  1. Thanks for everyone's help! Got our Packet 3 via email today! Not complaining, but this is all happening so fast! Only had 40 days between NOA1 and NOA2 and 15 days between NOA2 and Packet 3! I'm glad I'm in Oz to help my fiance out with everything (he's technologically challenged...), but since we were expecting a 6 month process, I think he still won't be able to make it to New Orleans until December because of commitments at home. Boo, but if I'm good at anything, it's waiting to be with my man...

  2. Howdy Aussie VJers. I have a question about the fingerprint background check needed for the K1 visa.

On the US Embassy - Canberra website US Embassy it states that for NSW, you just need to go to your local police station and they can process it all for you. But on the NSW info sheet for applying for a National Criminal History Record Check NSW Police Force , it states that if you require a police check for traveling or living abroad, you need to go through the Australian Federal Police AFP.

The embassy website refers to the check as a National Criminal History Record Check, which is what's offered from NSW. The AFP check is called a National Police Check. I'm thinking my fiance just needs to head down to his local police station in NSW. Suggestions?

  3. Just received our NOA2 hardcopy in the mail!!! Yayayayay!! We didn't get an email and our uscis.gov account was never updated, but nonetheless we're approved wahoo!! good luck to everyone!!:dance::lol::no::no::dance::thumbs:

Same thing happened to us! Received hardcopy NOA2 in mail dated July 19, but did not receive an email, text, or adjustment on USCIS website. Not that I'm complaining about being approved... So as far as I understand now the paperwork gets sent to the NVC and on to the consulate in Sydney. How do I check to see when the NVC receives/sends out my paperwork? This is all happening so quickly, my fiance hasn't even started his medical and police check yet. Dare I hope he be in New Orleans by Halloween?!?

  4. I'm feeling sick to my stomach. I was encouraged to go ahead and get this process started because I was told it could take anywhere from 6-12 months... and people are getting approval from USCIS four weeks after they're NOA1? Can I trade with somebody???

Don't freak. You still have to get the medical and police check, which apparently can take a while. And you can take your time, there's no law that says you have to rush to get your packet together after receiving your NOA2. I'm sure there is a time limit, but it is probably something like 4 months, so you have plenty of time. Good luck with it all!

  5. NOA2 email/txt notice 19 days after I received my NOA1!!!!!!!

Good luck fellow June filers!! :wow::dance:

Congrats Dodi!!! <HAPPY DANCE> My packet still hasn't been touched since 6/17. I'm on day 23 since my NOA1. I had geared myself up for waiting an agonizing 3 months for the NOA2 and now knowing they're being churned out in a month's time has me all excited! Now I'm worrying because I haven't heard anything yet... I have signed up for the text and email notification, but am currently in Australia without my mobile and have dodgy internet access. Fingers crossed that I can be doing a happy dance soon as well!

  6. My fiance and I met in person as well, but I just love how the internet has become a place for people to meet and fall in love. It really allows people to interact with others that they may never have had the opprotunity to meet in real life. I believe in soul mates, and wonder just how many people settle for good enough, because their soul mate lives halfway across the world...

Currently, I am hopefully optimistic because the VCS has been sending their overflow to Texas, where my check was cashed. The TX center has been churning out NOA2s in a month's time. One filer from May got their NOA2 in 30 days, and another from early June only took 21 days.:wow: The June filer got her NOA1 two days before me, so maybe I'm next?!? Fingers crossed!!! I'm currently in Australia, and wouldn't it be great if I could be here to help my fiance with his end of the paperwork, etc. I'm probably jinxing myself by talking about it... Watch me get a big, bad RFE now. At least I'll have sweet dreams tonight imagining my honey in New Orleans by Halloween!!! :D

  7. Approved yesterday by USCIS!!!!:wow: 21 Days from NOA1 date!!!! I got an email and sms at 6 am today! I saw that it had been "touched" yesterday and was hoping that it was being approved...and sure enough!!! But I think my packet stayed in Tx. Not enough time to go back and forth. But seems going to Tx expeditited the whole process!!! They took a long time to cash my check and send NOA1 too, this is not indicative of how quickly they are working!!!!...so don't worry!!! Good luck to all of you still waiting! I am still in shock!!!!

Holy Moley!!! My check was cashed in TX. Wouldn't be great to be approved in so little time! I'm currently in Austraila with my fiance, and could help him out with everything he has to do on his end... He could be in the States by Halloween. That would be awesome! I'm probably jinxing myself by talking about it, though. So I'll just shut up and think hopeful thoughts, cross my fingers, and rub my lucky rabbit's foot. Okay, maybe I don't have a lucky rabbit's foot, but if I did, I'd be rubbing it!!! Congrats btw, I hope the rest of your visa journey is as speedy and pain free and your first part has been.

  8. Hiya AustoUsa ... I don't know Albury/Wodonga, as I live close to Melbourne, but I have driven through it a few times on my travels up north to NSW and Qld. It is out in the sticks, as we say LOL ... I can't remember how built up it is, but I think it's quite a country type of place. You might want to Google it. I have friends that go up there and camp a lot though. How exciting for you though, is it your first time to Australia?

Not my first time, I actually lived in Melbourne (Prahran) with my fiance in 07/08. I fly into Melbs and told Jack that we have to hit up The Veggie Bar and The Shanghai Dumpling House before we drive up to Albury the next day. Albury is a bit boring but not too bad. The population is about 90,000 so its nothing to sneeze at... When I was there in December, the new JBHiFi opened, and the town had electronics fever! Okay, maybe it is a bit small... I was just wondering if there were any winter festivals going on up there or anything. I think there is a Christmas in July thing around Rutherglen somewhere... Hoping to get down to Falls Creek for some skiing. It should be a great trip for the simple reason that I get to see my man!

  9. I got a great deal on tickets and am flying return New Orleans/LAX/Melbourne for $1100USD. Amazing, considering I paid $2000 for the same flight in December... I'll be in chilly Oz at the end of June for a lovely two month holiday with my honey. I can't wait. We haven't seen each other since January! Anyone know of any fun and exciting happenings around Albury Wadonga for the next two months?!?

  10. I only just received my NOA1, but am leaving for a 2 month trip to visit my fiance in a few days. I thought I would bring everything he would need from me via the I-134, including statements from my bank and employer. Seeing as we probably won't get our NAO2 until August/September and all my documents are dated June, should I get the same documents redone closer to our NOA2 date?

  11. My father is going to cosponsor my fiance, so I have him filling out an I-134. He is self-employed, so does that mean the only evidence he must submit is a copy of his last tax return? Does he need to submit a statement from his bank as well? Thank you for your assistance in advance. :D
