  1. hey guys,

So I'm an us citizen now. I want to find a place to rent but they want to do a background check on me. I came here with a f1 student visa but after a few quarter, I was out of status for a few years ( I did not get SSN until I got married ) but I'm an us citizen now so my question is when when they do the background check, will it show that I was out of status at one point??

  2. Hey guys

Im going to apply to become us citizen soon. I read the instruction but do have a question. when you fill out the N400 form base on married to an us citizen. I know that you to send the tax transcript for the last 3 years, bank statments, morgate. I just wonder do you have to gather as much evidence since the day you get married to prove that the married is legit just like what we had to do when applied to remove the condition of residence? i mean do you have to resend them all of the stuff you sent them when you fill out the form I751? ( evidence of bone fide relationship)

    Thank you for your time!

  3. I think usually take them 1 week to a month to make decision. Most likely 2 weeks. In my case, it took them a week since the day they received the package to make decicion. Don't worry if you have not heard from them yet, they did not text or email me when they made the decision. I did not know until I got a letter from them. Good luck everyone

  4. i sent everything that i said on the first post, even we have different bank account but the billing anddress is the same so i sent all bank statements from both of us in the last 3 years, plus some hospital bill, purchase that i made, even just have my name on it. it does show that both my husband and i live in the same anddress. I sent it back 2 weeks ago and they approved my case exactly 1 weeks after they received the package so that was quicker that i thought.

  5. Hey guys

I have a few question but before judging me Please read the whole post carefuly ( iTS NOT LIKE WE DONT HAVE ANY FINANCIAL TIE)

Here is what we sent them before received the RFE letter

Copy of car loan papers ( both name on it, its for a new car so it is quite a bit of money that we have to take reponsibility for but it only started in february last year)

Joint heath insurance, joint car insurance, Life insurance polocy show that we are eachother benefactor, my husband 401 k show I am the beneficiary

and we sent other things as well but the things we dont have is joint bank account, joint lease or mortgage or both name on the utility bills ( stupid me, JUST never think about it). My husband bought the house before we get married, everything is on his name and I just never think about adding my name on them.

so MY QUESTION IS DO WE NEED TO EXPLAIN FOR THEM WHY WE DONT HAVE THOSE THINGS IF SO WHAT WOULD BE THE GOOD REASON TO EXPLAIN TO THE USCIS THAT WE DONT HAVE JOINT BANK ACCOUNT OR JOINT UTILITY BILLS?

on the RFE letter they ask for evidence of commual residence, this documentation should reflect the name of both name. I dont know if they just want us to show that we live at the same anddress or they want us to prove that we share financial reponsiblity since we get married.

we both have saperate bank account but the billing anddress is the same, all utility bills is on my husband name, I do have magazine subscribtion, hospital bill, purchase made by me deliveved to the same anddress that we live. I guess it can show that we live together ( I know it is not strong but we have to send what we have)

we have a 3 years contract with alarmforce with both name on it ( started jun last years) that im going to send them, I also have my retirement plan that name my husband is the beneficiary.

Im going to send them 2010 tax transcript, 2011 tax transcript, I sent 2011 copy of tax return before, and copy of 2012 tax return ( all joint filling as married couple) send more photos, 2 affidavid letters from our friend and my parent in law, send wedding cards, birthday card from my parent in law, cards that we give to eachother.

    what do you guys think?

    Thank you for your time!

  6. Life insurance etc doesn't actually show someone that you trust them with money

Did you read the part that i said we have joined auto loan. Sure it is not as strong as the mortgate payment however it still show that we trust eachother with money. It is $400 monthly payment for the next few years. Some people have rental lease but most likely it is 12 months lease.

as for the tax return, if you look at the original post, I said that we sent them 2011 copy of tax return, im going to send them copy of 2010 and 2012 tax return ( join filling as married couple)

    To everyone

We both have a bank account with chase ( individualy, different account number)

we can print out our bank statements start from the beginning 2009 up until now ( we get married in jun 2010). We moved in together over a year before we get married. Even we dont share same account with chase and the billing anddress is the same for both of us.

