  1. Hello,

My Husband is in London and recently had his interview which went smoothly :).. They said he would receive his passport within 5-7 days and still no news  They dont even care and give you no feedback on how long it may take. Has this happend to anyone else? His interview was so quick and they only asked him two questions and he was out of the embassy within an hour! I sent them an email which they responded say they are doing administrative checks?? can anyone help?

Call the visa specialist office(Department of State) 202-633-1225. When the recording comes on the phone, press 1 then 0. They should be able to see anything in your case when it is at the embassy. They can tell you if you are on administrative processing or administrative review. :)

  2. Finally got CC at NVC!!!

I was really delayed sending out the AOS package. My sponsor filed an extension and she's self employed so I had to wait, but I sent it out on 10/12 and got case complete on 10/18.

I called today and spoke to an operator because the automated system still says they are waiting on my financial evidence. Can't count on the AVR!

I also got the typical "November is full and we only schedule interviews the second week of month. :( I will keep calling everyday now to see if I have an interview date!

    So excited!!!!!

  3. Hubby had his interview this morning at 8:30am. He was there for 4 hours. The CO asked 2 questions. Looked at both albums. We had a small ceremony and a huge one later. She commented on how gorgeous both weddings were and said thats all she needed to see. He will pick up visa in 3-5 working days. GOD IS GOOD!!

    Congratulations!!!! :D

  4. Hello Visa journey,

I just need some advice on what to do if anyone has had experience with a similar problem like mine, any advice would be appreciated. I went to the US consulate in the dominican republic with my fiancee and the visa was denied because the consular officer believed we were in a sham relationship. Officer did not ask to see any further proof of relationship. He pretty much said we messed up in the questions which I don't believe its true. I went over the questions with my fiancee and we missed maybe about 2-3 out of about 40 questions. I have contacted attorneys regarding this issue and all I was told was to reapply again or get married and apply for a marriage visa. I am hesistant to do this because from what i've found out there is nothing keeping the consular officers from denying us again if they believe our marriage is a sham as well. Not only does that put a financial strain on us but we also have to waste another year in waiting which i'm not very fond of. I have also contacted USCIS and I was told that once they receive the denied petition they will review it and if they rule on my favor they will send it back to the consulate but they have the final say whether to approve it or not and they can deny for the same reason if they feel like it and I will have to go through the whole process again. I need some advice from anyone who has gone through this experience in this forum. What would be the best course of action for me? Do I wait for USCIS to make the decision? Do I apply again for a K1 Visa? or should i get married and apply for a K3? I would also be interested in knowing if anyone has had an application denied by the US consulate if USCIS has ruled in your favor what was the outcome? Did the US consul approve the visa then? Please let me know any advice and i will gladly appreciate it. Also if anyone knows of a good immigration attorney that has experience dealing with denied petitions please let me know. All attorneys I have contacted only tell me to apply again or get married and apply for a K3 and I really don't feel like going through this whole process again. I also contacted my US senator and they wrote the consulate on my behalf and they responded that they already sent denied petition to USCIS and they are waiting for USCIS to respond for them to take any further action.

My K-1 visa was also denied last year and I know exactly how you feel. They didnt even look at my evidence. I was so torn but I didnt give up. We saved up as much as we could and had a small wedding 4 months later. As soon as I got back I filed for his CR-1 which was approved in 102 days. If you love your fiance and were planning to marry him here anyway, look for ways to have your wedding frugally in the DR. You were going to have to spend money on adjusting status, you can use it to send your CR-1 petition. I know its hard, but when you are in love nothing is impossible. Stay positive.

If you are going to proceed to marry him, dont wait until you receive notice from the USCIS. Send them a notarized letter stating you want to withdraw your petition and they will terminate your K-1 approval. If not, this can cause issues once you apply for the CR-1 if they decide to review your K-1 Visa case.

    Good Luck.

  5. Just for the record....I applied for the K3. They were going to process it as a CR1 but the K3 was going faster so they went that route. All together this will have taken me about 5 months in total. The only difference between K3 and CR1 is - with K3 you need to married 2 years and then the spouse can apply for an adjustment of status, which will cost $1000, and then they are a permanent resident.

With the CR1, you wait longer and you pay $500 in the beginning instead of 2 years after.

Either way you'd have to be married so I'd say just get married and decide which visa is better for your situation.

