  1. My husband had his Oath Ceremony on March 16 in Montgomery, AL  It was literally a drive thru ceremony and he was so disappointed...

We sat in our car while a man in khaki shorts, shirt and ball cap handed him a clipboard with the Oath on it - he read it out and they handed him the certificate, said congratulations and we drove away...  At least I got to be with him - and yes, I cried happy tears  --  but this is a BIG deal and Covid stole it from him.  We're happy it's all over with.

  2. They will ask you to go over questions that were on your application, and you can give them any new information that you have since filing... I used my marriage license to get my husband added onto my bank account and onto some of the utilities. Get what you can before the interview. I'm sure others will chime in soon with more advice -- but don't freak... our AOS interview lasted about 15 minutes :)

  3. I've read a lot of posts on a lot of different sites, and I'm still not entirely sure which category we fall into.....

My husband and I married in 2011 and he immigrated to the US and now has his 10 yr card. At that time, his daughter was 16 and still in school in the UK - so she wanted to stay and finish. Here we are 5 years later and she will be finishing school soon and is now thinking about coming to live with us here.

I know we need to file the I-130 for her - but which one of us should file, and what category?

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

  4. There really wasn't much to the interview at all - she looked through her file, asked some questions. Looked through the updated info that we brought in, laughed at some of the pictures -- then approved us. What took the longest was for her to search for the fingerprint info and call the Support Center to find out what was going on..... then to get us another form so that he could go back and do the prints for the 3rd time!

  5. We don't qualify for a waiver.....

On a funny note -- because if I don't laugh I'll cry -- we got a letter from the Atlanta office today (1-29-15) telling us that they have received the petition to remove conditions and that the card will expire soon, so we need to make an infopass appointment. The letter was dated 1-26-15....... The card expired in June 2013 and we did make an infopass appt in June 2014 and got the stamp to extend for another year -- They are really on the ball!

We can only hope that MAYBE this means they have gotten down to his case and will be taking care of it soon ?!? Will just have to wait and see.

  6. We are having the same issue..... We filed in April 2013 to Vermont. Received the same RFE in August 2013 and sent back ALL info requested even though they already had it from the original GC filing. Ours was transferred to the Atlanta Field Office - but we were never informed of that until we did a service request in December 2013. We were told that we would just have to wait until an interview could be scheduled. In March 2014, after hearing NOTHING -- we contacted our Senator and had them do an inquiry. That was a waste of time..... they got the same response that we did -- wait..... We filed another service request in May -- same response. My husband's 1 year extension on his GC ends today, June 16 -- and of course his driver's license expires today as well. On June 11, we once again called and were told that Atlanta is extremely back-logged and that our only option at this point to "speed things up" is to make an Infopass appointment online. We tried numerous times with nothing available -- but being persistent -- finally got one for June 26. When we check our online status, it STILL shows "Initial Review" -- and we STILL have not received anything directly from the Atlanta Field Office. Really ready to get this part of the journey over with and trying to stay positive -- but let's be for real..... the US Govt. hurries for no one..... GRRRR!!!!
