Ditto. It's been over 6 months so I'm planning on calling sometime soon... it's not that I'm "worried" per se.. it's more I worry that my *lovely* in-laws received my notices by accident (seeing my reminder was sent there) and failed to forward them on... or something else... there was a mail mess up not long ago... anyway. Doesn't hurt to check!

I'm also planning on calling if I don't hear anything by next month. I was a bit worried about my fingerprints cause I had a pretty big cut on a finger when I took them. Wasn't scheduled for a second biometrics appointment, so I *assume* they went through, but you never know...

Yes - you are still a lawful permanent resident. For ID, it will probably be easier just to use a driver's license and social security card.

As for ID, I don't think I can go with that combo because my SSN card still has the note about not being valid for employment without DHS authorization on the front. I guess I should have asked for an updated SSN card after getting my GC, but it's a bit too late for that now

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but I was wondering...

When filling out an I-9 during removal of conditions and after my 2-year GC has already expired, do I still check "Lawful Permanent Resident" as my status?

I am also a bit concerned that the extension letter is not listed under the list of acceptable documents (I assume since it just extends the GC duration, it just counts as having a non-expired GC). While I know it IS valid for an I-9, I am not too sure that my employer knows as well! So I hope they don't give me problems

this is a fallacy imo, maybe for the petitioner but not beneficiary. i'm confident most beneficiaries don't "fall in love" in the traditional sense. i mean how could you? you talk to this person once a day, at most 2-3 hours? you see them in person 20-25 days in a good year? sometimes you talk to them for a few months, see them once...and get married. it's not a normal courtship, so kinda hard to fall in love. i see it more as an arranged marriage, and at best the couple will learn to love each other through the years.

there are exceptions, but most viet beneficiaries agree to this deal because they want a better opportunity elsewhere than the one they're currently in. you don't voluntarily agree to leave your home, your family, your friends, your life, the familiar surroundings to go to a strange land with a man you barely know. and i'm not even talking about the good ole USA. hundreds of women are being picked for marriage everyday to china, korea, japan in HCM.

This is not what fiance/marriage visas are for though. If you went to your consulate interview and said you barely know your husband, but you're marrying him because you want a better opportunity elsewhere, would they approve you?

I understand the desire to have a better life, but it's also depressing when couples that are actually in love have a hard time getting approved because of all the people who marry US citizens just to get in the USA.

Also, it might sound weird to you but a lot of people DO "fall in love" even though they don't live in the same country. Not all long distance relationships are fake or arranged.

I was wondering if anyone has had experiences of biometrics while having cuts/scabs on a finger? My appointment is on the 13th, and this weekend one of my cats gave me a pretty bad scratch on a fingertip (such great timing ). I don't think it's going to heal by next week since it's pretty deep :/

When I did biometrics during AOS I remember the appointment letter had a note saying they would not accept fingerprints from people with open wounds on their fingers, however on the appointment letter I got for ROC there is nothing on the subject. Does anyone know if it's still a problem?

Thank you Hope you get your letter soon! Mine was dated two days after my request, not sure if it was a coincidence or if the request actually sped it up.

On the biometrics letter ASC puts a stamp, stating that they have processed your biometrics on the date you walked in. It is automatically sent to the USCIS and as soon as they receive clearance from FBI, they continue to review/send RFE/interview/approve/deny.

The stamp with a new date overrides the original appointment date and speeds up the process (not by much, but 2-3 weeks for some people is important).

I was under the impression that they review your application independently from what's going on with biometrics and background checks. IIRC there is someone in this forum that ended up with their application approved, but no GC yet cause their biometrics are pending.

I also had a somewhat similar issue happen to me doing AOS, according to the IO at my local USCIS office my EAD had been approved but I did not receive the card because they forgot to schedule biometrics (and I did get the card right after I had my appointment).

I called USCIS this morning and was told the same thing. They said they would file a request for my biometrics appointment and I should call back if I don't receive it within the next 15 days. I will be out of town the second week of June, and I'm just worried that my appointment will be scheduled during that time. Hopefully we both get the letter this time! Thanks!

Today I got an email from CSC stating that they requested biometrics scheduling and I will be mailed an appointment letter when my local office has appointments available. Not sure how long THAT is going to take, but I really just wanted to confirm that my letter hadn't been lost, so I don't mind waiting for the appointment now

So I called USCIS about my biometrics letter, and the person I talked to said she could not verify whether my appointment had been sent or not, but since over 30 days had passed they would file a request to send a new appointment letter which I should receive within 15 days. Being tier 1 she said she couldn't check the actual status of my biometrics, so I asked if I could be transferred to someone who can, but she replied there was no need because in either case they will just send me a letter now

But at least I have a service request number now, and they said to call back in 15 days if I don't get another letter... I was expecting them to say to wait 60 days before calling again

It's been a month since the NOA and I haven't received a letter for biometric appt.

