  1. I never implied that you like the process but you treat it like is nothing to worry about it ,YET you see for yourself the pain and aggravation you have to go through in order to travel or just renew some of the documents you need

Again ,some of us prefer to get over with it ASAP and put an end to this nightmare called USCIS

I sent a letter to Nebraska in this morning and I promise to post the reply on Visa Journey "IF" the bother to reply back.

You are right, I am not worried. Just annoyed. And I think that I personally can't do anything other than wait for my turn. I simply don't care enough to drive myself (or others) crazy over it.

What kind of letter did you write, a case inquiry or something more than that? It will be interesting to see if they respond (I doubt it). Maybe you'll get an NOA  Just kidding

  2. Maybe Illinois77 is reading your comments and realize that indeed .....YES there are big issues with this BS I-751 processing time

Hey iansig, you don't need to treat me like I'm liking this process - I simply decided not to make myself get a heart attack over it. ;)

    Did you read this? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112817

Someone recently did get the year stamp. That is really ridiculous.

    Excellent, thank you!

  3. @danutuke, thank you for clarifying that! I was not able to speak from experience... yet. That will be next month for me.

@ Tammi, yes a two year extension letter would be a great idea! I also do not live 'right around the corner' from the Chicago office, and the $ 12 parking, time in traffic, missing work etc. is not anything I look forward to. It is an inconvenience!

I think I will also take the memo posted on www.uscis.gov next time I go and try for a longer extension in Chicago. I have two trips planned, one immediately in April and one in August. I would have to go back twice between the trips to be 60-day-extended two times through the August trip...

    Well, we'll see!

  4. Hey, maybe I'm in for a long wait but it's not like I expect my petition not to be processed... Again, and I've said this before. I'm not treating this as if it's such a desaster because it simply is none. When I had to wait 13 months to see my husband because I-130(K3) took so long at the time, THAT hurt. This? Just annoying, but not (yet) more annoying than getting my vehicle sticker renewed... I'm not "ok" with it but I can definately live with it. Less stressful to think that way ;)

    Good luck to you.

  5. Did anybody write any letter to Nebraska and ask for any information’s about processing time for I-751 and what's the story behind these transfers from NSC to CSC that started in June 2006 ?

I'm just about ready to send one .Maybe we should all start pounding them with a letter like that demanding an explanation

Let's please not, it will bog down the system even more... You can send an email or call, requesting status of your case. I think you already did that though. So did I, but I never heard back (it's been about 60 days and it said I would get a response in 45.... oh well.)

Have we seriously not had any approvals since Betrand?! Hmmmmm...

Well, I'm going to find out about Chicago's stamping system in about 1 month. I think it was me who started the myth about the 60 days in Chicago, because that's what I was told at my infopass appointment.

In fact, that's why I did not get a stamp then, since my extension was still valid for 90 days, which would have made a 60 day stamp useless.

@ PeterT, good thing you got yours, this seems to work in other parts of the country ;)

    I'll let you guys know.

  6. Whether they mean 2006 or 2007 really does not matter, does it, because obviously, neither would be accurate.

It would make more sense even for it to be 2006 as with the Feb 10th 2007 date, I was already outside the processing window with many others here. If it was July 2007 we would be 5 months outside the window, which would make even less sense. We know we have an approval from December 2006 (@Betrand), so maybe not all hope is lost

All this latest update shows us once again is, that these "processing time status" pages are just not accurate and should not be used as a guideline to anyone's case. These exact things happened with my I-130 petition over three years ago.

@debeselizz, yes, when the expiration date comes close (really close) schedule your infopass and get a stamp. When I was there a few weeks ago they said they'd only stamp for 60 days in Chicago and only if you have already arranged for an overseas trip - I was asked to bring my flight confirmation next time.

For all others, this memo was already posted before but I'll post it again; it can be found in the press release section of uscis.gov, in regards to our status which does not expire.

  7. We live in a society where nothing comes for free and every service that you get you supposed to pay for it but then again ...to see it that I have to beg for something that I paid then ,I'm sorry to say it but I think is quite bad .

This is my opinion and I will stop here as I see that some of you guys are quite OK with this ####### served by USCIS

After waiting over one year for something they claim it will take 8 months and then 10 months and then again 12 months I THINK IS PRETTY BAD

Since you quoted me, no, I am not ok with this but I'll save myself the stomach ulcer of getting SO upset over it. It's not worth it. So far, yes it is taking forever, but we have not yet had to pay more and we are not out of status. So really, nothing different than it was the first 2 years I was here with a "valid" conditional Greencard.

