Green Card Received!!!! FINALLY!
-
Green card arrived in the mail today! Done until 2013! :]

We waited 4 weeks instead of two to file fot the social security number to make sure Robe was in the system. The whole appointment went really well until the end when she ran his name and it wasn't in the system. She says we'll need to run a manual verification and we will be notified by mail when it goes through. When I asked her roughly how long it would take she said I. have. no. idea. like it was a totally ridiculous question. Here we go again.

Does anyone know something about the "Embassy Plaza Shopping Center"? When I called to schedule the interview they told me that on the day of the interview I should go to this place first, and that from there they bring you to consulate for the interview. However, today, while reviewing the interview date confirmation email , I noticed it doesn't mention anything about this place! Now we are a little confused- Any thoughts? Thanks guys!

It IS the Consulate. I too, was very surprised to find out that the U.S. Embassy is nestled between an "Extra" and an "Oxxo" with a Denny's on the next block and a Starbuck's and a Coppel's across the street. Check out the blurry photos on my page if you want. You just go to the one place and there is a fence with someone under a tent that checks people's invitation letters.

220 days since NOA1 - 7.5 months. Broken down, frustrated, and feeling helpless. About ready to give up on the American Dream and head back to Mexico....what did we do to be made to wait this long? I paid my money - more than those who filed after Nov and are approved way before me. Our immigration system is so broken.

How important is it for us to receive the invitation letter? The consulate told me to go ahead and start making appointments.

It's true that you will need a copy of the invitation letter to get into the medical and the consulate. Since they don't print them out there anymore you must receive one by mail. Sometimes it takes many weeks to arrive in either location! If it's been longer get them to send you another one somehow.

I wasn't able to create a personal album but if you click on my "photos" you can see some pictures we took as we were driving by the consulate.

A question for friends who interviewed at the CJ consulate: What did you write for Question #11 on the I-134 ("I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3")? N/A, Yes, or something else? Thanks!!
-
I put "do not" as well as my co-sponsor. When I researched it earlier people said that specific contributions can get complicated to explain and uphold in many situations. Putting "no" implied that I will be making "general" but not "specific" contributions, it doesn't mean I won't be making contributions.
