  1. Approved! We got the text today and our card has been ordered.

A summary of our timeline is as follows:

    I-751 Application sent around July 25th 2013

    I-751 NOA July 30th 2013

Biometrics taken on August 30th 2013

Transferred to CSC October 4th, 2013

    Approved November 18, 2013

So the whole process took about four months.

Good luck everyone and thanks to the VisaJourney for all the help.

  2. Hi, We got a letter dated 9/17/13 that our case was transferred from VSC to CSC. It looks like that happened to a lot of people. Maybe they are just trying to lower the case load at VSC because it was taking way too long. Here is a little info I found on transferring applications:

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=201bac3a8595a110VgnVCM1000004718190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

They continue using the confusing language. My letter says that the case type is "CRI89 Approved removal of conditions" and this only means that the transfer to CSC was approved, not the application.

    So I'm updating our info.

Our status was just updated today to "On October 4, 2013, we transferred your CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED, to your local USCIS Office for further processing."

    What does that mean?

  3. Approval took about two weeks after they received our response with no interview required.

Yeah, a happy ending. I imagine it was a bit of a pain to collect your 200 pages of evidence! After reading some of the posts on your thread I was getting scared for you! In the end you did what USCIS asked you to do and had almost immediate approval! Lesson here for me: is not to jump to worse case scenarios just because USCIS is asking for more evidence, even though at times it seems excessive or ridiculous to us! I am happy things worked out for the best for you! Have an awesome day!

    Lise

    Thank you.

I guess it's human nature to always think the worst, especially in this situation.

It was a pain. But after we calmed down from the initial shock and disappointment. We just took our time and tackled it piece by piece until we had everything. Also it really helped that ROGERJ sent me a message saying they went through the same thing and after they sent all the info they were approved quickly. It's important that we all share our experiences because it will probably help someone in the future.

  4. APPROVED !!!

Approval took about two weeks after they received our response with no interview required.

Just a follow up to help someone who might get a similar RFE, here is what we did.

Firstly, we carefully and thoroughly submitted all the information they requested even items that seemed redundant such as asking for copies of driver's license three times.

Then, added extra evidence such as pictures, scans of magazine covers showing name and mailing address, ebay purchases, etc.

Lastly we assembled all the pages (around 200 total) and created a cover sheet with an index where to find specific items.

If anyone in the future has any questions please feel free to message us.

  5. Hey all!

My husband has his aos interview this Thursday. i was just wondering if we need pay stubs from my dad (joint-sponsor)? We have his and my full official tax statements from the IRS. I know it would help, but my dad is a doctor and gets tons of different pay stubs from different hospitals, so it might be complicated.

    Help!

I would bring as much documentation as possible. I don't think you can have too much.

  6. Yes, the letter is boilerplate and they may have copied/pasted and put it under a list of items needed from the petitioner when the first item in that note refers to something required from the beneficiary. The clue is "The USC must submit a similar statement" which indicates that the beneficiary provides the first statement in the list.

It would be slightly clearer if the items were swapped, ie "Please provide a statement about the 3 traits of the beneficiary. The Beneficiary must provide a similar statement about the USC." But this thing is copy/pasted, boilerplate response. They want a list each from each party about the other person. There is no need to over-think this.

" List and describe the three most attractive characteristics/traits possessed by the U.S. citizen spouse (petitioner) that initially drew the beneficiary to him/her."

But dose the objective " TO HIM/HER" mean whom is required to list and describe the three traits? Thanks.

Oh, this drives us crazy :(

  7. It means have the beneficiary list 3 traits about the petitioner and have the petitioner list 3 traits about the beneficiary. It's not confusing or a trick question.

    Specially after completing whole sentence:

" PETITIONER MUST list and describe the three most attractive characteristics/traits possessed by the U.S. citizen spouse (petitioner) that initially drew the beneficiary to him/her. The US citizen spouse must prepare a similar statement discussing the three characteristics/traits that he/she found most attractive about the beneficiary."

