I wouldn't worry about a reminder letter. Just file when you know your window starts. Its not as stressful, just a waiting game again.

He has to be a US citizen before he could apply to bring her here to live. She could apply for a tourist visa but again it is for 6 months at a time and she would have to go back. The embassy would determine how long a visa is valid for but visits are limited to 6 months per visit. Jamie, the guides are a great place to get info because some times the way people answer you on here come across nasty and yes there are some rude people here...but there are also some GREAT people here giving good info. Wish you best of luck on everything. I always went to guides before I asked anything and usually I could find my own answers.

I agree with Rina, Egypt is definitely more strict on requirements. I have never seen them approve someone who didn't meet the minimum requirements because you are the one responsible for them when they get here...well you and co sponsor if needed. I have seen them hold papers waiting for new co sponsor. They will look at it this way: if you don't make enough money then how will you support them when they do get here because they can't work until they get the AOS also.
Good luck and hope you find a co-sponsor.

Do not book ticket until he has visa in hand. They tell you 2 wks but can take longer. Also check the price of one way versus round trip, some times a RT can be cheaper. Tickets at last minute from Egypt have never been cheap. I always used cheaptickets.com but shop around even checking the actual airline website for their price.

I would send the letter again and make sure you get it certified with a return receipt for your records.

Spouses of U.S. Citizens
Generally, certain lawful permanent residents married to a U.S. citizen may file for naturalization after residing continuously in the United States for three years if immediately preceding the filing of the application:
the applicant has been married to and living in a valid marital union with the same U.S. citizen spouse for all three years;
the U.S. spouse has been a citizen for all three years and meets all physical presence and residence requirements; and
the applicant meets all other naturalization requirements.
Check the guide section and look for US naturalization. It gives you all the details

I believe you need to talk to a tax expert, even though you were residing in Australia and working there, you still need to file taxes here....I would call a accountant or local IRS office. The IRS office would be the best to answer that for you. Good luck.

Egypt does not allow to be filed in Egypt. You have to mail it to the US even if you are living in Egypt. There are many people here that can give you the newer info on this. I do have a friend living there now and mailed her packet to the US address for those living in Egypt. Check the US embassy site for Cairo for that info as it can change.

I did post this on my FB page as well and hoping someone will let me know something.

My husband doesnt feel the need to become a USC. I do however think he should at some point down the road. It can open other job opportunities for him and allows him to vote. I do also know it makes it easier for us to travel (not that that is a valid or a good reason to become one). It is his choice though and I support him either way.
-
Check the certified number at the end of the day just to allow the post office scanners to upload delivery information. Since you mailed it on the 8th and it is only the 13th today. It should be any day now. It traveled over the weekend. I work at the post office and deal with P.O Boxes. Im pretty sure they have a courier pick up their mail.
-
If it shows delivered then someone signed for it. You can send certified to P.O. Boxes, they just leave notice and then whomever picks up the mail comes in and signs for it.

Sorry he hasnt found work...mine is a lawyer but here he works as a zone manager at Walmart. He was willing to start at the bottom just to start working and he wanted to help with supporting the household in any kind of way. Just keep trying, Tamer started going to the employment office on his own 2 times a week.
Best of luck.

I pray she gets out and reports him. I helped a friend (who's husband was from a MENA country). He became abusive to her not long after he got here and admitted to her that he was using her. His plan was to leave her as soon as his girlfriend got here on a student visa and he held over her head that her parents cosponsored him and he would make sure they provided for him. He had her parents convinced it was her that was the issue. He refused to work or even try to get a drivers license. He sat his #### at home and did NOTHING. She did it all, made his food, tea, rolled his cigarettes...ect. He was verbally abusive to her kids and both physically, verbally and mentally abusive to her.
They her and the parents finally bought him a ticket home and took his greencard from him, made copies and sent letters and evidence to immigration of his intentions. She also had divorce papers served to him in his country and sent all those copies and the final decrees to DHS.
Not only women but men often suffer abuse and are too embarrassed to get out of it becuase they dont want to hear the "I told you so" line.
GET HELP AND GET OUT....no abuse is worth it.

Send as they are but I would have them translated after the interview and before traveling to the US. It is cheaper to have them all translated there in EGYPT but expensive to have it done here in the US. You never know when you might need them here in the US and it helps to have it ready.
-
I wouldnt send the originals of airline tickets, phone cards ect...copies did fine. There will be certain documents they dont want a copy of and will want the originals.
-
You wouldnt get a US passport unless you are a citizen of the US....they must have their info confused or forms. I have NEVER heard of an interview waiver either. Has your lawyer got started on the NVC part of the process yet, and go ahead and call them and ask them for ALL the documents you will need. Lawyers can delay your stuff because they sit on it....why be in a hurry for something that doesnt affect you (and it doesnt directly affect them).
I hope you will get the info you are wanting and congrats on your pregnancy. I hope it goes well.
-
Have you looked at others timelines for EGYPT to find out how they compare to yours. Also in the country portal there is a link to interviews...many of us have posted our experience with the interviews and questions here. I hope this helps.
towards the top of Egypt's portal page is quick links...you will find alot of this info there. The interviews are under consulate reviews and you can check out other Egypt members here too.

Since the baby is yours and you are a US citizen, they may require a DNA test but the child is yours and you will file for a birth abroad (if the baby is born there) and then file for a US passport once you have the birth abroad certificate. Your wife needs to get her passport done soon, while travelling will be easier on her as her pregnancy is early on. Good luck and read the guides and shortcuts for your country of filing....there usually is a wealth of knowledge and issues for each country.
I hope you have gotten some info you need.
ONE BIG TIP: always tell the truth. I believe the form asks if you have any children ( at the time you answered the forms what you have is a pregnant wife...no born children at the time) and you answered truthfully.
When you post of here you might not always get all the answers you need and too many people of here will attack, but just take what you can from the answers you get and leave the rest. People here are not always the nicest and can be quick to judge....just move on with it and use the guides and portals for the info, not friendships.
-
You might also need to check into the coverage for pregnancy and well child visits....some insurances cover 100% of prenatal visits and well child check ups. I have Blue Cross but mine is federal and I have to say Im happy with mine...but check into other because I do agree it is HIGH.

My husband is a lawyer in Egypt but here he took the first job he was offered....its Walmart. He works hard and is moving up in the company. He does enjoy it and wants to make the best of whatever he is doing. I would also suggest going in and picking up applications or filling them out on the computers in the stores. Its also good to follow up with them after a week or two. Apply for jobs of all types that you think you might like. Tamer went almost every day to the employment office and got their help too. They were all very good with him and it gave him the confidence of looking for work on his own, while I was on my job.
-
I hope you are feeling better and resting up.
-
The plus side is if he enters the US after you have been married for 2 yrs means he should get the 10 yr greencard...but really I hope he will be here before that.

waiting period before remarriage after divorce (split topic)

She needs to make sure she is following her state guidlines as well as Egypt's guidlines.
Example : Egypt's wait is 3 months. The state she is from wait is 6 months....they she can't remarry based on the state her divorce is issued until the 6 month wait. She needs to look at the divorce papers or ask her lawyer what her wait is.
