    i studied 100 qs.. .. from this link.. .

and reviewed those questions using this review test .. but u need to download the apple software to play this...its a good tool to review...u can just click on the q and ans it and if you any doubt you can listen to answers also...especially helpful if you have any problem in understanding the american accent....u can listen all the 100 qs....and practice

I want to thank you VISAJOURNEY and all the VJ friends who helped me since AUG 6th, 2006. I was able to apply for CR-1 and then removal of conditions and then 10yr green card and now the citizenship.....never have to look for outside help other than VJ members.....

u r all soooooo wonderful...please keep up the good work...

    THANKS a BILLION friends..

    GOD BLESS Y'ALL

Geesh..most natural born US Citizens couldn't answer those questions!!!

  4. My husband petioner for my daughter (his stepdaughter). I have been a green card holder since 2006 with no conditions( I had a previous marriage and the conditions were removed then). My daughter went for her AOS interview last week and she was approved but the officer told her she would get a 2 year green card..My husband and I have only been married for a year...I don't understand why the step child would be given a conditional green card in this situation as I already have a 10 year card...What conditions would she have to apply to remove in 2 years???

  5. Don't get yourself worried here, I know from my own experience that signing up for a text message, email notification is not reliable. I sent in my AOS package including request for email notices in mid October and have not received a single email from them. But in the meantime got my initial receipts NOA1s and even my appointment for biometrics in the mail. Same goes with the online status update of your cases, don't rely on that, last touch dates may be weeks back and you even received something in the postal mail unexpectedly.

The only reliable source you have is the Fedex delivery confirmation ;)

Good luck on your immigration journey!!

    M.

Glad I am not the only one..my online status says they recd the paperwork on June 24 and are reviewing..heck my daughter has already had her AOS interview and was approved...LOL

  6. Because your child's residence is still dependent on your residence as immigrant married to a US citizen (you better stay married to the person who petitioned you he he he). Meaning, it is important to remove the conditions in your residence. In short, chill out, it's not a big deal since your daughter got her green card already.

My residency is not conditional upon my marriage to a US citizen that conditon was removed years ago..I have been a green card holder since 2006 with no conditions. That is why I was wondering why they made my daughters card conditional..conditional on what??

  7. Finally my daughter had her interview today and was approved...I am confused now..I of course was not allowed into the interview with her but my husband who is her petioner was...The officer told my daughter that she will get a 2 year green card..I thought those were only for those who were applying for status thru marriage..my daughter is a step child and that made her an immediate relative..Why would they not give her a 10 year green card since there is no conditions to remove????

  8. I know a lot of what is said about the people who process our cases is in jest or the heat of the moment because of the amount of time our cases are taken...

but before you start complaining and calling them lazy and all names under the sun :) am sure there are doing there best to try and get through our cases and there work...(well maybe apart from a few bad apples)

at the moment i work for the CSA (child support agency) in the UK and a Data Protection Officer...which when a client wants all there information there come to us and we send out everything we hold on them bar 3rd party infomation...

now from the date of when we get the request in our office we have 40 days to supply our customers with there information....now a while back there was a great influx of work and because we were short manned we were not meeting the deadlines...but we were trying our best to get the information processed and sent out...

(we are now all caught up with work may i add lol)

but before you start posting OMG NOA2 IS TAKEN AGES (and I know sometimes its just to vent and its always nice to vent every now and again) but all am trying to say is please bear in mind that these people (hopefully lol) are doing all there can to process our cases as fast as there can :)

maybe we could have a sticky at the top of this page where users can go to vent and let off a bit steam?

Geesh that is nothing I have had an ongoing child support file with the agency in Canada...lets see it has been 12 years and they have now just sent him to jail...Trust me I have all the patience in the world...LOL

  9. ALL you people who say Attornies do it wrong...

Take a hike. You got proof of all of them that have

attornies all got RFE's, or you just make stupid coment

    becasue you dont really know.

I bet you there are more RFE done by people doing it

them self than Attornies. But for you all that did do

    it right great.

But all you that think ALL attornies are bad LET'S HOPE

you aren't DENIED and never need one becasue you have

problems. And I'm sure you will have to wait much

longer also if you made a mistake. It must be why I

see so many people come on here asking for help because

they didnt do it right the first time, having no experience.

Than if your doing it yourself, you got nobody to BLAME

    BUT YOURSELF.

Than face it ...experience does make a difference

But to each his own, if you do it and dont get a RFE

    I slatue YOU !

But I rather take my chances with a attorney, than not.

Anybody can try doing all the forms them self.

But if you do make a mistake than you have to be UPSET

only at yourself and your own ability to have done it

    incorrectly.

I'm sure some attornies do make mistake but i would bet all my

money on a attorney than without. People doing it themself have

a MUCH HIGHER RATE of RFE...Than people who have attornies !