Has anyone else experienced delay in receiving the biometric letter? I'm starting to get worried..

Several of us who filed with CSC have had this issue with biometrics. My NOA1 was dated 4/9 and I still haven't gotten mine, and some filers that had a earlier NOA1 date than mine just received theirs. It looks like they are being slow with some of the appointment letters for some reason, but you can try calling USCIS to ask for information if you want to be safe. Seems that if you're over 30 days from your NOA1 they will do something about it even if you're not lucky enough to get to talk to a tier 2

So was I honestly. Have you called to check on it? All they could tell me (the tier 2 that is) was that I was in the biometrics "line" awaiting scheduling so I knew at least my case wasn't lost and I hadn't had my mail lost.

I tried calling before but didn't get to talk to a tier 2 since they said I was still within normal waiting times. I might have believed them if I didn't know that many people that filed at the same time had already got their appointment

I'll try calling again next Monday and make sure I get to ask a tier 2. Back when I did AOS I actually got my EAD super-late because somehow my biometrics appointment was never scheduled (I got it scheduled after 4 months from filing when I inquired about it during an infopass appointment), so the experience made me particularly paranoid about biometrics

FINALLY received my biometrics letter. Postmarked 8th May and I received it today, 11th May for a June 4th, 8am interview... It's 3 hours away so no I'm not gunna bother with a walk-in this time. Des Moines office sucks for delay!

I am starting to get a bit worried about my bio letter too It doesn't help that back during AOS something went wrong with my biometrics appointment and it was never scheduled, so it got to the point that my EAD was approved but it was pending due to not having had biometrics yet D:

Honestly from the examples you made he doesn't sound a shy guy that can't show his feelings. He seems he's just not interested in you, and the fact that he barely pursues any intimate relationship with you is a pretty clear sign of lack of interest as well if you ask me.

About mental/emotional abuse - I've been in a relationship where I was emotionally abused and I really did not realize I was being abused until I got out of it. And getting out of it was really difficult too, because I kept thinking that maybe I was being too negative and maybe he did care for me after all. If he had any small stupid gesture towards me I thought it must mean he cares, even though it wasn't even remotely close to what everyone does in a normal relationship.

It was incredible how well it felt once I gathered to strength to cut any ties with him - and we weren't even married!

Really - what matters is YOUR happiness and it doesn't sound like you will ever be happy in this situation. I can understand why some posters suggest you try a bit longer, but in your case honestly time is a luxury you don't have: if he comes over and gets his green card you and your parents will be responsible for him for a really long time and he might as well completely ruin your life for what you know. And you have been married for close to two years and he had PLENTY of time to show his love. If he didn't until now he is not going to magically start all of a sudden.

In my opinion there is really no time left to still have doubts after being married for all this time, I would just divorce and cancel the affidavit of support if I were in your shoes. You're still young, need to start enjoying life again

I would think since you got the NOA1 today, if they are on the same schedule as me they won't send you an appointment notice for another week. And the appointment needs to be at least two weeks out to give you time...so I would say your TOEFL is safe and you should be going for biometrics the first week of May or so

Hope so! Around the first week of May would work. Then again, any date is fine as long as I get the appointment, haha

Just FYI, you can also go earlier to Bio as long as you have the app. letter.

Thank you for the suggestion! But from time to time some people get sent back home when trying to do early biometrics, no? I don't know if I want to risk taking a day off work for nothing so I might just wait and hope I get lucky with the appointment

Got NOA1 in the mail today!

Seems 4/27 is a popular date for biometrics so far . Hope I don't get the same date cause I booked the TOEFL test for that day and I'm not sure if they would let me reschedule/give me a refund

Just a curiosty, but seems no one we know has had a home visit, has any one here had one or know someone that did? I think they must be very rare.

I had a home visit during AOS. Just the idea of having had one worried me A LOT so we hired a lawyer afterwards, but turns out we didn't really need to do so because our AOS interview was really easy. Guess the agents who did the home visit saw that everything was in order

Sorry to hear you are going through this. Thought I would give some feedback re: home visits.

I had problems during my AOS and had no idea why (long story, but to keep it short found out later that someone sent USCIS a complaint about us).

Before I even had an interview appointment I received a home visit at 6AM. I wasn't prepared for something like that AT ALL and let them in without even thinking I had the possibility of not doing so; I was alone too because my husband had already left for work. Anyway, despite not finding my husband, they must have thought everything was in order because when we finally got our interview it was very easy and short. This is just to say that letting USCIS people in doesn't necessarily always mean giving them a reason to deny you if you're in a genuine marriage

That said, still hope it doesn't get to that in your case and that things get better soon for you guys.

I don't believe USCIS has issues with not adopting the husband's last name (I didn't either, because it's not done in my country and I don't want to have documents in different names), but in your case since you DID change it, maybe there is the risk that going through the whole process to change it back (if you're actually able to do so) might be seen as suspicious when you go through ROC?