That is not true at all. First of all K-3 Visas approval and CR-1 are taking about the same time to approve and recently couples that have gone the K-3 have had more delays at USCIS and the NVC. The other thing is that you don't have to be married 2 years to go the K-3 route. You have to be married more than 2 years to obtain IR-1 status once your visa is approved and you enter the US.

Not to be rude, but please read the information provided on the WIKI. You can cause alot of confusion if you are not sure about something. :)

  6. Wow I hadn't read that. I can take the intimate questions its the humiliation of the manner they ask and question you that doesnt sit right with me. I will continue to battle this but I think this consulate went above and beyond their scope of work.

My K-1 visa was denied as well. If you are taking the step towards marrying him in DR and filing for CR-1, don't wait until you get an appeal letter. Send a notarize letter to USCIS service center where your petition was approve stating you want to withdraw your petition and they will terminate the approval.

Those CO's in DR are pigs. They wouldnt look at my evidence either that's why this time I sent a package to USCIS California that weighed 12 pounds with all our paperwork and evidence!!! Everything is forwarded to the embassy and They have to go through the package before the interview!

    Good Luck!!!

  7. I think that is my biggest issue here...that she was rude as all get out....This journey is hard enough, a little compassion would be great...but I know that is not going to happen :/

I agree and we all know how it feels to call and just hope for a miracle. I worked in a call center for 7 years. I hated every bit of it because of the rude people that would call in. But my job was to assist clients with there needs and that is what they need to do. Regardless of how many times you call.

I think they need to only hire people that have gone through this process and understand how important it is to us to reunite with our loved ones.......

Hang in there and I do advise that when you find yourself with the urge to call, get up, get out and go for a walk. Easier said then done: Try not to obsess. You'll make yourself sick. Trust me, I did!!! :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

  8. Unfortunately, NVC has been backlogged recently, and it's been taking almost a month from NOA2 to receiving a case number. All you can do is to continue calling a NVC operator everyday and asking if a number has been assigned. Good luck.

Yup, you can send the IV before the AOS. There's no rule where you have to send the AOS first. Most people do as that's the first bill that appears as PAID. But if you have everything ready for the IV, just sent it. That way, at least NVC can start reviewing it while you're waiting for the last few documents for the AOS.

Thanks so much SAYLIN!!!!! Now I can breath!!!

  9. SIF is the first sign of case completion (AVR gets updated tomorrow). Call an operator - he will know it now. Congrats.

Question: I notice you sent in your DS-230 paperwork before the AOS. Will they still process it first? I'm missing two items from my co-sponsor who left on vacation till the Sept.6. I have everything ready for the IV package. Should I sent it first to gain time?

  10. Kind of crazy cuz I started posting in the June NVC forum since I was approved on June 23rd but NVC received case August 8 and has been working pretty smooth for me so far.

Saylin I have a question. If I have the cover sheet for my IV bill, can I send in the DS-230 paperwork before the AOS? My joint sponsor gave me her info but I'm missing a few items and she won't be in town until September 6. Imagine that. 46 days waiting for a case number and now I'm the one delaying the process :bonk:

  11. I sent NVC an email regarding the status of my application. They told me that they have recently received my application (didnt mention when) and i will hear from them within 6-8 weeks!!! Why does it take them so much time?

Not true!!! Just keep calling or emailing them. It took a 10 days to receive my NVC# after they received it. I emailed them about 20 times!!!! I was approved on JUNE 23 and they received it on Aug 8!!

  12. Sorry to hear this - 6/28 Approval and still not acknowledged by NVC. Yours is the next bad one after Jazz88 (his/her was approved on 6/16 and they just located the case papers I think day before yesterday) that NVC messed up. We are routing for you - don't give up - keep fighting and do what all you can. We will pray for you.

Thanks so much for your optimistic support I really need it!!!

  13. For anyone that really wants to start aggravating NVC... When I called this morning she told me to email a supervisor named Sue. The email address is NVCINQUIRY@STATE.GOV

She said to put in the subject line of the email... PI Supervisor Sue

Type a letter explaining your wait/frustrations and include petitioner and beneficiary's name, date of birth and receipt#. Attach a scanned copy of your NOA2 and send away!

Sue should get a dose of what is going on in her office and maybe make some changes

Thanks for the info!!!! Sue will be hearing from me very soon!!!! :protest::ranting::protest::ranting:

  14. Just seems like a bunch of bollocks to me.

I am starting to get frustrated now. There should be no reason why I should have my case number by now, it's been over a week since they scanned it into the system now. It's been a painful 38 days since I have gotten my NOA2.

At least you know they received it. They dont even know where my case is   :crying:
