  1. Well someone is obviously to blame..

There was nothing stated anywhere that said my name has to be present on the mail box in order to receive mail from USCIS, at no point in time have I been informed of this by either the USPS or USCIS!

    http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/services/fac...english.qxd.pdf

    Page 3.

Wow, woulda been real handy to have read that before we began our AOS. Anyway, it doesn't mention EAD cards, just permanent resident cards...so it's still very vague.

Oh well, doesn't matter now anyway. Our name is on our mailbox, and we're very frustrated that our EAD was returned. Wouldn't you be? My mediocre income just isn't cuttin it for us anymore, and we're extremely tired of living paycheck to paycheck. So if we want to be pissed off at the post office, we're damn well gonna be.

    Thanks for the link though.

  2. Kezzie and dr_lha, thank you both very much for your advice.

I'm gonna put our name on our mailbox tomorrow. I really can't afford another day off work to go to an infopass appointment, but if it needs to be done, we'll do it.

This really sucks, but then again, so has this whole process. I almost want to say "what else can go wrong?", but as Aidan and I are examples of Murphy's Law, that probably wouldn't be a good idea. :P

  3. All USCIS mail is sent by USPS and my Greencard was not delivered because my name was not on the mailbox......

No you dont have to sign for it.... no other way to fix this without phoning 0800 or making a infopass... sorry

    Kezzie

OK, I totally did not know we had to have our name on our mailbox! USCIS never mentions any of this in any of their documents! How were we to know? This is awful!

So ok, we'll go tomorrow and get sticky letters to put our name on the box. Do we need to just put our last name on it, or our first names as well?? Talk about invasion of privacy!

Kezzie, so if we put the name on our mailbox, and call the 1800 number...they will definitley resend the card? What did you mean by them making us wait 30 days?

Thanks so much for your help!

  4. Help us!! Ahhhhhh, just when we'd given up hope of receiving Aidan's EAD, our case status was updated today!

On July 26, 2006, the card or document we had mailed to the applicant was returned by the post office as undeliverable. To update your address, please call the National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283.

We're obviously gonna call them in the morning...but what can we do? OUR ADDRESS HASN'T CHANGED! Do they use a private courier? Were we supposed to sign for this? How on earth could this letter have been undeliverable?! Aidan needs his EAD right now because we're broke and he needs a job!

    What should we do? :(

    Thanks in advance, guys!

  5. Please get an INFOPASS as soon as possible. They were wonderful to me regarding Advance Parole. They are human even though sometimes I've wondered otherwise :D Go on line and request to talk to an Immigration Officer. I checked it out one day and had an appointment the next day (hubby and I drove 3 1/2 hours but worth every mile!).

Personally, your ex-fiance is the one who should be worried as a K1 VISA is only good for 90 days but you never know in this crazy mixed up world!! I don't understand how you calling off the wedding (for whatever reason) is anybody's business............a marriage contract is binding but the Letter of Intent is just stating that YOU are 'legally' able to marry.

    Good luck and God bless................{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}.....Joan

Hmmm...my letter of intent stated that I was legally able to marry, and that I intended to do so within 90 days of his arrival. And it was signed, of course.

Dunno...I mean, it's crazy to think she could be sued for that, but I'm sure it's possible. But it depends on the circumstances of the relationship. If he came to America and you were not in love with him anymore, marrying him would be fraud, wouldn't it? This situation is weird.

To the OP: I wish you the best of luck. (F)

  6. Just to give everyone an update...we just came back from the Baltimore field office and was told that since we have applied for the AOS and EAD, and have receipts, that it is OK to keep working with the expired temp EAD that my wife received at JFK.

This is a great thing, my wife will not have to quit her job and also in the future others will know that a temp EAD is a great thing to get if you can get it since it will allow K1's to work right away after getting here, even BEFORE a permanent EAD is issued and even if the temp EAD expires before the EAD is issued. The supervisor at the Field Office confirmed that my wife and her employer are not breaking any laws or rules by continuing working with an expired temp EAD, since the AOS and EAD have been filed for already.

This is the most logical conclusion anyway since it would be absolutely ridiculous to give out temp EAD's that will almost always end up expiring before the EAD is issued and having all these LEGAL immigrants having to stop working while they wait for their EAD.

You gotta be shittin me.

I mean, I'm not directing my anger towards you, in fact I'm very happy for your wife...but damn, if we woulda known this I would have paid the extra cash to get my husband through JFK so he could get one. We've been living on one income since November, and are still waiting for his EAD to be approved. Wow. If only we would have known... :(

  7. Wow - Thanks for the update. I just fied my I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, and I-864. Got NOA1 on all but the 864 and as I looked through my copies I noticed that I forgot to put the employment letter in there. I assumed that I was going to get a request for additional information but maybe they just didn't get to it yet.