Should I do it? if so do i have to print every page on the statement or just the first page that show the anddress, account # and date

  7. No need to pay an attorney to tell you what you need to send in for your RFE. In my opinion, don't waste your money. That's what VISA JOURNEY is for ... help without an attorney (I also feel that they can slow your case down ... who is better at making sure everything is done quickly and in a timely matter than yourself?!) If what you have isn't enough, you might get called in for an interview. Send in every piece of info you have from the time you were married up until now, i.e. financial and that shows you have comingled your finances. Also, anything else you have that shows you have comingled your life. THAT is what they are looking for. Life insurance policies = good. Having both of your names on the deed is not a must, in my opinion. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out that way ... just like another poster said above ... wasn't logical for them to refinance at a higher rate just to add her spouse. There are definitely other proofs that you live together, and have a good faith marriage.

Thank you so much for your support. I dont know should we send bank statements ( saperapte account) but has the same billing anddress to show that we live together?

  8. Not to pour salt in your wound or anything Bearstory, but I completely agree with usagirl. Did you not research ahead when you started the immigration process? It clearly states that during the ROC process, you will have to show proof of sharing a residence and finances. The first thing I started doing (not only for paperwork reasons, but also to help my husband build up his credit in the States) was add his name to everything the moment he moved here.

I totally understand where you're coming from on the shared finances thing, so all we do is have a joint checking account for bills only. We tally up who owes what and deposit our halves into that account, then set up auto bill pay for all bills to come out of it. We still keep all other finances separate.

i thought life insurance, 401 k, car loan are enough for to prove finances join, as for share residence, i thought the anddress on our driver lience is the same which show that we live together. ( i was wrong)

  9. I'm sorry but I have to disagree on the bold text. We tried this ourselves. The house deed is under my name and it goes hand in hand with the mortgage. We asked the lawyer to change the deed, but then they said that it won't happen until the lender changes the mortgage, as well. We TRIED to put my husband's name in the house deed, but due to his financial adventures in the past, the mortgage rate just changed significantly, and unfortunately not to our benefit.

So we decided to leave the deed and the mortgage be in my name, instead of suffering from the financial implications of such change.

This could only be with our lender :X Other lenders might make this easier.

    On topic:

Sorry, why can't you add your name to his account or his name on yours? I'm having a hard time understanding it :( If you have disagreements in financial management, it doesn't have to actually be implemented in the accounts. You could still keep your separate accounts and do your personal financial transactions separately? I mean, I chip in to pay for the utility bills, but I shop using my personal account, tee hee ;)

Its not like i cant add his name to my bank account, or he can add my name on the utility bills. Its just a phone call away but We just never think about it ( yes im so piss at myseft for not doing that). Now im worry that it is a little too late

  10. Thank you all for your repond. I dont know if some of you read the whole post but its not like we dont have anything financial related that why they did not ask for •Financial Records (evidence of joint ownership of assets and joint responsibility for liabilities etc). I read other people case and some get ask for the financial records

    I have

Copy of car loan papers for Lp with Ap as the Co-Borrower ( New car so it is pretty big amount of money)

Life insureance for Ap with Lp named the benefactor, and life insurance on Lp with Ap named the benefactor. (The life insurance paper showing the life insurance on Lp dose not have her name, but simple says "spouse", and Ap as the policy holder is the benefactor)

Copy of 401K plan for Ap that names Lp his beneficiary.

copy of my retiment plan that name my husband the beneficiary.

so its not like we dont trust eachther with money, i mean the life insurance, the 401k plan, the auto loan

we do have copy of tax return for 2010 join filling as married couple. I did not sent the first time because I did not think they need it ( i was dead wrong I know)

  11. You missed two key pieces of evidence, joint bank account and joint lease/mortgage.

You could each have your own bank account but put your spouse on it in case of emergencies. I would recommend that just for life. The other person doesn't have to use it if you want separate finances.

They don't care about your separate bank accounts, so don't send that. I would send a letter explaining why you don't have that, though.

What about another year of taxes? 2012 taxes were due so you should have that to add. What about 2010? Were you not married then?

Thank you all for your reponds. some said that we dont trust eachother with money. I dont know if you guys read the whole post but i want to clear some.

    we have

Copy of car loan papers for Lp with Ap as the Co-Borrower.

Life insureance for Ap with Lp named the benefactor, and life insurance on Lp with Ap named the benefactor. (The life insurance paper showing the life insurance on Lp dose not have her name, but simple says "spouse", and Ap as the policy holder is the benefactor)

Photocopies of automobile insurance policy from Progresssive' that has both our names, Lp and Ap on it.

Photocopies of letters from Bluecross Blueshield with the same member ID number and same group number showing a joint health insurance policy

Copy of 401K plan for Ap that names Lp his beneficiary.

