  1. Hey guys just finished my interview today. Approved i think!

    Here's how it went....

Our interview schedule was at 2:35pm...there around 20 people in the waiting area but only 3 pairs are couples... I knew that they will have same boat with us bec i saw photo albums with them lol. We arrived at 2pm, we waited and waited and observed that the couple before us went inside but after 15mins the guy was sent out and the girl remained inside. this made me scared. Then the guy was waiting outside for 20 mins then the girl finally joined him but with teary eyed.then they were waiting for the IO for 10mins...then he showed up eventually and told them that they just wait for the verdict in the mail.

Finally after them the same IO called my name at 3:10pm. Good luck to us...lol

S1st we let us swore to tell the truth.

    Then he ask us:

    1. How and when we met.

    2. How long have we been together.

    3. What's the rush of having the civil wedding if we are going to do church wedding this July. so i told him that a lawyer

advised us to get green card or at least to get travel parole to reduce hassle when i will try to come back from Philippines.

    4. then he ask us who was the lawyer and if he help us fill up the forms. we told him that we did it our selves and we can't remember the name of the lawyer.lol.. he did not like it.

    5. he then followed..who attended the civil wedding.

    6. What did we do on my husbands birthday. random..

    7. He ask if we have additional documents. We gave our completion certificate for our pre-marriage preparation from our catholic church. We also gave him a copy of the front page of our joint credit card (with the same numbers), savings and checking.

    8. he asks if we have the same car insurance so we said no.

    9. Then we gave him photocopy of our drivers license with the same address.

    10. We gave him our lease agreement and he had issues on the quality of the contract they gave us. Its good the management gave us a separate letter stating that we live in the same address.

    11. Then he ask our pictures. We brought an album (150 photos)... I arranged it from old to new (started when we are babies..lol). Tip: Make sure you know the dates that you went on those pictures esp. if its out of town...Me and my husband travels a lot so we have pictures showing different states. then he ask us if we have plane tickets, hotel receipts and or wedding ring receipts. hehe we dont have anything.

Its just a blessing that he really enjoyed watching our photos. hehe

Then lastly he ask us if we still have supporting documents to give him then we said no.

He said its done just wait for the decision on mail..(3:30pm)

But before that he removed my I-94 from my passport.

He gave us our passports back.

    then we left.

I check my passport and he wrote something. VIOPP.I dont know what this means! anybody?

I have a feeling that we were approved...that's what it meant right? lol

    at 8:30pm i received this.

  2. Hey guys... we had our AOS interview today, so I just wanted to post my experience....

We had our interview at 2:30 at the Bloomington, MN USCIS office. We were called around 2:40 and me and my husband both got up, but the IO said that he wanted to first talk to my husband alone and then me.... it kinda took me by surprise since I was expecting both of us to be interviewed together. Anyway my husband went in first and the IO asked him a bunch of questions about our relationship. Then the IO came out and I went in with him. He made me take the oath. He asked me the same questions that he asked my husband and then put a tick against each when our answers matched. The questions were - When and how did you meet, what did you do on your first date (I told him we went to see Quantum of Solace, asked me if I liked it, I said yeah it was fine, he laughed and said my husband said I didn't like it too much ;) ), do you have any pets, do you like cats or dogs, where and when did he propose, where did we get married, name of the wedding chapel, where did we stay when we got married, when I moved in with him etc..... All our answers matched (except the Quantum of Solace one :) ). He then asked for a photocopy of the rental agreement, any utility bills we had, and I handed over two joint account statements and an email from our energy company stating that we were both on the account. He then asked me all the have you ever been arrested etc. questions and I said No to all of those..... he then asked for my passport, asked me when I came to US, last time I entered US and then said that he will APPROVE the I-130 and I-485 and that we should receive an approval letter and the Green card in the mail in 3 weeks or so.... I was so ecstatic :D .. He then went on explaining about removal of conditions.

