  1. envy_me....real sorry that it's screwed up. If you don't mind I'm taking the liberty of putting all this information into a spreadsheet, and then I'm gonna share it on Google Docs. The work you did on this is way too much for it to be lost.

it's ok.. it's fixed now.. thanks anyway..

    someone already offered that before..

but what i hate abt that spreadsheet is it's too big and wide..

and u have to click it and go to another page..

i made this table like this no more clicky and all..

same page and easier to see the updates..

    thanks again.. ;)

    .

That's no problem. Happy and glad to see you got it working again!! Thanks for all your time and effort that you're putting into this. It really does help us to out to see the 'big picture', as it were...

  2. man, that's frustrating :(

well, I guess your only options are to stock up when you visit 'civilisation', and/or make some internet orders... not as fun as browsing and discovering things though :(

talking of Indian food, I've introduced my husband to pappadams, and he LOVES them... also all manner of curries, and laksa (which is Thai, but y'know ;) ), and raita, and daal... it's great fun :)

I'm so used to Indian and Turkish foods being almost the default 'ethnic' food, from living in London, so not being able to find good Turkish bread, and halloumi, and proper tzatziki, and so on, is very frustrating

the pay-off is in the great Mexican food, of course ;)

Yes, but I'm not totally screwed. My local HEB does have some of "Taste of India/Taste of Thailand" frozen meals that Central Market make. And they're not too bad. I steer clear of Thai food (too hot for me!). But I regularly buy the Korma and Madras boxes. And on the odd occasion I make my own curry with some Sharwoods curry powder I've got in the kitchen cabinet. I also bought some frozen Naan bread at HEB once as well. It was ok. But of course they no longer carry it!

As for Mexican food, I really can't stand it. The only thing I'll touch is Fajitas, but they've now become a staple of the American diet, you can't really call it Mexican anymore (depending on how it's made anyway) and Tacos as well. But that's it.

  3. Thanks. No I didn't file for AP. I was advised not to, since I've been out of status for so long. I don't think it will be long before my AOS is hopefully approved anyway. But I can still apply for AP whilst AOS is still be processed without incurring any more filing fees. Right now, I'm more concerned with getting back to work at this point!

    i figured it out..

if u look at the table before your post, i already put there N/A for your AP.. ;)

It wasn't until I'd already sent the post that I realized why you'd asked!!

  4. Yay!!!

Just got an email from CRIS that on December 9th, my EAD production of my EAD card was ordered. I assume this means that I have been approved!!

Haven't had any approval notice, but finally I will be able to go back to work before Christmas (after 8 long years!!). I'm glad because I applied for a couple of jobs just yesterday.

I hope everyone else that's been waiting gets some good news real soon!!!

    Gaz.

Congrats! sad to say I am one of those unlucky one to get an RFE....

Congrats to all who got approved both EAD and AOS interview!

    Vida Taylor

I hope you get that sorted out real soon!

    congrats!

just one question.. did u apply for AP??

  7. On the back of the check that got cashed in my situation was MSCxxxxxxxxx0. I thought this was the number, but the CRIS system rejected it. Wasn't until I got the receipts back found out that the last number is different. The original number ending in a 0, I think it the general case number.

Not sure if this is the same for everybody, but my AOS application ended in a 1 and 6 and the EAD ended with a 4. I didn't file for AP, so not sure which number this would be, so I assume that 1 = AOS, EAD=4.

  8. Thanks for the replies Nich-nick/stilltheprettiest...Unfortunately I'm a 3-4hr drive from San Antonio. I live in the relatively small town of San Angelo in West Texas, so the only time I could get to visit these stores is if I'm in the area, which I will definitely do next I need to go down there. I was in Lubbock a few weeks back, but didn't have time for any sightseeing!!!

And we don't have any independent Indian/Asian food markets either. This town is quite a bit set in it's ways as far as food is concerned. I've often thought that an Indian restaurant might go down well here, but they don't really like trying new things here!

  9. I guess I'm living in the wrong place in Texas. My local HEB only carries Tetley British Blend and Twinings (but every1 and their dog carries Twinings). I think Albertson's here carries PG Tips (in the pyramind bags no less!!), but I've been drinking Tetley for so long, I don't like the taste of PG anymore!

I just wish I could go into a store and be able to pick up stuff like salad cream, brown sauce, curry sauces, cadbury sweets, without having to order it online!

I think we need to move!!!!

  10. did anyone here have a vast quantity of cds/dvds/books that they shipped?

Actually I need a major quantity to be shipped. I have a record collection of about 1500 items; 325 of which are cassettes 260 in vinyl and the rest are CDs/CD singles.

I checked with Seven Seas Worldwide a few years back since they are pretty near the current location of my collection, and they suggested their book boxes, but I would probably need the tea chest.

Anyone use this company before for shipping their collection? And if so, how many CDs could you get in the book boxes/tea chest.

    Thanks in advance.

"Someone who's been missing his collection for far too long!!!"

Too bad it hadn't been my AP

Congrats!!! I sent my AOS in on the same day you did, so maybe my EAD approval is coming soonish!!!

  12. I wanted to ask a silly question since I'm getting a tad nervous about at least the EAD/AP situation, what with the economy and all! When I did my biometrics the case was I suppose 'touched' in the sense that it was updated on the website. But the website actual text for the case just says that they received the application in Sept. Not sure if this is normal procedure or if my application is lost in space somewhere :(

This is normal. Unfortunately, now you just have to wait like the rest of us!!

  13. Hello,

I would call today. I called yesterday and unlike USCIS it was easy to get information. I did not need my husband on the phone with me. They asked for name, and A#. We had biometrics on September 25th and the representative informed us that my husbands fingerprints were returned to USCIS THE NEXT DAY! Hope this helps.

    Erika

Thanks...I just called and they told me that the fingerprints results were returned to USCIS the same day!!!!

Yay....now just got to get them hurry with the name and background check!

  14. I found this whilst browsing the USCIS site:

If your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, has been pending longer than 75 days since you filed and you have not received a request for evidence or missed a scheduled appointment, call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. Please Note: The time between the mailing of a request for evidence and receipt of your response by USCIS does not count towards the 75 days. A missed appointment restarts this 75-day period.

    http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0000ecd190aRCRD

I thought that it was 90 days for the turnaround?? If I do not hear anything before December 10th, then I'm going to be calling them!

  15. Grrrr. 2nd and final attempt at good fingerprints -- fail. She said they'll likely be rejected again, can't get good prints. Said after the 2nd rejection they'll probably send a letter asking for a police report instead.

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Did they specify why they couldn't process them? Did the ASC you went to use ink or scanner to get your fingerprints? I ask because I got a cat scratch on one of my index fingers last week and the skin hasn't grown back entirely, so the scan of that finger has a small gap. I wonder if this is enough for the FBI to be unable to process mine? The fact that there is a break in some of lines on that particular finger.

  16. Not long been back from my biometrics appointment. It was fairly painless. We arrived 30 minutes early and I was in the office for all of about 7 mins! Some girl was in front of me, so I didn't have to wait long.

It is a fairly small office in Lubbock, Texas. No metal detector machine or anything like that. Handed my letter and passport over to the security guard and then was sat down where I was asked questions like DOB, height, weight etc, and the lady behind the desk filled the answers in on a form.

Then it was my turn for fingerprints and photos. They were scanned them in, then a couple of photos and I was done!

It's great that I've finally got it done, but miffed that we had a 370 mile round trip for a 7 minute appointment!!

Unfortunately, my cases haven't been touched or updated online, but hopefully they will be tomorrow!
