  1. Yes, i just returned the greencard and applied for a visitor visa just to visit the in-laws family this summer, and was approved, visa 's issued and now in the process of delivery.

I am Thai ,married to the American husband, now both of us live in China ( my husband teaches for co-program of American University), we applied from the consulate in Shanghai.

I think it's just all about intention, if you can make it clear that you just want to make a visit, not go for another GC ( in case the GC is expired or broken status, like mine) then it's pretty easy.

The thing is , you need to download form 407 from the website, and sign - with other supportive documents :)

    wish ya goodluck!

  2. Thank you for a reply, well i emailed the cosulate twice, one replied me only DS230 recieved,so i had to ask again for the packet 3 and finally, they said YES they recieved it!

Well, it was my bad i didnt register, but you know since i am Thai,we are quiet and a bit slow ( well, quite diff from the western :) I dont think you will understand even ) so at the post, i was about to ask them to register for me, they already throw the letter away and said "done"

About the post i sent from Thailand, in now days if you want to send an air-mail with register or anything letters international, we always have TWO LANG. ( both Thai and English)

so i think the post in Australia could READ it, but oh well. :) cant expect that much.

At least now i know everything is fine and all stuff is in the consulate now i am waiting for P.4 ( even my heart goes back to Thailand, longing for the fun water festival and all dilicious food with easy life home) it's easter time so they might need to slow down and will get on it again after their holidays.

I already emailed and request the earliest interview date and they replied me already, they were kind enough to say they will put me in the first earliest that's avalilable when they already review my P.3 and will give me a notice.aha!

    Thank you anyway, happy easter!

  3. Your fiance will likely have a very hard time getting a K1 visa. Here is an article with more information about drug convictions and drug use related to the K1 visa that might explain things a bit better. At the end of the day you may consider abandoning the K1, get married, and then apply for an immigrant visa. There are waivers available for these types of things for immigrant visas which are not available for non-immigrant visa such as the K1.

Phil is right, better to get married and apply for a married visa. I know one thai girl who was caught by a police 15 years ago for just a little of E drug and it is in the record (forever) , she couldnt get K1 and they told her in here INTERVIEW, her fiance has been with her there all the time and they hired, paid a lot for lawyer(but it is still impossible)

If you tend to fight, better to go to the POSSIBLE way where there are more OPTIONS not just go to the same way that you know NO way to go tho.

:) sorry for my bad English, but i wish you all the best.

  4. Hello everybody,

My name is Gevalin,i am a thai girl but now in Sydney,i and my boyfriend were working holidays here and decided to apply for K1 visa here even both of us are non-australian. Now I have recieved the Pack3 and just sent them on Friday, my DS230 part 1 (they asked to send them asap) I already sent them while i was on holidays for a month in Thailand and I just found it came back last Friday afternoon for some reason (oh well, may be the aussie post cant really read "To" and "From" - in Thai and English, registerd mail)so i just resent them again today.

I just found i didnt register a packet 3 and mostly in there are my original stuff, and since i got the DS230 back I started paranoid about how the Australian post working.

Anybody can advise me if the embassy will let you know when they recieve the packet or not? like the USCIS always inform us via email when they recieve anything.

Thank you very much ,everybody. I wish you all have a good one!

    Cheers,

    Gevalin

  5. Um, both of us live abroad as well, Chad and I met on working holidays in New Zealand and then we traveled together for another 2 years, and we decided to engaged in Thailand, then applied in Australia. We wrote an email asking the consulate first and when they said YES ,we started.

So, i think your case should be almost the same, but better to ask the consulate in the country you both live first.

I am from Thailand and Chad is from USA.,we both decided to apply here because we need Chad's parents to be a co-sponsor, the embassy in Bangkok doesnt take any co-sponsor for k1 anymore.

    goodluck,

    Gev

  6. Great news for you. I'm happy. I suggested to my fiancée to get her police records done early also and she told me that she could not get them without the NOA2 because the Thai government won't give it to anyone without a good reason and they'll ask for the visa document before accepting the reason etc....

How did your fiancée manage to get hers?

Um, actaully they just wanted to have at least the fiance's copy of passport ( USA) then no need NOA2 if you post from another country or in person. I tried to send all stuff (but no NOA2)with my friend from Melbourne to get the police check done, but my friend said she couldnt do it because they needed more stuff, so I had to go back to Thailand (just back to Sydney to get medical exam) and got it ( my NOA2 proved on the day we were on the plane )the police said if i sent it by post from Australia,it would be easier than sending with a person or even come in person.

but i also can get all vaccines done! cheaper in Thailand tho.

I and my fiance'(Chad) were working holidays both in Australia so we decided to apply trough Australian embassy,so it costs more!(medical here is 319 dollars, cant believe it!) but,um hope it is better then.

I am going to take the medical exam tomorrow in Sydney, send all stuff when got a result and wait for an interview date here. Hopefully all done within a few weeks, then i can go back to Thailand, home sweet home!(my fiance is now in Bangkok! wish he here)

    Cheers,

    Gev
