  1. I applied for AOS 11/28/2011, and did my biometrics 1/06/2012. I have received my EAD already but regretfully did not apply for AP originally. My case was transferred to CSC 03/12/2012 and I have yet to hear anything. My mom is getting married at the end of October this year and I'm terrified I won't be able to travel by then. It seems like there is no way to get any information, and even if you do it is completely unreliable, it is so upsetting to me. I am going to send in my AP application tomorrow, I'm really kicking myself for not doing it originally but I didn't think I would need it and then this wedding came as a last minute sort of thing. Could contacting my congressman help?

  2. Lise - I've been adjusting pretty well, although same as you I really miss my family. With all the wedding planning and immigration stuff, every now and then I find myself just needing my mommy! :( Otherwise it's been really great finally being here with Blake and our friends and moving forward in our lives in a new and exciting (and scary!) way. Good luck with your hopeful travels, I'm sure it'll work out and you'll get there!

mochamich - Yeah the RFE sucks but at least its something happening, haha. And now we know we're on the right track otherwise though right? Always trying to look on the bright side!

    gyselle - congratulations!!

  3. Had an RFE asking for Blake's taxes (we sent in this years and last years, to be safe) a few weeks ago, and today we got a letter saying our case was sent to California. I hear this means we might not have to do an interview? I hope that's the case! Still waiting on EAD, feeling a little lost about when things will be happening and what's coming up, but that's my own fault for not doing my research really. I wish I had filed for AP, it's stressing me out that I still can't visit Canada, but oh well. Eager to move forward more.

    Wedding in 53 days :)

  4. Well, my biometrics have been done and then two weeks ago we got a letter asking for the most recent year of tax returns. I suppose we'll file this years' taxes asap and then send those in?

We still haven't heard anything about my EAD, which is majorly frustrating me :( We sent in our paperwork mid-late November (haha, same as our K1!) and I still don't know what's up with any of it! They haven't even asked us for our marriage certificate, which I forgot to send in originally. I see some of you are checking things online and whatnot, where did you get the information to log on and check things out and whatever?

aughh, I just want to be able to start looking for work! (and I really want some progress/answers for my green card so I can go visit my family later this year)

  5. Christine, look at my timeline, my RFE did not slow things down for long. Have everything ready to go so you can mail your response the same day you receive your RFE or the next day. Good luck.

    Lise

Thanks Lise (and everyone else who replied!). It's our marriage certificate that we forgot, and we've got it sitting in our folder full of all our important documents, multiple copies of it in fact! So we'll be totally ready for when we get the RFE

  6. Thank you BobbyA for answering my question about question 11, very helpful!

CONGRATULATIONS DIZZY!!!!! That is fantastic :)

Assuming I don't find that I'm missing something when we go to put it together, our AOS packet will be going in the mail tomorrow! I'll be glad to have it out of the way since I have so much else on my mind right now - finishing my semester of school, keeping up with cooking and housework, taking care of our new little roommate (hehe, ours is just a puppy! No babies for us for a long time!), preparing for Christmas and getting gifts ready to mail back to Canada... ahh!

  7. Hi guys

It really looks like we have somehow completely lost my passport with my visa in it. We've been through the house over and over and over again, same with the car, and called every place we stayed along the way, and it hasn't turned up anywhere.

What do we do now?? I assume I need to get a new passport, and then...? The montreal consulate does not take phone calls and the reply time for emails is about a month - my visa that I lost is valid until December 14th and we were going to get married next week. Should we go ahead with the marriage, or wait? I'm so lost and am majorly freaking out here.

    Please help!

  8. Hey everybody! Sorry for disappearing these last few weeks, I'm in the US and adjusting to my wonderful new life here. Unfortunately Blake and I are not married yet (we are hoping for Oct.27, since that is when my grandparents, who were married over 60 years, were married) and I haven't even applied for my SSN yet because my birth certificate has gone missing! My mom says she packed it, but I can't find it anywhere, and my dad has a copy but doesn't know it so probably won't find it even though I filled him in, so looks like I have to send away for a new one - on a rush! and wait for that.

Its okay though, its not a race and everything will get done once it gets done.

I am doing AWESOME on the fitness challenge though :P hahah. I've been cutting carbs and doing Zumba classes (have one tonight actually) and I don't have a scale so I can't tell what my results have been so far, but I'm confident that I'll be able to fit into my dress again by wedding time in May.

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who is married now :D

  9. My interview today went really well and I met some other VJ users and made friends with a couple lovely girls - it was great to be there supporting each other, one of them cried when I got my approval! haha. So all in all it went wonderfully and now I am APPROVED!!!!!!

    POE will be September 15th!

I couldn't have done it without you all, thank you so so so so much for helping me get here.
