  1. OK - I think 3 to 4 months on turn-around time.

You'll be sent a 'call in letter' via postal mail.

Then bring that letter to GUZ IV with your passport, and then 1 to 2 weeks later you'll receive the passport back, with the visa in it, plus a huge sealed envelope.

Call In Letters are similar to appointment letters, in that the Guard lets you inside the Consulate - but usually, is not any 'set appointment' - is just certain days of the week, certain times, that you can come in.

Good Luck ! I suggest calling DOS Hotline once a week, and emailing GUZ IV unit every two weeks, inquiring for status.

WHO KNOWS? A miracle might occur, all gets done by Friday.... I like to be optimistic, but that 3 to 4 month window seems to be 'the norm'.

Thank you Darnell, do you think my visa will get approved?

  2. Was this for congenital heart disease --> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/244039-medical-exam-issue-pls-help/page__p__3829796entry3829796 ???? IF SO, I have NO IDEA - it's up to the VO to grant a medical waiver - but IMO, a waiver will be granted, will be special coding in the VISA STAMP.

    Some q's for you:

    1. Did they keep yer passport , or not ?

    2. Exactly what did GUZ IV ask for, in the blue slip ? Give me exact verbiage, exact wording, on the things that were:

    --ticked in a box and

    --handwritten in

    3. were you given any call-in letter, or not ?

FWIW - you weren't 'denied', at all. Visa not granted that day, and that's still OK. You had opportunity to submit that evidence, and you submitted it - so they still have to :

--work it through the queue of those waiting for 'further review', prior to your case

    --evaluate the evidence

    --make new decision

Most blue slips at GUZ IV, take 3 to 4 months, from submittal to 'call-in letter' issued. If they kept yer passport, then you won't have a call-in letter - instead you will ONLY KNOW when it was mailed out, by checking with the DOS Hotline Human (# in my profile).

OK - waiting on you - yer turn.

My apologies for not catching this earlier -

Remember - I BEGGED YOU to 'home yer account to China' a few months ago - and ya dinna do it. I would have 'caught this' earlier in the day, had you 'homed yer account to China'. BadBadBadChinaGirl - do I ask for 300 venison jiaozi now ?

PS - was this an IR-5 for a parent? or something else ? CR-1/IR-1 etc etc...

    Thank you so much, guys.

My case is F-3, (1) they didn't keep my passport,(2) there is no ticked on any box on the blue slip, but was written as "please provide the statement how the petitioner plan to pay for the care and the treatment" (3) I sumitted the evidence on 4/22/10. I called the DOS today and have been told the case is ongoing and under review processing.

  3. If it's undergoing review, it's not denied. Not yet. You're in AP (Administrative Processing/Administrative Review).

What were the questions asked? How did you respond to them? What do you mean, "you failed the interview?"

Were you issued a 221g? Any other information/documentation requested from you?

I mean my visa is refused and they requested additional information from me, I've submitted all the information on the blue refusal sheet, and now the status of the case is pending, so I would like to know about when they will make the dicision.

  4. Hi Darnell,

I need your help, I failed the visa interview at GUZ consulate on 4/1/10 and I've sumitted all the papers they need at the end of April, I called the DOS today and the person told me that the case is ongoing, under processing of review, still pending, In your opinion, when they will make the dicision?

    Thank you.

  5. yes, people w/heart conditions can migrate to US, provided it does not cause them extreme problems that will affect their daily normal lives.

but one has to pass your medical first, that's half of the requirement to get approveds for a visa

so, if you haven't gone for your medical yet, what they're watching out for aside from highly comunicable diseases are those that are extremely debilitating too, which your's isn't,

    so you're ok.

Thank you guys, I am done with the medical exam today, and they already found that I have the congenitial heart disease, I want to know can people come to the us with this kind of heart diease.

  6. I think it means 'casefile opened' at GUZ.

Scheduling is never 'automatic' at GUZ - they only set schedules 3 or 4 times, each month, to cover the next month's calendar.

So, being in a queue to be 'set', is good. I'm guessing 1 to 2 weeks more, before the next 'setting' of interviews.

    Good Luck !

Thank you Darnell, I heard GUZ sets interview dates for the F type visas once a month, usually after the visa bulletin is post, so I am hoping I will get the interview date between this week and next week.

  7. Keep calling each day. Take note of the status. Get:

    1. current status with the date/time stamp and

    2. prior 3 status things, with date/time stamp.

    Usually - is

Casefile opened (which I think you have now) and then

    P4 sent

    and then

    Interview Date Set.

The IV Unit at the Consulate in GUZ sets appointments 3 or 4 times each month, in a 'batch cycle'. Usually, the P4 package set is sent out , or bundled to be sent out, either ON the same day, or just prior, of the interview date being 'set'.

    Good Luck !

Thank you again, I've called the DOS today and have been told the same thing as yesterday, the lady said the consulate has the case file and the next step is to open and review, the interview date will be set after that. Do you mean the P4 sent before the interview date set? Does the consulate set appointment 3 or 4 times each month for the family based visas? I know they most likely do it every day for the K visas, just wasn't sure for F type visas.

Will I possible get the appointment date set sometime next week?

    Thank you.

  8. Keep calling each day. Take note of the status. Get:

Thank you again, just got off the phone with DOS, (20 mins wait before got a human), the lady said the samething as yesterday, she said the consulate has the case file and the next step is to open and review, the interview date will be set after that.

You mean the p4 sent before the interview date set? I thought they set an interview date before sending the p4 out.

So the consulate in GUZ send the p4 out for the family based visas 3 or 4 times a month? Do you think I will get an interview date set sometime next week?

    Thanks.

  9. IMO, sometime in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

BUT - why not call the DOS Hotline, get a HUMAN and inquire for Case Status?

I strongly suggest you do this, every day, until you hear:

    1. Appointment date set and

    2. P4 sent

are you calling DOS, at all? If Not, WHY NOT ?

    Thank you Darnell,

I just called the DOS today and the lady said...the case file is in the consulate, when the number is available then the interview date will be set, OMG, how long I have to wait? How long it take to set up an interview after they received the case file? My case is F-3.

  10. i just called China to inquire my case and was told guangzhou hasn't received my case yet...

My case was sent out by NVC at the end of of September and it has been almost 3 months. The rep there told me it is common to wait this long but I am a little worried and impatient. Can anybody with experience or knowledge tell me if it is normal or not?

My case is IR5 (parents of US citizen).

    Thanks!! :(

Did you hear anything from GUZ yet? Our case sent to GUZ at the end of Sep/2009 too.

    Thanks.