  8. That is good to know. I will surely do this. I called up my congressman's office. According to his immigration liason, they were told Chicago would not stamp the passport for such cases. She wants me to put off the Chicago appointment until they get a response. I let her know that some folks on my immigration message board have successfully received a stamp. I am now questioning how informed the Congressman's office is :innocent: I think I will take my chances with Chicago....

We are about 2.5 hrs away from Chicago. I'll wait until the very last day possible. It sucks having to go there on a weekday, specially in this extra cold weather. We get enough of that where we are already

On principle, it just bugs me. Jumping the line is just not cricket!

    Thanks for the wishes!

Just wanted to clarify that I did not yet receive a stamp. I went to Infopass about 90 days out from my expiration date and they informed me they only stamp for 60 days. I will have to come back right around the expiration date to get the stamp, which is in mid-April for me. ugh, 2.5 hours is a long drive. If you plan on travelling, bring your flight booking reservation with you to the appointment, even more reason to give you a stamp!

Also, read throug the "is the USCIS lying?" thread here in this forum, I think sandeep posted a memo that is actually posted on www.uscis.gov under press releases. It is about how with an expired extension letter the local uscis office should provide a 12 month stamp to the applicant. I am planning on taking that to Infopass next time.

  9. The appointment system for Infopass says if you are following up on a pending application, you should have a service request confirmation if coming for an interview. It does not make sense for those of us stuck at NSC.

Nobody asked for it when I went to Infopass. Go ahead and schedule without the service request, it will be fine!

I have an opportunity to do some freelance work, and cannot follow up because right now, I have less than a month of valid time on my extension. I wonder if USCIS can provide restitution for opportunities foregone because of their incompetence. I also need to travel in the next few months. Oh! But wait! We should get used to it, according to some VJ folks :angry:

if you can, wait until right before your exp. date and schedule the infopass. They will stamp you for at least 60 days in Chicago. Yes, it's a pain in the xxx but no, they cannot prevent you from travelling and you will not lose your status as cond.perm.resident. The stamp, the expired extension letter, and the expired Greencard will allow you to travel.

Take a deep breath :-) It stinks but it really does not interrupt anything we do in terms of work and travel. It's just some extra work we have to do in terms of travelling to the infopass office, managing our extension stamps etc. Yes, I wish they would do the legwork for me but that's not going to happen so we have to take it as it is, unfortunately.

    Good luck!

  10. My boss asks me at least once a week if I've received my GC and I've told him about the letter and showed it to him, but he is not familiar with it, and I know he too will be more comfortable knowing I have the actual card.

That's funny, my company does not even seem to care. Well, if you go through the "NCS processing times - is USCIS lying" thread, there is a memo posted from www.uscis.gov (I think posted by Sandeep?). Maybe it would help if you had your employer pull it up. It clearly states we are not out of status if we have that extension letter and a filed petition.

  11. @winterpassing, interesting...! I have no confidence in their "services".

I see you are also in Chicago. I was just at the Chicago office with an Infopass appointment, to inquire about my case (you and I have about the same timeline). The lady just read off the screen what I have been reading for one year now..." the petition was received on 2/2/07 and we will notify you once a decision has been made...". Well, that was NO news to me. She did not know anything further.

I was also told that Chicago only gives 60 days extension at a time. I will be travelling in April (I'll be gone on the day my ext.expires) and was asked to come back right before my trip so I could get the most out of my 60 days extension stamp. Then I'd have to return every 60 days for more, until the case is decided. Sounds great, doesn't it! B)

    Good luck with everything!

  12. This is not stupid but we will be helping the USCIS to Process two applications at one time.If we apply for citzenship then they dont need to process our I-751 separately.I'll apply for citizenship even if my I-751 is pending because It will speed up other people's I-751.

Um.. explain to me again, how will it speed up my I-751 if yours is just sitting ahead of mine, taking up a spot in line, and then you won't use it?!

Also, I think Zyggy posted this, a N400 is not more important than a I751, adding a second petition to the bunch will not speed things up, not one person's case is more important than the other.... and cases are curently not looked at in the order they were received, and that's what stinks.

  13. I had an infopass appointment, but they couldn't tell me much more information than was online. She did say that processing was around Jan 15th 2007 an not 9th or 10th as the website reported. Also she wouldn't stamp my passport without proof that I was travelling, so i need to go back with the plane ticket.

You're in the same black hole as the rest of us filing through Nebraska.

I don't think anyone has been authorised through Nebraska since 1933.

That is so bizarre, the lady I spoke to said the same thing, along the lines of "come back with your plane ticket and we will take it to our supervisor. Maybe they will approve a 60 day extension for you".

I mean, for one I don't have a choice in the matter, and two, she made it sound like it was MY fault that my application was not yet approved. She kept saying "maybe you have not submitted enough proof... "(ok then, where's the RFE!?) My case was not updated since the Biometrics a year ago. Bahh, I don't believe it. NSC did not work well the first time around, so why would it now... you are right, it IS the black hole.

