  1. dear friends,

sorry for coming back late on the forum... as i was sick

I collected my visa packet on 24-10-2010

    my time line:

    24th march interview

children and wife got visa 12th apr 2010

received call from embassy on 22nd sep 2010 to send revised medical, ds230 and police report

    24-10-2010 received visa...

i have resigned from the company i am working but they need atleast 2 months more for me to stay as there are issued that needs to be settled before i leave..

i thank you all for your moral support during that crucial time...

i will keep coming in the forum from time to time.

  2. Dear Friends.

I was interviewed at US Embassy Islamabad March 2010. Since then I am in AP and yesterday I received a call from Embassy that I should send them new police certificate and DS230 form duly filled.

I wonder! should I sign the part II of DS230 where it says applicant should not sign and consular officer will assist them in completing this form. I have filled the form and just need to know whether I should send the form without signature on the part II or also sign it?

  3. Answer 1) You may or may not get visa on the spot after interview. Presently there are rare cases where visa was issued immediately after interview. Almost 99.99% goes into adminitrative processing which takes from a month to 2 years.

Answer 2) After you are issued the visa, the validity of the visa is 6 months and you need to enter into USA before expiry of the visa.

  4. My Dear Faisal Khan,

You may request for return of passport as you will need it when renewing the passport.

As for the medical and police certificates, they both are valid for 1 year. Police certificate states it is valid for 6 months but embassy accepts it valid for 1 year. This is my friend's exprience. As for the medical, you may wait for medical once you hear from embassy as medical is quite expensive and god forbid it is expired while waiting for another long. Affidavit of support would be needed afresh when you hear from embassy for visa issuance.

In my opinion, I have seen quite few cases whose admin processing exceeds over 15 months. May God help you in obtaining your visa soonest.

  5. I was also in US embassy Islamabd with my family including 4 and 2 years old kids. We did not take the stroller nor we saw any one carrying this. As even at the checkin gate they asked me to remove my belt which was causing alarm.

I suggest you dont take the stroller coz it will delay your entrance for interview. As for baby foods and milk, you will be allowed.

  6. So, did you send an email to the ombudsman? Give their system a chance to work. If you haven't done what they tell you to do, we can't give you better advice.

In fact such rulings are for AOS cases and not for consellor processing. I wonder if it will work if i send emails as my case is not AOS.

haha, oops, sorry I misread, I thought your family hadn't RECEIVED their visas yet and that you had.

Yeah, AP takes a really LOOOOOONG time in Pakistan. My husband's visa was going through Canada, but spent 7 months in Pakistan undergoing Administrative Processing. . . .they should have held your family's visas if they thought it was going to take such a long time so that their's did not expire before your's arrived!

What i understand from your lines is that they believe my visa would not take long and that is why they issued my family visa and will do for me too in due course of time?

  7. Is there anyone here on AP from the Dhaka embassy? I know we are few in number on this board, but it would be nice to post our AP dates.

    Thanks!

I am also in AP since 4 months, (FB3 category) and from what I believe from exchange of views in this forum, that Bangladesh and Pakistan AP time frame are almost the same. I pray your AP takes short time. be well stay well and god bless u.

  8. Just a guess but since you are the male from a T country I bet you are pending security checks.

Yes you may be right... but security checks should not take such a long time. I was interviewed on 24th March 2010.... One more thing according to 9 FAM 42.62 PN5 TL visa-584 10-14-2003: Under section 237 of public law 106-113 the immigrant visa for immediate family members and fiance must be processed with in 30 days and other family based immigrant visa must be processed within 60 days. But in my case this law has been violated.

Any senior member or expert please comment on this

  9. Dear VJ members,

I am quoting below the USIVC guidelines for derivative beneficiaries in case of AOS. Why can it not be the case for deravative beneficiaries e.g. FB3 category. In my case my wife and children got visa in 10 days after interview (US Emb Islamabad) and I am waiting for over 4 months now? Can some expert in the forum shed light on this issue?

    --------------------------------

    Derivative’s I-485 Pending By USIVC | Published: October 16, 2009

Department of Home Security updated its instruction on 10/08/2009 about pending adjustment of status of derivatives when the principal’s adjustment of status is approved. In theory, the derivative’s adjustments should be approved at the same time with the principal’s approval.

In the situation where the USCIS approved form I-485 (Adjustment of Status Application) for a principal applicant, but the derivative family members’ (spouse or minor children) form I-485 applications remain pending, there may be various reasons for the delay, such as missing evidence, security clearance difficulties, or,

maybe the derivative’s files are separated from the principal’s so that they don’t get approved at the same time.

If a family member’s derivative adjustment of status application has been pending in excess of 30 days from the approval date of the principal applicant’s Form I-485, the applicant can send email to cisombudsman.publicaffairs@dhs.gov with attachments of the follows:

    * DHS Form 7001;

    * A copy of the principal applicant’s Form I-485 approval notice;

    * A copy of the Form I-485 receipt notice for the derivative.

In the subject line of the email, the applicant can put "Unapproved Derivative I-485."

its a better for u to go islamabad embassy.

    thanks

Consulate in Karachi have started working but only for:

    1. student visa

    2. b1/b2 visa - principal applicant only.

  11. In the event of a baby born to two LPR parents in Karachi,is it still necessary to take the baby to the embassy in Islamabad or can they just go to the consulate in Karachi to do whatever is required?

    Thanks.

Consulate in Karachi is of no help as they do not deal in immigrant visa. You better email USEM Isb and they will surely reply you the procuedure.

  12. Dear friend,

marriage based cases take time, specifically if its Gori to Desi marriage. You need to keep all your records of phone calls to her, besides she should be able to visit yuo in Pakistan to show extreme interest to marry. All your family members should be aware of your relations, no false statement to investigator will make your case finish soon positively. Good luck
