  1. btw u dnt need a visa to go live with ur husband in italy..if u r on his orders U can go there without visa..orders,passport,goverment Id and GC thats all u need to enter italy(";since u know the military helpline why dont u just call them and ask them cuz u might get the answer that satisfy u...

Hun, I need visa to be able to live with him in Italy. As i have said in my older posts, I WENT TO THE MILITARY BASE to process my papers and thats what they told me, also thats what the ITALIAN EMBASSY said. And hey, if youre annoyed you dont need to reply. :) and thats why i'm asking people here is maybe some people have already experienced the same situation, and for sure the military helpline can't answer "other people's experiences" and btw those people who answer you when you call the military help line aren't immigration officers or what not, they are only CALL CENTER AGENTS. Again, dont talk smart coz i know you have never experienced my situation. and honestly, you dont need to reply to my posts.

  2. Ask the JAG officer from the military before you bother with USCIS. When you do call USCIS ask for a supervisor. There have been members her on V J that have reported their visas were expidited because of military deployment. Your case may be different because he is already deployed outside the USA. What is the reason you need the expidited AOS?

i wana if i can move it to an earlier date. I'm okay with going to the interview alone but i was just wondering that maybe i could do what other military spouses have done. plus my interview is more or less a month from today, ahh its taking forever. :( i was wondering if i can be approved without the interview because husband isnt here to go with me for the scheduled date. I wana get done with the GC thing so i can start processing my papers with the military. they required me to be a permanent resident before i can process the whole command sponsorship, it got aproved already but i still need the GC for me to be able to apply for the visa going to europe

  3. From what I've read, because he cant go to the interview with you, you need to get a copy of his deployment order and take it to the interview with you.

I'm sure other people will chime in though for more accurate info.

Yes i have copies of his orders, PCS and deployment. Someone mentioned that she expedited her interview with immigration and her reason was her husband was going on deployment.

  4. Hi everyone! its me again lol My husband is a member of the Airforce, he is stationed in Italy but right now he is deployed in AFGHANISTAN. My AOS interview is scheduled next month, since hes a military member, CAN I EXPEDITE MY CASE? or something. Some military spouses have posted stories about this, but i really would like to talk to people who know something about this. Please enlighten me! thank you

I know if my husband put me as an dependent i can go with him but what if im

Hello. Kasal na ba kayo? I think pwede pa rin niya isend yung application form kahit deployed siya. saka, hindi naman siya agad madedeploy kung magjjoin palang siya ng navy

  7. I don't think anyone would imply that people at banks are inhuman (except maybe some loan officers :P ). I think it's a matter of complying with tax laws. Banks in the US are required by law to report certain transactions to the IRS for tax purposes. In order to do this, they need the SSN or taxpayer ID number for the account holder. There are some ways for a bank to get around this, such as restricting the account so that reportable transactions are not allowed, but this is an accounting headache for the bank. Many banks just won't do it, and require an SSN or taxpayer ID from every account holder.

My wife got an SSN by virtue of having entered with a K1 visa, so we were able to open a joint account, but I know my bank will not open an account without an SSN or taxpayer ID.

well they added me on his account without SSN. Whichever way you take it, i really dont know but i guess im just lucky that they let me add myself n his accounts. Plus in all banks, they have this form you have to fill out if youre opening an account with them. Thats what I did, i had to fill out forms which are for NON US CITIZENS. I presented all my ids and my marriage certificate and that gives me all the right to be able to have access to his account.

  8. so how did u get a bank account if u dont have SSN??cuz u wrote here that u have joint acccount in USAA??hmmm :whistle: kinda weird...oh well maybe its diffrent in every states eh???

My husband added me in his account as an authorized user, thats why they didnt ask for SSN. Plus, i told them i needed proof for immigration purposes. The bank people said that once i get my SSN i should go back to them and UPDATE my information. Its not weird SAYITONCE, you can always explain to bank people why you need some stuff or why youre applying, theyre also human so they'll understand.

  9. This is only possible if you came on a K1 visa. I think the OP got married in the US on a tourist visa.

Being able to get an SSN with a K1 is due to a legacy quirk in the Social Security rules. There was a time when some states required an SSN to get a marriage license, and a K1 has to get married within 90 days of entering the US, so the Social Security Administration was issuing SSN's to K1's, but marking the cards "Not valid for employment". A Supreme Court ruling has since banned states from requiring an SSN before issuing a marriage license, but the Social Security Administration is still issuing SSN's to K1's. I expect they'll eventually catch up with the changes in the law, and stop issuing SSN's to K1's.

Hey! yea i went to the US on a tourist visa. My plan was to go visit my boyfriend's (now my husband) family, he came home from italy too. He proposed out of the blue lol i really had no plans of staying and working here in the US, and only reason I applied for permanent residence is the military base required me to be a green card holder for me to be able to use the command sponsorship (as he is in the airforce).

One thing they look for that I don't see above is proof of joint residence - lease/house purchase agreement/joint utilities/driver's licenses with the same address/letter or affidavit from someone who has knowledge that you live together. Add at least one of these and you'd have more documents than they would hope to see.

On my interview they also asked for a certified copy of my husband's birth certificate (even though we had sent that with the forms already).

Good luck! It's not as scary as it sounds and in most cases it's really easy for them to tell if the marriage is genuine.

*Edit: I just saw your husband is deployed out of the US, but maybe you still can bring some proof that you lived together before he had to leave.

Thanks by the way for replying. And yes, i'll ask for affidavits from people who have knowledge that we lived together. From his parents and friends.

  10. You actually dont need to have your ead to apply for you ssn#. I guess different ssa offices has different rules. You can actually wait 10 days to be on the SAVE system and then you can apply for a ssn number. I hope that was helpful. Good luck.

    Nwanyioma

I know I can apply for SSN, but when i called SSA the lady told me to wait for my ead. Plus she asked me for proof of residence, one of requirements to apply for ssn. I'll call again SSA and USCIS so i can ask about it.

Are you still living with his parents?

Yes, I'm still living with his parents. If ever i get approved, i'll go to italy in October, because he is stationed there, but right now he is deployed in Afghanistan until last week of september. Whyd you ask?

  11. really u need EAD to apply SSN??I applied in arizona.as soon as got my marriage certificate we went to SSN office to apply SSN card.I only showed to them my marriage certificate, passport with US visa in it and my goverment ID...I told the old woman that I wanna use my husband last name and thats it..but it takes 1 month and 4 days before I got my SSN card in the mail =)

have u tried going at the SSN office to get one??just bring his 2009 tax return just in case(";the rest in good evidence too..

hello! well i called SSA and they said that i should wait for my ead, before i can apply for SSN. Plus they asked me for proof of residence, eh i'm not a permanent resident yet so they said to wait for ead instead

plus its unless getting SSN without my EAD, coz i cant use ssn without EAD lol

My husband is stationed in Italy, and I'm from the Philippines. i went to the us on a tourist visa, and the wedding proposal was a surprise. My husband just came home for 2 weeks to see me, so thats the only time we spent together as he had to go back to italy for his job. We stayed in his parents' house, we dont have our own house yet. We got married just this January thats why i cant present any lease of house. plus the utility bills, since we dont have our own house yet, no utility bills. I dont have driver's license yet since for me to be able to apply for one, i need to have SSN which i am still waiting along with my EAD. but maybe i'll get an affidavit saying that we lived together for 2 weeks.

I think take it all and it will be enough. Good luck to you!!

    Thank you! whens your interview?

  13. Passport isnt going to prove my marriage lol i was asking about proving marriage :) but yes of course, passport is a must have. lol and pictures, i mentioned that.
