  1. Yes, there are guidelines, they are documented on page 9 of the I-864.

If you are sponsoring your spouse only and are using assets only, those assets, which can include cash, would be 3 times 125% of the poverty guidelines. So for two people, sponsor and spouse, you would need to show 3 x $18,212.00 or $54,636.00 USD.

To use cash assets, in the bank, you must provide them with:

Bank statements covering the last 12 months, or a statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which the sponsor has deposits, including deposit/withdrawal history for the last 12 months, and current balance; link

So you mean the bank letter wont be enough for them? Cuz we just sent them a letter notarized by the bank manager's assistance. Its just saying on my famous green light paper which is for the missing docs " more need funds on a bank 15k" so I gave them what exactly they expecting to see right?

  2. Can the money in the bank account come from anywhere, or do you need to be able to show that it came from employment? Like, is it purely a numbers game and if the number is high enough then you're in? If it's money from student loans and/or grants, is that acceptable?

MJ Woods, I dont know anything.Co just asked me to more funds on bank and I asked does it matter put this money long time ago or in a short time. She said " just deposit acc" thats all.She did not even look at my husband's letter of employement and pay stubs, It was last than 2 mins, she said everything fine. Except this. I dont know sounds like they are playing a game with us " approved you" after that " aaa sorry Actualy we were denied you" ... bla bla . I dont know anything. My husband gets angry cuz of the way of my thinking for this issue. But It could be just a trick for them to keep people away from their window. Ohoho you got approved but! you are missing something. If they are gonna say sorry " Icant" ..everybody will be angry at them and for sure will be some kind a fighting. I just hate that my future life with my husband hangs on sb' lips. I m just waiting right now for see what will happen. Hope everything will be fine for everybody. I do love my husband and whatever they do I will be with him in Usa or in Turkey! So

  3. I am sure that , once they receive your letter, everything will be fine and they will mail your wife her visa.Let us know how is going on, and good luck to both of you!!

Ty so much Raluca, hope everything will go fine with you.I am so excited.

I hope we get good news soon honey!!! :star:

Thank you Raluca, hope they will mail her the visa soon!

Si baby! I pray for us (L)

  4. And Raluka, I dont have that much info about co-sponsor.. I was searching and fount out this. And ty for response for my issue.

    ---- Copy- Pasted----

If the petitioning sponsor does not meet the income requirements, a joint sponsor who can meet the requirements may submit a Form I-864 to sponsor all or some of the family members of the intending immigrant. The original sponsor still needs to fill Form I-864.

In other words, the joint sponsor is someone who is willing to accept legal responsibility for supporting your family member(s) with you.

A joint sponsor must be a person and may not be a corporation, organization, or other entity.

If a petitioner or sponsor meets the minimum income requirements, there can not be a joint sponsor, unless the consular officer or the DHS immigration officer specifically requires it.

Just like the sponsor, the joint sponsor must be:

    • A citizen or national of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence;
    • At least 18 years of age; and
    • Domiciled in the United States or its territories and possessions.

However, the joint sponsor does not have to be related to the petitioning sponsor or the intending immigrant.

If the first joint sponsor completes Form I-864 only for a few of the family members of the intending immigrant, a second qualifying joint sponsor can sponsor the remaining family members. There can be a maximum of two joint sponsors. Each joint sponsor is responsible only for the intending intending immigrant(s) listed on his/her Form I-864.

Each joint sponsor must individually meet the income requirements, according to Federal poverty guidelines, for his/her household size, without combining resources with the petitioning sponsor or a second joint sponsor.

Any dependents applying for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status more than six months after immigration of the intending immigrants must be sponsored by the petitioning sponsor, but may be sponsored by an original joint sponsor or a different joint sponsor.

Even if one or more joint sponsors submit their own I-864, the petitioning sponsor remains legally accountable for the financial support of the sponsored alien(s) along with the joint sponsor(s).

A joint sponsor must use the Form I-864. He/she can not use Form I-864 EZ.

  8. Ok, hubby received an email today, stating :

    'Dear Mr. B.

Thank you for sending us the most recent pay stub.

It appears from it that your annual income is sufficient to sponsor your wife. The consular officer will review the documents at the time of the interview.'

I have to mention to you that, my husband not only did he sent them an email asking about what they told me over the phone, also he attached in that email all the affidavit of support documents. So what do you think i should do? Should i just disregard what she said that day, or have a joint sponsor paper ready for the interview, just in case ?

    Hello Raluca,

I would get a letter or statement from the bank stating 15 K or how much embassy was told on the phone .If its easier for you then get a joint sponsor. Just be ready for anything. So you could summit right away whatever they want. And you will not have to wait.

    Good luck cute!

  9. Ok, i am somewhat in a similar situation.Yesterday i called the us embassy in Romania to find out if my casefile arrived here from NVC. The lady on the phone said ''yes, we have just received it yesterday'', then i asked her what can she tell me about it, if it's complete and if there is anything else i need to send them. She looked in hurry over the papers , and she told me ''there is a problem with your affidavit of support'' i see only 14k made in 2009 by your husband.Talk to him and either send us in a bank statement with 15k in it or get a joint sponsor. I was like !!!!???? so i talked to my hubby, long story in short version is that in 2009 he was in Romania, he then left to US and got a job in April 2009,so thats why the 14k only. But he also sent in a copy of his work contract, his income since January 2010 that clearly shows that he makes much more in one year than the minimum they require. He emailed them explanation, and hoping he will get an answer soon.So you think this is just a misunderstanding, isn't it enough that they see what he makes in one year total and is more than enough? Why would NVC accept all our docs and sent us no rfe's at all if there were issues like this; lucky me that i called embassy here and she was nice enough to explain all this things BEFORE my interview which will be on the 15th of July...

Raluca805, I wish was read something being short about 2009's income before my interview. As you did now. Well I have been keep reading everything about this issue and at my status I think its better to get a bank letter stating 15 K on his account. In my opinion its pointless to send a statement to embassy. They dont have to see everything.

    And I found this paragraph.I am keep saying to myself If I knew it I would bring the letter from the bank for my interview. And I could hold my passport with visa.Well paragraph is as below;

"The letter from the bank is optional, if your income is large enough to satisfy the 125% poverty line rule If your income is then you only need to submit copy of Tax return, W2, and letter from employer.

You only need to provide bank letter, or assets when your income is less than 125% poverty line to make up the difference between income and poverty line"

    But still need advice.

  10. Congratulations to all of the great news!

Rani and Raja, just one slight hiccup which can be taken care of easily. No worries.

Ladies... be sure to let us known when you get your GC/SSC in the mail. Or whatever you have to do to get them. 'Cause we sure as heck don't have any experience with this.

Dear TheBears, thank you so much for message.I can just say hopefully will be as you and others said. What about you.? When your huby going to come? Happiness forever with your loved one cute!(F):star:

  11. Hi guys! Hope everything fine for you and goes well. Actually my friend from VJ ErikaAndHamit helped me out so much. Ty for his/her support. I wanna ask a question if you dont mind to answer.

Yesterday I had my interview at Ankara embassy. And they gave me a green paper which means missing a doc.Consular woman told me that everything is good. But my husband need to summit a bank account which has to have 15k USD on it. (Cuz his income was below for last year) And they made me signed to Ds-230 form and told me that actually they approved my visa but need to send docs first. They gave my passport back. Told me that send your passport with missing doc and green paper. The question is any of you have/had this kind a issue and if any of you got visa after send missed docs? I need your advice.Hope some of you will give me a good news. So I can sleep ..

    Thank you in advance.xoxox