All in all it was a breeze... He didn't ask to see any photos (Even though I didn't submit any with out original AOS package) , cards, pay stubs, our marriage or birth certificates, or any photocopies of docs that were originally submitted. He was pretty chatty with my husband and said that since we only married in Feb we probably don't have any bills or bank statements and my husband said no, actually my wife has them and he was quite surprised. The IO guy was very nice and easy to talk to. The only question I have is that he didn't ask for my I-94, I read here that they generally take your I-94 and then send you the approval and GC in the mail. Anyone have any ideas about that?

Hope all you guys have a great interview too..... All the best!!! Now I'll have a GREAT weekend :D

    Congrats!

    Thanks for the update!

    till next time .. ;)

  3. Hi guys, I am February filer, but since everyone is approved already from February, and I was the last one to have interview, I thought I will write here my feedback on how it went since people are still waiting :)

We went through the security and came to the waiting area about 20 minutes before the interview time. By the time our lawyer looked through the documents and our wedding pictures, we were called in by a lady immigration officer. She was all smiley and looked like a nice person.

When we entered the office we had to raise our right hand and swear to tell the truth. When we sat, our lawyer advised the IO that English is not my first language (even though I speak fluently) so I need a little bit more time to put sentences together (since I was nervous!). She asked for our IDs, my birth certificate. The IO then started going through the I-485 confirming our address, name, telephone numbers and etc. Then she went through the "have you ever..." questions. She then did the same to my husband. She also asked me how did I support myself since coming here on tourist visa (May 2008 to May 2009 when I got married). Then she started asking questions about our relationship, where did we meet (I started telling her our story and she seemed to be confused, so I had to repeat and clarify it maybe three times and then our lawyer wanted to clarify it to her too, but she looked at my lawyer and said that the lawyer should not be answering questions (which she wasn't!) and that my lawyer's job is just to sit there (awkward!)! And then the IO wrote everything down what we said. Then she asked when was the next time that we met, when did we become exclusive, when did our relationship got serious, when did my husband proposed to me. As we were talking she kept writing everything down. She asked my husband when did he introduced me to his parents, if I met any of his siblings; if he met any of my siblings; also if we went to honeymoon.

Then she asked to see some evidence. I had everything organized in two folders, one where I kept all the originals and the other one where I had copies for the IO. So my lawyer just handed over the copies to her that were in the immigration folder and the IO started going through it and she looked confused as to what was where (so I told her: this is the renter's insurance, this is the agreement and etc). She skipped through utility bills and wasn't happy that BOTH of our names were not there (some had my husband's name, and the others had my name on it), so we told her that the utility companies don't put two names on the bill, it is one name primary and the other one authorized (not shown on the bill). The IO then told us that she saw other people that had both names on it. So my husband just said that probably some utility companies put two names on it and the other ones don't. So she just kept the copies that had both of our names on it and joint account bank statement. She asked if we filed joint taxes (we didn't).

Then she asked to see pictures. I presented her with our Wedding Picture Book (about 100 pictures) and also another album that had pictures of us throughout the relationship (about 60 pictures). So she quickly skipped through it and I offered that she is welcome to keep any pictures that she wants, so she kept the whole bunch of the extra pictures that I had from our wedding.

Then she asked me how was I able to open a bank account with no SSN, so I told her the story. And then she started typing something on the computer and then printed a paper. I couldn't really see what was written in there but I just saw "Congratulations" and I knew that we were approved. The IO then went to make extra copies of the approval letter and when she came back she said that we were approved and told us about the next step of the condition removal process.

So I would say our interview was about 15-20 minutes and we were out of the building by 10AM.

So YEY! My hubby and I are so happy and I feel like a stone has been lifted off of me :D

So good luck to everyone else who is waiting :)

    Congrtas!

I will have my interview also on tue (may 25). I really appreciate your post. Thanks.

    Till the next journey begins.