Thanks again for the update!

As far as I'm aware, you don't get an NOA for the I-864, as it is included as part of your other applications (seemingly the I-765 and I-485). :)

Rebecca, thank you for that info!!

  8. Hi Guys! :)

We finally got our email confirmation that our RFE has been received and everything's back on track (hopefully, lol). We originally applied for Aidan's AOS and EAD, but not AP because we couldn't afford it at the time. We are planning a trip back to Ireland in December, and will need Aidan's AP. So, now that they have received our RFE and seem to have accepted it, will it be ok to apply for his AP? And does anyone know how to do this since it obviously won't be part of the original AOS and RFE package? We can do it online, right? Anyone have any experience?

    Thank so much! :luv:

    Anybody? :(

  9. Hi Guys! :)

  10. Yikes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but that letter is not simply saying she has no AOS pending, it's saying that her Adjustment of Status was denied, and therefore no longer pending. I think you need to make an infopass appointment immediately and find out who screwed up and what you can do to get things back on track. Maybe your interview letter was returned because you moved to Florida?

At any rate, I hope you get things worked out quickly. Good luck!! (F)

  11. Hi, jelti.

look at my time line... They did response almost 2weeks later (11days later).

I check someone's time lines whose got RFE and they showed much earlier than this. I guess they response slower than before (in my opinion).

I was really worry during waiting, too...It was really stressful...

I was happy about you got co-sponser!!

    Good luck!!

    Popocat

Thanks, Popocat, I feel much better now! I was under the impression that they respond immediately; I'm relieved to see that sometimes it just takes a while.

Thank you, and good luck to you, too! :luv:

  12. Hey Everyone,

As you can see from my signature, Aidan and I received an RFE for proof that I make 125% above the poverty line. I do, and they already had that proof, but they're fart-heads and wanted more. So after much begging and pleading, my mom actually decided to cosponsor Aidan! We sent the RFE back priority mail on June 23rd and saw the confirmation via the internet that the package was indeed delivered on the 26th.

I've been checking the uscis.gov website every day since then, and the status is still the same. Nothing. Not a touch, not a "We received your RFE blah blah blah", nothing. :(

Normally I'm the one giving advice about how sometimes they don't touch your case yadda yadda yadda, but this time I'm starting to get worried because it seems as if the "We received your RFE blah blah blah" response is quite common immediately upon the USCIS receiving the RFE.

So what's the deal? Anyone else going through the same situation?

    Thanks so much. :luv:

  13. Not wishing to scare you, but my sister-in-laws husband had real troubles with Ambien. He would sleep-walk with it, and once ate a whole pound of cheese in his sleep, with no memory of it at all. I've also heard of people cooking a whole meal, and eating it, in their sleep when on ambien. But if you only have a short course of it then you'll probably be okay, is my guess.

But I would strongly suggest you look into other people's suggestions here as to long term methods of helping you sleep.

    This is 100% true.

Melissa, be very careful with Ambien. My mother got addicted to it when I moved to Scotland. :( I still sometimes feel like it was my fault. She would sleep-walk, have hour long conversations with me where nothing she said made sense, and she never remembered it in the morning. When she finally did get to sleep (real sleep, not talk, eat, awake-sleep), she was literally knocked out. I mean, one time there was a raccoon eating out of our trash outside and I thought someone was breaking into the house. I screamed at her and shook her for like 20 mins before giving up. She simply couldn't wake up. It was awful.

She stopped taking them about 2 months ago, and while she has a little trouble sleeping here and there, it's much better than what she was like while taking the pills.

  14. Hi guys- just wanted to let you know that we were approved for the green card today :) It was no problem- in and out in 15 minutes (maybe less!). I've posted our whole experience in the AOS forum if you're interested. Most of all we're just relieved and glad to be done with all of this nonsense for a couple years.

    Yay! Congratulations! :luv:

  15. Hi All,

We got a RFE for Financial support and sent it back on 6/9, they signed off on 6/11. From what I read on some post, some VJ our getting touch, email reply within seems like 1 week. So far I have no Touch, nothing. All I have is proof that our RFE was delivered and sign off on 6/12.

Any suggestion on what I should do or comments would great appreciated!

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

What was your RFE for, and what did you send back to them? Have you already had your biometrics done, and did you apply for your EAD and AP?

As far as I'm aware, not everyone gets "touched" after they send back their RFE. I wouldn't fret too much, yet. :luv:
