  1. What if he wants to join later What is the procedure.I had already paid $400 for his fee so canshe file later to join or something & does anybody know which form she needs to fill out.

    Thanks

    Dear Friend,

The best advice in this scenario would be that your brother in law should attend the interview which is ofcourse a matter of few hours. At he time of visa receipt, all of them will have 6 months time before they can travel to USA. Therefore, your sister can travel earlier and Binlaw can travel at his convenience but definitely before expiry of IV which is 6 months from the date of issuance.

  2. Thanks for sharing your experience with me but I have added my Mother's Name also in English Translation this is an additional information which I put just to provide them full info about it. But now I am confused will that gonna create any problem as in your case you didn't write your Mother's Name in the English Translation of your Birth Certificate.

What you say on this will it gonna create any problem for me or even if they ask me if I tell them that why I enter my mother's name in english version is just to provide you the names of both of my parents.

You should only submit what you have already submitted in NVC. You have already made a mistake so do not repeat it. If they ask you purpose of addition of name in BC, you can explain them that this was just to facilitate EMB/NVC and I hope they will understand your position.

  3. Hi everyone,

Please respond if anyone knows, NVC accept Laminate copy of original document. My mother sent me her original birth certificate (Laminate copy). I have read somewhere before someone was saying nvc doesn't accept laminate copy.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi,

I want to know that my mother filled petition for me in june 2004 when she got US citizenship, than i got married in 2007. now i am in F3 category. I am now waiting for my visa. plz help me so i can make estimate of time to get visa. plz also explain me that how long it will take me to get to USA.

    Regards

    Roose

I am also in the same category (country Pakistan. It took us 9.5 years until we were interviewed in March 2010 and now we are waiting for our passports to be returned with visa inshallah.

  5. Hi I have a question regarding birth certificate. In original birth certificate only father and grandfather names are showing and no mother name because there is no field placed by the Govt to show the mother's name on the birth certificate but in the English translation I wrote mother's name also although in original no mother name mentioned.

My petition is already approved and the case now in NVC so in later stages will this cause any problem when NVC asks to submit the originals again and lastly in the US Embassy where my interview will be held.

    Dear Mansoor,

Dont worry I have had the same problem. I have birth certificate issued from KMC, (Karachi Metropolitan corporation - no longer exists) where only my father name was written and I had sent the same original certificate along with english translation without even mentioning the name of mother. The same was accepted by NVC and I was interviewed in US embassy Islamabad few days back and they did not raise objection over it. good luck

  6. Every visa issued has 6 months validity period to be used. You can get the visa and use it within six months. Nowhere is it required that you all have to travel together.

Thank you dear milimelo. You know why I am confused about this... Derivative applicants have two options 1) to accompany principal. 2) follow to join.

So if there is no restriction of travelling with principal applicant, why there is an option to opt for follow to join.

Any one in the forum from the same situation would better explain the situation. Anyway, thank you very much.

  7. Hi All, one quick quest, my daughter sent all the forms required for processing ds-230, part 1 and part 2. She is currently in Uganda, the original case was filled in Islamabad, Pakistan. She mailed the police certificate from Karachi, Pakistan and Kampala, Uganda. However, she received a letter stating,

    "Police Records

Police records (also known as Character Certificates) are available at no cost from District Coordinating Offices, and take up to three months to obtain. There is no central police register in Pakistan, and applicants should therefore provide certificates from every jurisdiction in which they have lived for the requisite period of time. Police certificates are available by mail. Applicants currently outside Pakistan should contact the nearest Pakistani Embassy or Consulate for instructions."

Where does she get the character certificates from? Is it just a stamp from Pakistani consulate in Uganda validating Pakistani police certificate?

    Thanks for your help.

    Karim.

she needs to acquire police certificate (also known as charecter certificate) where ever she has stayed after reaching the age of 16. In pakistan if she has lived in the same district but different places she can acquire one certificate from respective police station. If she has lived more than 6 months in Uganda, she has to obtain police certificae from the concerned police office in Uganda.

  8. Myself and my two sons are derivative beneficiries of an FB3 category. We will be interviewed in US Embassy Islamabad on 2nd March 2010. God willing if we are approved and granted visa, do we all have to travel together along with principal applicant (my wife).

I have some issues need to be settled before I leave. Is this possible that after getting visa my wife and two children can proceed to USA and I can travel at a later date?
