I have gone through sputum test. I don't have any history of TB, no illness whatsoever, been watching my diet and do walkng as my exercise. But still they found scar in my lungs, but i was negative thank God. During my exam there's plenty of us who have gone through sputum it's very common in Filipinos. If your fiance doesn't have history of TB there's nothing to worry about she'll be negative. There's nothing you can do anyway but to wait. Good luck!

No they will take note of that but will not dissapproved the applicant. TB (w/c is treatable), HIV and Drug Abuse will be of concern.

it is illegal for tourist visa holders to work in the US, unless she can find an employer who is willing to petition her and adjust her status.

Yeah,I showed to the immigration oficer my marriage certificate but still given me this info that i need to file for I 751..
I arrived in San Francisco on March 2. I guess the US Embassy in Manila picked up the dates on my old DS230 so they gave me CR1 we are married for 4 years now. I told the immigration officer of my story (some of the VJmembers advised me I can change it at my POE),he then asked somebody coz i think he is a junior there, the other guy said yes but still left and asked somebody, he came back and said yes he can change it from the system, the young officer searched for my marriage certificate in the packet then change the system to IR1. He then filled up a form why he is changing it and stamped my visa IR1. i don't know what was your POE but somehow your officer wasn't knowledgeable. but what do I know? I just wish you good luck and hope you can fix this.

I am trying to access the CFO website, but it seems to be down. I am at my job, so most likely it is blocked or there is something wrong with my network.
My wife's VISA was approved and this is our last step. Has anybody experienced this CFO seminar who could provide me and my wife with some suggestions, or share their experience?
Can my wife attend the seminar and get her clearance on the same day? I'm not very clear on the proceedure. If anyone could help us out with this it would be really cool.
I know that she will need our NSO Printed Marriage Certificate, but I read an earlier post a while back, and somebody mentioned something about them requiring her NBI clearance. Is that true?
Any helpful information is grately appreciated!

She can just go to PRISM opposite La Salle at Taft Ave., no need to register ahead just tell her to bring her passport and photocopies of her passport, visa and immigrant data summary. No need for marriage cert and nbi clearance. The fee is 250 pesos. PRISM will give her a certificate but she need to go to CFO after the seminar to have her passport stamp and the fee is P400. She'll be done in a day.

She hasn't done her testing yet. The three sputum tests start tomorrow. How long does it take to get results of the smear?
Usually a day or two after the third smear test.

I understand you completely, I was in the same situation two months ago. I don't have a history of TB, watches my diet, exercise regularly, there was only once i got colds and cough but i did x-ray and it was negative. however, slec still found a scar on my lungs and that means i have to do smear test (negative) and culture test (thank god it's negative). If you're wife has no history of TB i'm pretty sure she will test negative so just sit down and relax and wait till two months. here's for your peace of mind: does your fiance's three smear test resulted to negative? because most likely her culture test will be negative. good luck.

Hi to all!
Is there any time along the K1 application when my fiance would need to show her original birth certificate?
If yes, at what point?
Or is a valid Philippine passport an alternative document to show in place of the birth certificate?
She's having problems getting an original copy of her birth cert. from their census office (in the Philippines).
We want to make sure we have original and photocopies of everything on time so we don't delay in case it's needed.
Thanks for any input!
Birth certificate is one of the requirement and there's no other replacement for that. Why is she having a hard time securing one? It's easy to get, maybe if you'll state the reasons why she's having a hard time maybe we can help.

I've bee married to my beautiful Filipina wife for over a month now and I'm so happy that she got to the USA problem free. It was worth all the time, money and effort for her to get here.
But being in the midwest right now has its major downfall. I live in a town that is almost a third Hispanic/Mexican and there are no Filipinos here at all. When my wife and I are out in public we get so many rude stares that I can't believe, even from the Mexicans. My suspicion is that some people are just racist and too ignorant to realize she's not a Mexican in the first place. Anybody ever get that mix-up as well? I didn't realize the full extent of how narrow-minded dumb hicks are in rural communities in the midwest until I got married to a foreigner and started walking around with her in the grocery store.
I don't care what other people think, but after awhile it gets really discouraging and irritating. Her first impression of the USA was pretty much people acting in that way. I had to take her to a big city to show her how much nicer the people are in general. People think most small towns in the midwest are full of nice, heart-warming welcoming friendly folk and it's NOT TRUE! I've been all over the United States enough to know that. If you're an American man marrying a Filipina that's moving here...don't expect her to like small town midwest USA!
We want to not be treated like circus freaks walking around, or just a little respect. Doesn't everyone want that?
this is one of the reason i appreciate living in california more, where a great percentage of it's population is from different races. three of my neighbors are filipinos, go to the mall and you bump on filipinos, filipinos everywhere church restaurants even hair salons. thinking of moving????