" BENEFICIARY MUST list and describe the three most attractive characteristics/traits possessed by the U.S. citizen spouse (petitioner) that initially drew the beneficiary to him/her. The US citizen spouse must prepare a similar statement discussing the three characteristics/traits that he/she found most attractive about the beneficiary."

    Which way makes sense?

  8. Check out this posting I made last year. Sounds like your situation and mine are much alike.

    www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/270338-rfe-with-18-categories/

Just give them what they ask for and do not stress over it. During our process, I was told on 3 separate occasions (by differing government personnel processing our application) that the process is designed, intended, and managed in a manner to create difficulty whenever possible.

The specific explanation I got in Guz was that our government was doing everything possible to ensure MY protection from fraud. She further explained that so many applicants (men) were easily deceived into believing a relationship was legitimate, when in fact, there were usually (not even often, but usually) "other" motives.

    Hang in, and good luck!

Thanks for the links, it is very helpful.

We noticed that you were required for 3 traits too. Do you still remember that it was exactly like ours :

"List and describe the three most attractive characteristics/traits possessed by the U.S. citizen spouse (petitioner) that initially drew the beneficiary to him/her. The US citizen spouse must prepare a similar statement discussing the three characteristics/traits that he/she found most attractive about the beneficiary."

We both had to read this several times to try to understand what they actually want on this item, it does not make sense, for our case, all the evidences are required to provide by "petitioner", so it does not look like to require to describe 3 traits for each other, it looks like to require " petitioner " to describe 3 traits about himself to initially drew the beneficiary to him and " beneficiary" respectively.

  9. I randomly decided to check our status on the uscis website today and there it was, RFE. I have no clue what ours could be for either! Keep me posted as to what yours was.. he got everything else just fine, AP and EAD!

We got one a couple months ago, they lost our medical or they wanted another one.

Then, a few weeks ago, we got another wanting a whole list of things. From reading these forums, it looks like they are hassling everyone.

  10. Hi to all of my VJ friend

After having filed for AOS two months back, now the CSC has come back to us asking for documents (some of them totally pointless) from the beginning of the process. We don't know if they lost our papers while transferring our case to CSC (as we filed for K-1 with VSC and AOS was with NBC) or what ? Below are my questions, Request all of you to please read them and help me with your advise/suggestions/experiences :

I am confused as to how can I provide them the pay stubs, checking account balances, utility bills (phone, gas, electricity etc),credit card bills in my name. Since I am still not authorized to work here, so I don't have any of these. They are also asking for my driver's license which I don't have since I can't have a license without my green card (As per DMV officials). What should we do for these ?

Secondly, they are asking for wedding announcements to my friends and relatives in India. We didn't do any announcement (in written) since they couldn't have come here anyways. What should we do for the same ?

Also, they are asking for my medical records (vaccination etc) which they should have got in the packed letter (which I handed over to POE official). I had gone through all the vaccinations etc. from one of the doctors on the panel list of USCIS in the month of April 2011. As far as I understand they are good for next one year. I have a copy of the G-3025 medical sheet from the doctor (which I included in the file I sent for AOS). What should we do for the same ?

I know we can get a letter from her siblings as to why they were not able to attend the wedding (the reason is that it was a small affair in a court room),pay stubs from her office, her tax transcripts (again.... the 3rd time they are asking for it), more photos, list of people attended our wedding etc but the point is that why are these people so unrealistic and harassing. Its a sad and disheartening situation. :(:(:(:(

Please help me with the above things since some of you might have already gone through this situation. Thanks!!!

We are going through the same thing and got a similar letter recently. Including needing another medical.

Check out my thread to see if it's similar. I might be able to help you or explain some things.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/321928-all-of-a-sudden-lots-of-problems-with-uscis/

  11. Hello everybody! I'm going to use your help again. I am a K-1 visa holder, i married my husband last Saturday and we are working on the AOS package.

I'm just confused about the I-693 form. I got all the vaccinations i needed before my visa interview and i know that i'm not required to have another medical examination since last one was very recent, but do i still need to go to a civil surgeon to complete the form?

    Thank you in advance!

If you do end up needing additional vaccinations, you can usually get them cheaper at a county or gov't health clinic. Take a copy from the health clinic to the civil surgeon and they will transcribe them.

