We brought a HUGE album of our trip around the world and the interviewer just asked us many questions about our year long trip!!! Our file was very thick, so she already had a lot of info on us! Its been a LONG process, and we are happy its over for the next 2 years!

We got a letter today stating his card is on the way!!

Since my husband JUST got here 3 months ago, and he just got his EAD about 2 weeks ago, we dont have much more to add to ALL the other info we had orginally sent in to get his butt in the USA! We are hoping they have our file with our piles and piles of info we have had to send in over this LONG 11 month process!

    Good luck everyone!

  3. Thanks, I got the postal mail today and got the low down on where the local USCIS office and a laundry list of many things they want to see at the interview. We sent a 6+ pound AOS package in Jan. I suspect the interview package will be of somewhat similar weight -- I am guessing it will be about 3 pounds or so.

We got our letter too, May 16th interview!

They do want a lot of information!! Many of the items needed say "unless already submitted" and I do feel like we already submitted almost everything for this LONG k1 process!

Guess its time to start to collect evidence:)

  4. Thanks for the information. The only reason why I was wondering if the SS# was inactive was because we tried to put the eletric bill in his name when he arrived and when they ran the number through they were saying it was inactive. I know he will have the same SS# for life, just wanted to know if he needed to go down to the office to get a new card, or he can take his old card and his NEW work Authorization card and go get a JOB TODAY:)

  5. Hello,

I have a friend that is in the US on an exprired tourist visa. He would like to travel to another state on a plane. He doesnt have a US driver's license. Do you think he will have problems at the airport using his passport that is legal, however it has an expired tourist visa in it?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi,

You can get your police record in other cities. My husband got his in Salta. The only thing is that he had to go twice because the first one had expired. You have to make sure its within 6 months of the interview. He went just before we applied.....then we had to wait longer than 6 months, so he had to go again. Both times were in Salta though.

As for the medical, there are 4-5 doctors listed on the BA Embassy site. He went to the one with the last name of Kelly. Kelly was the only one that had an appointment for the next day. He had to go all the way to BA(24 hour bus ride) for the medical and for the interview. Once we sent in the medical packet along with all the other items required for packet 3, the embassy contacted us within 4 days with a date for the interview. The interview was scheduled for 3.5 weeks later.

We have written quite a bit about the process in Argentina, so just have a look.

Good luck and if you have any other questions, please just ask!

  7. Are there any stats on VJ to show if it takes less time for the AOS to be approved if you are filing from a K1 visa? Since the K1/K3 visa process is pretty extensive-

Also, is there a spot on VJ that lists the stats on the odds of going to an interview if you are coming from a K1 or K3 visa?

Lastly, are there stats on VJ comparing those people that used a lawyer vs. those that filed on their own??

    Just wondering......

    Thanks:)

  8. To answer your question:

Both packets the original one that I sent in with the 129F, as the US citizen I organized that one. I typed out covers for each section I.E., passport stamps, Photos, letters from friends and family, our family passport stamps when they visited each other, birth certificate, letters, emails. .....

Then once the 129F leaves the NVC it goes to the Embassy in their country. Once they receive it, the Embassy sent the non US citizen a packet and they have to return it. I sent him the originals I had and he included what he had with what he had. I know that my fiance is SUPER organized, so I can only imagine what he did!

He had made this amazing book of our trip around the world, but they didn't even ask to look at it!

I wasn't at the Interview, in fact I have not seen him since I filed back in June. It is just too expensive to fly back and forth from the US to Argentina... Cant wait until he arrives!! January 18th is his flight!!!

  9. No, I was not at the Interview. In fact I was at in the US...trying to keep busy all day. His Interview was at 2pm, but I became so nervous around that time that I had to be at the house.....but he didn't get called in until 6pm!!! 4 hours later, of course I was waiting thinking the worst!!! Finally he called me and told me that he had been waiting and waiting then only had to answer ONE question!!!

Besides filling out all the paperwork needed, we sent lots of pictures, letters from people vouching our relationship, tickets stubs, passports entries... Actually we have been together for 3 years and last year we took the WHOLE year off and just traveled around the world. SO we had pictures of us from various places all over the world and 15 countries stamps in our passport. He had made a really nice book of our trip, but they didn't even ask him for anything!!

When he went in for the Interview, they only asked how long we had been together. They told him our paperwork was ridiculously organized. We didn't make a book by any means, but we had everything paper clipped with a front cover for every section.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have anymore questions!!

    :)

so happy for you guys, congratulations!!

couple of questions, what do you mean by loading up the application and the paperwork??

and did u go with him to the interview??

  10. Just wanted to post that the interview went well today! They only asked ONE question, "How long have you been together?" This whole process started for us back in June when we mailed in our K1 visa paperwork into to Vermont. Our NOA was July 7th, then the waiting game began! It has been what seemed like a really really long time. Everything went a lot faster once the we receieved the NOA2. I do suggest loading up the application and then loading up the paperwork that the beneficery has to mail in before the Interview. I think that is why they only asked ONE question.

Good luck everyone, I hope your journey goes by fast!

Our whole process took 25 weeks- 175 days!! Now we just have to wait for the visa in hand, then the flight!!!!