I have this dream about calling down there and playing a song for them.... "Hello....... is there anybody in there.... just nod if you can hear me.... is there anyone home?" B)

  14. @ Sandeep and Peter, thank you so much! I can't believe you found a memo like that on the webside, that's awesome.

I'll certainly take that with me next time I go. I will go back and get some sort of stamp before my trip. I'll only be gone 1 week but the expiration date rolls around just in the middle of that week, so I won't risk it.

Sandeep, I went to the USCIS.gov website, there is an "infopass" button right on the homepage I think. I just went with a status request of my case, and selected the option of "45 days have passed since my inquiry with the service center". That was not true in my case (it had only been about 20 days since I filed the inquiry) but nobody asked about that when I was there. Be sure to print the appointment confirmation, it has a bar code on it. Many people in line with me did not bring that and the officers were quite annoyed because of that...

The process a pain in the xxx but at least I know now that this seems to be a pattern with NSC and not with me. My I130 petition also took forever when we first filed, so we are somewhat used to this.

@mew, guide your husband to this site, at least he'll know he's not an exception.

Thank you again for posting that memo and for your help!!!

  15. Another question to those of you whose expiration date is coming close... have you visited your local Infopass offices? Did you receive an extension longer than 60 days? What about work authorization, if you chose to let the date go by...? And travelling? Technically, would that not make us "illegal"?

I'm still so disappointed that there was absolutely NO help at the Infopass office today. All they did was read my case status off the screen - well, I have done just that for almost 1 year now.

    Thank you!

  16. and now we wait.... My husband did get an I155 stamp in his passport this past December, so he is authorized until Dec 2008. Hopefully we will hear something before then  Almost time for Naturalization!!

I am so glad I logged on to VJ today. I just returned from an Infopass appointment in Chicago, it was a complete waste of time.

My petition is also outside of the current processing date at NSC. Here's the kicker, I will be travelling outside of the US on the date that my GC extension expires. That's why I went to Infopass today. They could not help me - the lady said that in Chicago, they are only allowed to extend cond.GCs for 60 days. I am currently close to 90 days out. So, I'll have to go Downtown every 60 days for an extension. I find that so ridiculous.

@ace13, how did your husband obtain that stamp for 1 year? I would really like to know, thank you. Also adding myself to your list:

  17. Ok, I'm putting together the stuff NOW. UPS or FedEx? I don't think FedEx delivers to PO Boxs - does it? Don't trust USPS!!

You can! They have an express letter (I paid $ 18 I think) and it gets there by 10am the next morning. On the slip, check the "waive signature requirement" since it's a PO box.

I guess with "You can" I meant, you CAN trust the USPS postal service.... sorry. :innocent: They have an option to waive the sig requirement. You will still get a delivery confirmation (from the postal worker that delivers it rather than a signature from the adressee).

....all done, off to FedEx....hope i didn't miss anything!!

fedex gave me ####### about sending it to a PO box - i tried to convince them that my sources on VJ said it could be done if you waived the requirement of a signature. they looked at me funny.....

    haha.

oh well, ups or usps it is !! just will have to be tomorrow!

@Peachbythebeach, wether you waive the sig.requirement or not I believe the confirmation signature is from the postal worker, not anyone working at the Service Center - it's just a PO box. Anyway that's how my post office explained it to me.

You can track your shipment online and print out the shipping info once it arrived (you'll have to prove that you shipped your documents within the 90 days in case anyone ever asks..). Don't forget to make a copy of the whole thing for yourself, and don't forget the $$$ :star:

    Good luck!

  19. I noticed in the timeline of some of you that you have 2 seperate dates for "NOA Date" and "Receiving NOA". Can somebody tell me what the difference is? Thanks.

Sure, in my case, 2/02/07 is the date on top of the NOA letter, so it's the date that my petition was entered into their system. But I did not actually receive the letter until three weeks later.

So if I'm checking for receipt dates / processing times on uscis.gov I'm going to look for 2/02 as my date...

    Hope that makes sense!

  20. Actually, the I-751 specifically states that they are looking for evidence covering the entire period from the wedding date up to the present date.

Sorry, you are correct, what I had in mind were the sworn affidavits of people (quote) "who have known both of you since your conditional residency was granted...".

However, england4ever has been married for 3 years, so most likely their immigration process also started with the marriage. In that case any pictures / events from before the marriage may not be relevant for this application.

I would still include the son's birth certificate w/both your names on it, and then pictures of you as a family at the wedding or since the wedding. That should be enough proof for a 'real' marriage and long and ongoing relationship!
