  1. Sorry to say, but "No the petitioner is not allowed in". They have changed their policy and now will ONLY let the petitioner in if they blue slip you and request an interview with the petitioner. Even if you're (the petitioner) there waiting outside they will most likely not care and just request a new interview...they really don't care about the hardship it puts on you to make two trips...Just a Warning...

  2. I would have been livid too, had I been there and they didn't care. When the guards told me that they would just "set up another appointment" I was frustrated and I vented to the guard, I said "this was a wasted trip"!" He said "Don't say that..." and he went inside for me to notify them that I was there and would only be there till Monday (It was Friday)...I don't know if that helped or not but they never asked to see me, and he got approved.

  3. It's true..my fiances interview was 10/15 and I was NOT allowed in...the "ladys in pink" told me if they needed me they would come get me and the security guards told me if they wanted an interview with me, that they would blue slip him and set up a new interview date asking for me to be present!! Luckily that didn't happen and he got through!!!! :)

  4. My fiance went to go get his non-impediment. He now says he has this form to fill out...can someone tell me if its right cuz I thought it was a simple piece of paper to get(needing only Birth Certificate and Passport), Does he have the wrong thing?

I especially don't get the last one, how can I get an affidavit, I'm not there....

He says that to form wants:

    1)Name

    2)DOB

3)Usual place of residence in Jamaica

4)Name, Address and nationality of the person you intend to marry

5)Name and address of 2 Jamaican residents willing to provide references on your behalf

6)Both person should complete an affidavit available at the ministry, in the presence of a justice of the peace

  5. Would anyone be willing to link me up with a copy of their packet 3, preferribly from Jamaica's consulate? Since we never have received ours...... I know it's in the embassy portal info. but I'd really like to see a copy of the actual packet itself. Thanks....everyone is so helpful on here, I would be lost without you! :)

  6. Thanks Everyone for your help! And thanks Thompson2 I may have to take you up on that :) what is the Yardies forum? I'd love to check it out... Does anyone know where I can see a sample of the packet 3 (other than in the consulate portal) just so I can see what a real one looks like? Oh, and should I be worried...His Colombianita said I should of emailed a DS-2100 but I don't see that listed on the country portal or from a few other Jamaica VJ'ers that have gone before me. But, now I'm afraid I missed something and the consulate will delay issuing the interview. But this is what they (Kingston) emailed me:

"We have received the DS230 form and have updated the system accordingly. As soon as interview is set the applicant will be contacted via postal mail."

  7. So we have still not received packet 3 in the mail. I emailed his DS230 anyway to Kingston, and today I got an email saying they'd received it and updated his status and would mail out packet 4 with an interview date:

Does anyone know how long it should take him to get it in the mail? I'm concerned about getting it, since we never saw the packet 3. But, I also read some other posts where fellow VJ'ers never recieved a packet 3 either.

I emailed Kingston back and asked them to email me as well with the issued interview date, but isn't there an interview letter in the packet 4 we need to take with us to the embassy?

  8. My friend and her fiance want to file a k-1 visa. The problem is his mother (who has perm residence in the U.S.) filed for a family petiion in August 2009. the country is Jamaica...their relationship started 6 months before the family petition was filed....and there is proof of meeting in person March and August of 2009, as well as phone conversations. He has also filed for two travel visas in the last year to come see her and was denied...There is proof that their relationships started before any of his filings...and his intentions have all been to come see her.

So, Can you file a finace visa when a family petition is in process? And if so, will there will be any probems...or do you think they should just wait for the family petition to go through. Any idea how long that takes?

  9. For the first box (Family Name) put your last name (I put it in CAPS, just because the I-129F has you do it that way), First name then Middle.

Under Family Name Father-Put your fathers last name....mother-put her maiden name.

If you've always been unemployed you can state that you're a student and the appropriate dates (since that's the most present, list it first) after that if it does not fill the five years...list None and the appropriate dates. You could also just list None for all of it and that would be fine too.

"This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" You are correct: Mark other and write I-129F.

NEVER leave a question blank...write NONE for the A #.

    Hope that helps! :)

  10. Do not leave any gaps for the 5 years of employment, account for everything. Even if he didn't have a job for a short time between jobs, state none and the dates he was unemployed...I don't think it would be a problem to write Student starting from whenever to present. However, it would also be appropriate to write None. As far as your second question, I agree with you. If the job was there when he returned then he still had the job, even if he was "on vacation" or took a leave of absence. Hope this helps! :)

  11. Thank You so much to everyone who posts on this site!! It is great to know that people are willing to help others with the same common goal!!

Ok, so I asked before about a Birth Certificate question for my cousin which led to one for myself...

I could have sworn I read somewhere on here that both parents need to be listed on the Birth Certificate. My fiances Birth Certificate only lists his mother. Is this going to be a problem? I don't understand why his father is not listed on it, and he doesn't know why either. His parents have been married over 25 years (he is 23) and he has an older brother...so it's not like she didn't know who the father was. Anyway....is this something we need to worry about? Thanks Again for Everyones help, I would be lost without this site!!!

  12. I'm helping my cousin fill out her forms for the 129F. On her fiances G-325A (for the Beneficiary) he is not sure about anything for his biological father. Is this going to be a problem? Can he just write Unknown for his fathers first name, DOB, and place of birth?

Also, on the Beneficiary's Birth Certificate, is it required to have both parents names on it?

Thanks for any help you can give me :)

  13. I agree with you, and trust me the decision to marry is not taken lightly. My cousin is not "checking" the marriage out. It's a matter of respect. Her father would be incredibly hurt if he never met the man his "little girl" was marrying first. They know they want to be married and that it is a commitment for life. She's just trying to do it in a way that honors her father as well. She tried to get her father to travel to Jamaica so she could have a LEGAL ceremony over there. But, he is definitely an All American Cowboy who has his feet planted in the ground. He is not a man that will travel....so, can you blame a girl for wanting the two most important men in her life to meet first? And what a better way then a fiance visa? They can meet first, and then her Dad can be present at the wedding. Like, I said (even without her fathers approval) they will marry, it's just a matter of respect.