    ;)

  4. Correction: I meant to "March Filers" as I am March filer.

In addiotion: I got "Touched" on I-485 and I-130 couple hours after the interveiw.

I-485 - Card Production ordered, this was just from "Acceptance"

I-130 - Still in "Initial Review"

    Hi surfmania,

Congratulations to you and your spouse.

    Thanks for the quick feedback!

Your the first person to be interviewed for march applicants!

Way to start in a very light and good vibe.

All the best for the rest of us!

    :D

  5. Well guys guess what, I received my initial interview notice in the mail today dated 27th of April. My appointment date is June 3rd. No touches or LUDs since 04/07/2010. It is almost over!!!! :innocent::dance:

    Hi icepeck!

    High five to that!

Almost all of us in march filers have their interview date!

Now its time for us to do a lot of reading of the past interviews! and do our homework (practice sample questions!)

I'm nervous at the same time excited!

yup, we are almost there! :D

  6. This thread is not getting a lot of love comparing to the Apr and Feb filer threads.. Let me jump in =)

Seems like lotta people here's got the interview letter.. I'm checking my status online everyday anxiously, as I have to start a job end of June... I had to negotiate really hard for them to wait for me for 2 months. I REALLY hope things come through by then!

    Thnaks! lol.

I think there are not much F1/J1 March applicants. There is another March filers' thread but are mostly from K1.

As they say " the more the merrier" but also " the lesser the faster"

    ;)

  7. Can anyone tell me how to figure out if the USCIS "touched" my application? Where is this? I looked around VJ and could not figure it out.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

    elo!

You can tell that USCIS "touched" your application by noting the "Last Updated Date(LUD)" when you sign up in My case status in your account in USCIS. Its the table or dashboard as they call it.

    best of luck.

    regards,

    ninnie

  8. I have a grey bodycon dress with a black belt from my "secretary" days. LOL. So I'll probably wear that. My husband is going to wear charcoal slacks and a grey button-up shirt. Basically, we're dressing as though it's a job interview.

But I'm sure as long as you look neat and well put-together, it should be fine. They just don't want people arriving in the clothes they wore the night before, or gym shorts.

    hi emvee,

God bless and good luck for your interview.

    impress them.

    regards,

    ninnie

  9. Hi Ninnie,

    Noticed that you said

    I485 -- acceptance (march 19, 2010)????Accepted that fast?

I checked my cases on line, all Initial Review.......

    Kerrin

    hey kerrin...

Acceptance means..its when they received my packet. no hype.hehe

Initial Review is much better because this means that they are starting to process your papers already.

The best update we should get is approval.

    All the best!

  10. Congratulations to you!!!

I wish you all the best and hope that your interview will be a pleasure. And what is most important they will give you an approval right away, without frustrating waiting in the mail.

What are you planning to take to the interview?

    Thanks Alla!

I think I would bring the originals of what i submitted in my 1485 like:

    Lease agreement

    bank statements (saving and checking)

    credit card statements

original marriage certificate with signature of 5 witnesses at our wedding (with pics actual signing it)

    civil wedding album

I hope that would be enough because other than that we don't have any other joint document.

But we have the same address in our own Drivers license so hopefully it can help.

The rest would be documents that pertains with I130.

  11. :wow: That was very fast. Congratulations!! Did you see any LUDs or touches prior to receiving the interview appointment letter?

    Hi Icepeck,

    Thanks!

the funny thing is that i didn't get any LUDs after a day of update after I did my biometrics. No email or text update either.

Even if I check my case status:

    I485 -- acceptance (march 19, 2010)

    I130, I131, and EAD --- Initial review.

I don't know they stopped notifying me even I did file/apply so they can notify me thru text or email.

That's why i was anxiously worried....unnecessary anxiety! lol

But as they say "no news is good news" (applies to no RFE) lol

I'm just thankful the process for my application is very fast.

Hopefully I will have a successful interview too...

I'm sure you'll get yours soon!

    :D