So let just hope you dont need and attorney and dont get a RFE.

I bet my money on and attorney that has done 2 or 3 hundred

cases than somebody who doing it their first time alone ! ! ! ! !

Maybe you luck out doing it right but there the chance you

dont also. Dont tell me experience attornies and them doing hundreds dont

mean nothing. I really dont care what you think. Let's just say

you better PRAY YOU DONT GET A RFE.

I rather take my chances on somebody who knows what they are

doing than somebody trying to do it themself and not sure or

doing it wrong. Help is available here.

Doing it right and you will have a better chance on not getting

    a RFE.

Yeah is makes me laugh also when i see many here making their own

problems for not doing it right also.

Maybe they did make a mistake on their case, NOBODY PERFECT EXCEPT GOD

SO if you dont fine if you do what you going to do

JUST COMPLAIN....Join all the others with problems.

There are 10 of thousand claims being processed.

Yeah you have a right to see mistakes

But what you dont have a right if they find your MISTAKE also.

What if you were working right alone and you were them working

on a claim and you found a mistake processing your claim. Dont you

think they are pissed off also becasue you didnt or failed to do it right.

Now they have to take the time out to notify of your mistake

You thinks its fun for them, when they have to process hundreds

a week or thousands ? ? ? Everybody complains about them

They dont have a right to place the blame on you if you are

    not correct also ? ? ?

Think about it or place the blame always on them right ?

They are human just like you and have rights to make mistakes also.

But what if you make the mitake are you complaing to them or looking

at yourself for YOUR OWN MISTAKE ?

Something for you to like, complain about to me or to take the blame

yourself. Your fooling nobody but yourself.

NOT ME ! NOT THEM. Make your coment but let hope i dont see any of

you in the future asking for help becasue i see you did it wrong

Than let's see who laughing too !

SO laugh all you want at yourself not me.

I will save the names of you all, and let see if you ask when or

if you ask for help or get a RFE or anything with your claim in

the future also. Thans let see ! ! ! !

I get to laugh at you all FAIR GAME BACK TO YOU No problem.

Laugh all you want you think i care until i see you have a problem.

And see who ask if they know and attorney to help them, or dont ask for one

But i bet you wife over seas wont be so happy at you either...

Will she be laughing at you ? ? Think about it for your mistake ! ! ! ! !

    Having to wait longer also.

Good luck for those who dont have any in the future and for you that do

    OH WELL !

Wow if I didn't know better I would think this person is an attorney...Geesh take a pill

  10. BEWARE...I have heard horror stories about Jamacian men crusing resorts to find a woman so they can get out of the country...

Nothing against Jamica...I am just saying that I have heard stories...

  11. Quick Question..what sort of questions will they ask of my daughter at the interview..her 485 is based on being a step daughter??

also my daughter came to the US with me in 2002 and then left in 2007 to move back to Canada with her father...it didn't work out so a month later she moved back to the US..when I filled out her application for 485 i put the 2007 date as the date she came to the US..Is this going to be a problem??

  12. Dont want to start a war here but this is just my opinion and observation..I was born and raised in Canada and lived there for 40 years been in the US for 8 years now..Americans tend to be viewed by Canadians as bullies of a sort..If the Americans don't agree with the way a country is being run they just move in and change it to the way they want to see it..Canadians are more laid back and don't worry so much about what goes on outside of their own back yard.. When I lived in Canada a standard work week was 35 hours and health care was free..no worries in Canada..you get a year for maternity leave and are paid while you are off...I move here and I now work 40 hours a week..I can barely afford family health care coverage..$650 a month..most companies don't offer maternity leave so you have a baby and are back to work in a matter of weeks..I think what it boils down to is levels of stress..and I would have to say that Americans are a lot more stressed than Canadians..

    AGain just my humble opinion

  13. She did it along the way..most important is the SSN name change..then we filed...after that you can deal with those other things during the process...although I wouldn't take forever..because they will at some point run a background check, and if you haven't changed it, they'll ask for an RFE as to why you didn't change your last name to your new married name...suspicious of a sham marriage.

Wow,, I have never taken my husbands last name and I have been married twice here in the US...

  14. this is what I did in 2002...flew to Denver from Toronto and got married..flew back to Toronto..sold my belongings quit my job and drove back across the border and headed to Denver..they asked me the purpose of my trip and I said visit..I filed for AOS as soon as I got to Denver...never had a problem..I actually went to the immigration office in Denver and got my Alien card and everything else I need right there on the spot...I am guessing things are different and they don't do that anymore..

Do you really have to convince Canadian officials that you will go back to the US? Why would anybody prefer to stay in Canada?:P

Can you say free medical??? LOL oh and don't forget the good beer!!!
