  1. For India, you will need two PCCs, unless your passport is less than 6 months old.

One from your local PS for your current residence. And one more from your passport issuing RPO.

Applicants from Chennai and Bombay were able to get by with submitting one for NVC and providing the other at the interview but Sean John's case proves that this trend is no longer applicable.

Both PCCs MUST be submitted to NVC in order to get a CASE COMPLETE.

You can send your packet in and then wait for them to RFE you. Respond to the RFE with those PCCs. But yes, get on them right away.

I got my PCCs while waiting for our NOA2. They are valid for 1 year for embassy purposes. Took 3 weeks for the PS one and 1 week for the RPO PCC.

Thanks Sachinky. As Deep said, should done that too. Trying to figure out if sending the package without the PCC's and then waiting for an RFE or waiting for the PCC's would be faster.

  2. Yes, you are absolutely required to submit a Police Certificate to NVC. You need to send and include it together with your DS230 packet, otherwise you'll definitely get an RFE for that..and also, you need to bring another one during the interview.

Is there no other way to get the PCC earlier than 45 days?sad to hear about that..but maybe you can ask Sachinky for specific details about getting a PCC 'cause shes from india..Good luck to you.. :)

Thanks jrd. Yep, trying to figure out ways to get this sooner. So does that mean we need to get two PCC's? one for NVC and one for the interview?

  3. if the 3 of you combined are sponsors and make enough money to qualify, you don't have any problems.

but you have to show proof of all 3 of your incomes as current. (example pay stubs for all of you)

and probably some bank statements showing how much money you have.

sounds like you guys may not be making enough money though....see what your combined income is!!

yeah i have to send it to the NVC, but i don't know if they expect someone who didn't file at the embassy to bring a copy to the interview. i assume they would already have it. but the website lists it in the interview checklist....

Need some input on the Police Clearance Certificate. Are we required to submit it with the DS-230 package? Can we just take it to the interview? If we do not submit it to NVC, is an RFE guaranteed? We applied for a PCC in Hyderabad, India and the say it will take about 45 days!!!!!!

Any input from anyone is greately appreciated.

  4. Few follow up questions

First- were your parent's passports issued in the last 6 months? because as far as i know if they are older than that they need both clearance certificate from district police as well as passport office.

Second-so you do not really need to have both certificates or both are provided by the passport office? Also which letter did your parents submit at the passport office i mean the letter from nvc and/or uscis? which exact one, please mention.

Thanks for the help in advance. because i have approached the police commisioner's office first because what i have been told is to get that first and then the case can be completed and then i can get passport clearance for the interview.

Have you been able to get a Police Clearance Certificate from the Passport office? What was the process and how long did that take?

    Appreciate any information.

  5. I am new to this forum and have just read through the posts and the guides here.

Our case got transferred to the NVC on 11 March and as of yesterday the online status shows that the IV Bill has been paid. I have the following questions and appreciate anyone's thoughts and responses.

Will a physical DS-230 package be sent now that the IV Bill has been paid?

If yes, will it be sent to the petitioner (me) since the DS-3032 named me?

If a physical package will not be sent, will NVC send us an email or something to submit the DS-230 package?

The "Applicant Document Processing" link on the NVC website says that we need to send in Originals or Certified Copies of the Birth Certificates etc. If we send in Originals, will they be returned to us.

    NVC Case # 03/11

    AOS Bill paid - 3/16

    AOS Sent - 3/18

    IV Bill Paid - 3/22