  12. Hi guys

I just received the RFE letter a few days ago. THey asked for evidence of good faith marriage that covers the period of time from the date of the marriage to the present date. They gave us example like birth cerificate of our child ( WE DO NOT HAVE CHILDRENT YET)AND THey asked for evidence of COMMUNAL RESIDENCE or any other documenttation which show that marriage was not entered in order to circumvent us immigration law. Here is what we sent them before ( LP is me and AP is my husband who is US citizen)

Pictures of Ap and Lp, wedding, vacation pictures

Copy of plane tickets of trip that Ap and Lp took togather visit Lp family in another country

Photocopies of 2011 federal tax and state tax transcript showing filing status as “Married Filing Jointly” for 2011.

Photocopies of driver licenses of Ap and Lp, showing a shared address

Photocopies of automobile insurance policy from Progresssive' that has both our names, Lp and Ap on it.

Photocopies of letters from Bluecross Blueshield with the same member ID number and same group number showing a joint health insurance policy

Copy of 401K plan for Ap that names Lp his beneficiary.

OK SO we do not have joint bank account ( im a saver and seem like we always have disagreement over how much should we spend and on what so to avoid the headeche, we never have a joint bank account)

and for some reason I just never think about adding my name on the utility bills such as cable, internet, gas, water so we dont have anything with both our name on it. Since they asked for more so below is what we have

We both have a bank account with chase ( individualy, different account number)

we can print out our bank statements start from the beginning 2009 up until now ( we get married in jun 2010). We moved in together over a year before we get married. Even we dont share same account with chase and the billing anddress is the same for both of us. Do you think it is is good enough to show the uscis that we live together?we do have an auto loan bill that have both our name on it but it started in february 2012 up until now.

copy of individual retirement plan which name my husband as primary beneficiary in case something happen to me.

we already sent them copy of 2011 tax return so we are going to send them Copy of tax return for 2010 and 2012 ( filling as married couple)

copies of our newest insurance cards

affidavit letter from parent in law

copy of Flight + hotel package reservation ( honey moon, vacation trip) and more photos.

    Thank you for your time!

  14. Hey guys,

SO i just recently find out that i made a mistake when i sent the I751 package.

I was confused and thought copy of the tax return is the tax transcript so on the cover letter, i wrote that i sent the tax transcrip but turn out that i sent them copy of the tax return for 2011 ( both federal tax and state tax but I only sent them the copy of the first page).

I did not send copy of tax return for 2010 ( we filed the tax return as married couple in 2010 but i did not have the 2010 copy by the time i sent the i751).

So i just got the tax transcript for 2010 and 2011. on the 2010 tax trancript, they spelled my name wrong. My first name starts with letter L but since my husband used hand writing form so he wrote l and the IRS employee thought my fist name starts with letter I, that what they put in the system. I called them and they said there is no way to change the name on tax transcript but as loong as the SSN match then it should be fine. The SSN on the tax transcript matched my SSN so it should be fine right.

below is what i sent in the I751 package

    ABout 10 pictures

Airplan tickets show that we booked the same flights travel to Vietnam together

Copy of 2011 tax return joint filing ( both federal tax and state tax but I only sent them the copy of the first page).

COpy of driver lience, both me and my husband show that we live in same anddress

copy of auto insurance polocy ( on the driver section, it has both our name as the driver, I dont know if its good enough or i should request the auto insurance company to send us something to show that we are under one account

Photocopies of letters from Bluecross Blueshield with the same member ID number and same group number showing a joint health insurance policy

Copy of 401K plan for my husband that names me his beneficiary.

Copy of car loan for me and my husband as the co borrower.

Life insureance for my husband with me named the benefactor, and life insurance for me with my husband named the benefactor. (The life insurance paper showing the life insurance for me dose not have my name, but simple says "spouse", and my husband as the policy holder is the benefactor)

So my question is I already sent I751 and done biometric, now should i send them the tax transcript for 2010 and 2011?

    Thank you for your help!

  15. To all the members BEARSTORY, HAMADA135, SILVERMUG who has done early bio.

Q - you took appointment letter, your ID, SSN and just walked in to have the thing done early

Did you have to explain anything to the office?

    Can you please share?

I am thinking of doing early bio too.

I did not have to explain anything to them. I just brought the biometric letter and my ID then showed it to them, they did not even look at the appoiment date. There was no one there when i got to the office. I was in and out within 15 minutes.
