  1. It is possible to "buy" skype credit which allows one to call mobile or land phones for $0.02 USD per minute. We use this method calling both east and west. The call quality is superb to that of calling cards.

Another method, if they have a decent internet connection is to buy a "magic jack" in the US with a "local to the US" number and send it to china with a cheap phone hand set. When the person in china uses it all calls will be a local US call.

Caveat, both of these methods need a computer and internet.

  2. well, I'm not sure if I understood your whole story.

However, speaking of A#, that is the number Immigration provided on your I-129F approval notice. Right next to the "BENEFICIARY" on the top right of the paper.

On your I-129F Receipt notice, which is NOA1, does have A#.

So your A# is on the I-129F approval notice, which is your NOA2.

    Hope this will help you.

    Hi,

    The A# on the K1 I-129F approval notice, NOA2, is A08xxxxxxx

This is the same number shown on the NOA1's for the work permit and advance parole.

BUT the NOA1 for AOS is different A21xxxxxxx !! Only on the AOS NOA???

Why is it different when the same number was used for all of the applications and more important, what needs to be done now?

We are trying to avoid complications.

    Thanks,

    John

  3. Dear VJ,

When filling out the paperwork for AOS, advanced parole, and work authorization we used the A# provided on the K1 visa NOA2 (which also was the same number hand written on the back of the I-94 in her passport). THE 9 digit number.

Upon receipt of the I-797C, NOA1’s for AOS, AP and EAD, the AP and EAD have the same A# from the original K1 visa paperwork.

BUT the A# on the AOS NOA1 is different, and an entirely new number!

Is this normal to have a new A# generated? Please advise on how we should proceed. Who should we call?

We are trying to avoid difficulties / problems / delays etc.

    Many thanks,

    John

  4. Hello Everyone who has had POE at O'Hare,

My Fiancee's POE will be Chicago O'Hare. Does anyone have any suggestions for an easy meeting point after she moves through the immigration process and reclaims her luggage? I am not too familiar with the International terminal there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, along with specifics as we are not familiar with the airport.

I am assuming there is a lobby outside of the customs declaration area, if so, is it terminal 5? If not, what do I look for? Suggestions for parking?

Finally, how long does the POE paperwork take?

    Thank you,

    John

  5. Ultimately all of this will end up at GUZ for the interview. You can not submit more information after the initial filing (unless RFE), therefore search on 'front loading". Among other things, GUZ likes to see the length of relationship, communication ability and time together (travel). Emails / Email logs help prove the first two.

    Good luck

  6. Yes, there was a Kodak shop, 1/2 hour service that we used. My sense of direction was terrible over there, the easiest way to find the Kodak shop and Citic Bank is to walk across the street from the consulate front steps, turn left at the park and follow the side walk to the end of the park. The left hand side of the Plaza is the Kodak shop, you need to walk around and behind for the Citic. We did not try Paying the Citic in USD, only RMB. My bank charged something rediculously low 1.5 USD transaction fee per 2500 RMB, so I only used the ATM and RMB. BTW, call your bank and let them know you will be in China between X date and Y date and will use your card. China is a cash society. I think we paid 1 or 2 RMB per pic at kodak.

Good luck, we had a very good GUZ experience. If you sit in the 4th floor coffee shop while she is in her interview, be prepared to pay 55 to 58 RMB for the first cup of coffee!

  7. You also need to pay the fees at the Citic bank before the interview in cash. The ATM's in China would only let me take out 2500 RMB per day so you may have to plan ahead. She will need her passport, GUZ number etc. when paying at Citic. We arrived on Monday and had the interview Wednesday. Take a few pics and have them printed out and include them in the photo album. Make sure she has your passport during the interview too. In all we had a great experience.

    Good luck, John

  8. Hello, I received my NOA1 on June 24,2010. But nothing since. Has anyone else on this board who applied in June 2010 heard anything or received their NOA2 ? They touched my return on June 28, but nothing since. I see everyone else seems to be waiting from june, but I am just starting to get anxious. It has been over 3 months and I have seen people on here who got their NOA2 in 1 month. Bill

Hang in there Bill, CSC is a bit busy right now. Seems to be 109 days....

Once you get past NOA2, the time moves very quick....

  9. Darnell, Does a K-1 Visa qualify for Electronic Processing? I would really like to avoid that 3 month wait in China Customs. Thanks, Bill

Speedytax, we are in the middle of the K1 process and our file was recently sent to GUZ. I think the total delay was less than 2 weeks, I can not verify which method it was shipped. Watching others timeline, it iseems that the file transfer has sped up considerably.

    Good luck.

  10. FWIW we submitted a photocopy of the decree (all 8 pages) that was mailed to us by the courthouse. It had the judges name rubber stamped and "Filed with the clerk" rubber stamped on the back page. No dice, we received an RFE for it. I had to go to the courthouse and get a "stamped" one with the embossed seal. They accepted that one.... Your mileage may vary. If I had to do it over, I would have orginally sent one that is embossed.

  11. I have a question too about starting the K-1 process. I am a recent divorcee. My home state (Wisconsin) in which the marriage and divorce occurred. In this state, remarriage cannot occur until 6 months after the divorce is granted. So, my question is, can I start the K-1 process before the waiting period is over knowing that the K-1 process will take time and given the 3 month window after the fiance arrives in the US?

Sammy, I am in WI too and am in the same situation. It is my understanding that you can not file. One of the criteria for filing is that you are "able" to be married. Unfortunately you are not "able" to be married for 6 mo after the divorce is finalized here in WI.

    Good luck,

    John