The key to a long lasting relationship is communication. Tell him how you feel. Tell him you are still adjusting to the culture and all the things around you and it will be a big help if there's no momentos of his exes around. May tendency tayong mga babae na tatahimik na lang pag may nakita tayong mali sa mga hubbies natin but how will they know that their wrong? How will they know what we want? Talk to him.

I was thinking of having my fiancee get a chest X-ray before the St. Luke's medical exam to find out if she will need a sputum test. I am 99% positive she doesn't have active TB now, but a neighbor in her village died from TB when she was a kid. She doesn't remember having a TB infection, but I can't rule out the possibility that she has latent TB or that something will show up on her chest X-ray that requires a sputum test. And I heard that the St. Luke's clinic is particularly strict with any abnormal speck or dot that shows up on a chest X-ray. So do you think an early X-ray is a good idea or not?
I want to go with her to the St. Luke's medical exam, but I can't stay in the Philippines long enough to wait for a sputum test or TB treatment if either is necessary. And I really don't want to have to leave the Philippines without her!
Can anyone just walk into a doctor's office or hospital and request a chest X-ray? Has anyone here does that before? If so, do you have any idea about the best place (hospital, clinic, doctor's office) to go and how much it will cost?
Thanks in advance for your help!
This is based on my experience, I had an early x-ray because i had cough that lasted for a month, the result was clear no scar, no enlargement of the heart so i thought i was ok. But when my time(that was after a year i had a cough, i havnt had flu or colds before my medical) came to go to St. Lukes for my medical they found a scar on my lungs, so i needed to have a sputum and culture test. Good thing the result was negative but i waited for two months for the result. They didn't honor results from other hospital they will only compare it but still their findings will prevail. I have seen people there who have general check up before going to St. Lukes but they still found something from them and needed to go sputum and culture tests.
If your fiancee feels she's healthy and there's no one in her family who was infected by TB, I think getting early medical is just a waste of money. Just relax and pray that she pass the medical exam.

i just would like to know if a late birth registry is still a big deal for the USEM .Ive had my late registry of birth 2008..i wonder if someone has the same worry as mine?
As long as you got the NSO copy of your birth cert whether it's late it's ok with the US Embassy. I was late registered back in 2000 and it went along fine with the US Embassy. I just got my visa last week.

Is it possible that they purposely gave her a conditional GC?? Please dont take it personally, because I mean it very GENERALLY, but could a consular officer give a CR1 if he feels maybe the marriage isnt a BONAFIDE I love you you love me marriage??
AGAIN I mean this as a GENERAL question, not a personal question with regards to the original poster.
If the consular officer feels that this is not a bonafide marriage then he won't issue me a visa, he will put me under AP. Anyway thanks for your input I will fill up my timelines later.

I received my visa yesterday and it's CR1. I've been married for 4 years now. Is it possible to change it to IR1 at my port of entry? Thank you in advance.

I am very happy for the two of you that you have received your visa...Did you get the IR1..because if you did, that is great news!
Congratulations
Thanks. I got CR1. We're married for 4 years now, will they change it to IR1 at the port of entry?
K-1 Visa OVERSTAY more than 1 yr
in Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)

If you really love her there's nothing you can not do for love, marry her. File for her petition, most likely they will approve it. But she needs to go back to the Phil for the visa (there's no way she can adjust her status in the US) but because she overstayed for 3 years they will deny her a visa but will be eligible to apply for a waiver. The I-601 Waiver is not easy to prepare, you need to prove extreme hardships that you the US citizen will incurr if you and your wife is separated. You may need the help of a reliable immigration attorney, this is a long, expensive and hard process but it's not impossible. Why I know all of these, I've been exactly in the same boat and i'm now here in the US with my ever loving husband. Good luck to you both.