  12. Almost identical issue one year ago. Received a RFE detailing 18 categories of documentation. We responded with literally hundreds of pages of documentation, including some items requested in duplication, and even a few requested 3 times (all on the same RFE). Also with the photo and the newspaper...

Once submitted, we were approved immediately.

Thanks for replying, that's kind of good to hear that we are not being singled out.

They asked for copies of our driver's license twice, one needing notarized.

Here is another thing they wanted:

List and describe the three most attractive characteristics/traits possessed by the U.S. citizen spouse (petitioner) that initially drew the beneficiary to him/her. The US citizen spouse must prepare a similar statement discussing the three characteristics/traits that he/she found most attractive about the beneficiary.

We both had to read this several times to have some idea what they actually wanted on this item.

We are going to do the same and give them mounds of evidence, way more than they are asking.

  13. Oh no I'm not saying he did (or he wouldn't be here asking :P) I'm say that someone might have pretended to be him, or written in saying he said something to them and like you said, I doubt he would have done it, but someone probably said he did.

Don't stress about it too much. Aside from it being immensely upsetting and annoying, you know you have nothing to worry about, so don't worry :)

Thanks, we dont worry about it, just lots of things need to be prepared..

  14. Yep that "notarized affidavit" makes me think that someone DEFINITELY said your relationship was fraud and also that they perhaps said that your husband didn't want to pursue the relationship because normally that affidavit is if the USC sent a letter to withdraw the petition and then changed their mind.

Honestly though I would send everything they're asking for and not stress too much because you know you're a legit couple. Also prepare for a Stokes just in case. Best of luck :)

I trust my husband 100%, we spent every day together since I lived here. From K1 visa, we face things and work together, we love each other very much, we are also best friends, a good team.

USCIS asked for my husband's G-325A, it is the form for K1 visa, looks like they try to review whole case, I hate to say it, but I cant help to think this might be family member caused.

  15. Two other possible suggestions - is there an ex relationship in either of your pasts' where someone is jealous or unhappy that you have married and wants to cause trouble enough to have reported your relationship to USCIS as fraud? and secondly, perhaps there are exterior extenuating circumstances that have happened that have sort of caught the two of you up in the greater repercussions. I didn't see how the two of you met but perhaps the person who introduced you or the organization through which you met (if that is how you met) has created red flags themselves by being involved in less than stellar activities and you are being investigated because they are being investigated. There have been some recent news stories about immigration fraud 'gangs' being identified and many 'couples' now facing charges - it could be somehow one of these has pointed to you by 'association' with some of those involved.

The best advice I can suggest is definitely provide them with what they request plus include additional information about the validity of your relationship. Have affidavits (notarized) from friends and family here in the US who can attest to your relationship as a married couple. If you go to a church, have a letter from the pastor or minister; if you have a family doctor or dentist she has seen, have them write a statement to that effect; see if your mail man will even write a statement that he delivers mail addressed to the two of you at the same address.

You could include several dated photographs with newspapers at different identifiable locations over several days, and include one taken in front of your mail box or your house with the address showing. Start thinking about the different ephemera we gather as a married couple and that starts shortly after everyone knows that you're married - even if it is something like junk mail or a package delivery in both of your names. Open up accounts together at places like Netflix or Costco or Sam's Club and include photocopies of the membership cards.

It does sound like they suspect that the marriage is fraudulent and it is up to you two to prove that it is otherwise. I agree that even with the additional documentation you may be called in for a Stokes Interview. I hope you are able to find out why you have triggered this extra scrutiny.

    Good luck to you both.

Thanks for the well wishes and advice.

There are no "ex" problems with us, but we do suspect a family member, but when this happens, maybe we are just paranoid. No one introduced us and there was no organization involved, we met online and got to know each other for a long time before I visited her in China. We have already gained more evidence naturally by being married since October 2010, like you said such as Costco membership, credit cards, driving school enrollment, learner's permit, etc.

We have until October 18th to submit everything, so we are planning on burying them with additional evidence so to speak :)
