  1. Hi All,

Me, my wife and daughter arrived Dulles Airport on July 28th 2010. Since this time my 7 year old daughter received a welcome letter dated 8-13-2010 and she received her Green card yesterday. As for my immigrating wife she has received not even a welcome letter even though they both processed in together! Does anyone have a number I can call and talk to a real person to see why my wife has not received a welcome letter?

    thanks

  2. HI All

We have an interview in July and as far as me the husband Petitioner are these the only documents I need to bring about me the Petitioner?

Any suggestions? On documents required by petitioner of a CR1 VISA.

DO I NEED PASSPORT PHOTOS ALSO?

Taken from THE NVC website…(Applicants in the following visa categories are required to provide 1) an original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s birth certificate and 2) original or certified copy of their Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.)

    Thanks

  3. Brazil Authorization Form for Persons under 18 years (minors) to travel. DO THEY EXPIRE?

    Hi,

If anyone can please help because I am starting to stress over this.

I have a question concerning how long they are valid for. Does anyone have experience with using these forms and if so how old can it be?

I noticed some versions of this form have valid until dates and some don’t.

This one does not have a valid until date that I can tell... http://www.bacctrave...auth-minors.pdf

    Thanks

  5. so after calling them everyday and hearing the same thing over and over "waiting for biographic forms from petitioner"" today NVC live operator told me that they got it on may 3rd.

so my question is that i should count the 3 weeks from may 3rd for them to make a decision on AOS????

what's the estimated date? lolz i think i'm getting too impatient here...

and if i get any RFE's, which i'm expecting to get one for writing an ambiguous number for current income, how would i respond back to the RFE's. do i have to prepare a package all over again and fix whatever i have to fix??? how does an RFE works?

I understand your frustration as I am getting impatient also. Once our documents arrived it took them about two weeks to review and we received an RFE checklist via e-mail. I called every other day and found out about the RFE and started working the problem.

The RFE checklist will tell you vaguely what’s wrong. If I were you I would go over the RIFE with the operator. You make the changes and send whatever documents they request with a copy of the checklist letter with the big bar code on top.

In my case they were not specific of what was wrong with our police reports so we had to make our best guess on how to fix. I e-mailed NVC to ask what specifically was wrong and they replied a week later that they would review it and get back with me.

  6. Case complete - April 28

    P4 - April 30

    Interview - June 1

I really don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting on their P4's ... !!!

I sent a RFE for a police report they received on May 3rd per delivery receipt but they did not log in there system as received until May 10th. At this rate it could be a few weeks before they review the case.

  7. Most people (especially the pro's on here) have suggested that you are wasting your time in processing both since the I-130's are processing faster than the I-129's and if both are approved, as in my own case, you will have to go with the IR-1. This is completely true! However, I find it beneficial to file both petitions because the I-129 is free after filing the I-130. Also, if you encounter any problems with your I-130 than the 129 may be a way to keep the process going without a major interruption.

You will hear many opinions on this but I believe in covering all bases just in case! Good luck!

    I would file both.

  8. Hi there I hope someone can help.

We have been at NVC since early March. My wife and I returned a checklist letter response to NVC. We submitted a new long version Birth Certificate a new Brazil Federal Police Certificate that my wife did online as advised per NVC instructions for Brazil. We also submitted a new State Police Certificate as advised per NVC operator.

My question is if they have a problem with our new documents and the person reviewing our documents are in the wrong how can we fix the problem? Can the petitioner speak to a supervisor or case worker? Does anyone know what process NVC has in place to resolve disputes of documents validity? One reason I am asking is that NVC said the initial Federal Report We initially submitted was wrong but NVC gave no specific reason. We know it was correct because I e-mailed the Immigration department at The American Consulate in Rio de Janiero Brazil. They reviewed my wife’s attached Federal Police Report that we had submitted to NVC and told me that apparently there is nothing wrong with the Federal Report we initially submitted to NVC. This has me worried if NVC is telling me documents are incorrect when in fact they are not and not even giving a specific reason.

    Thanks

P.S. I asked The American consulate if they could contact NVC regarding our case and advise NVC that we indeed gave them the correct Federal Police Report. The Consulates response was to take it up with DHS. I feel like I am just getting the run around  if you call the Immigration Department to talk to them during the correct scheduled time you can’t speak to anyone but an operator and if they transfer you to an immigration officer the call goes to a voice mail that is full. I am very disappointed with the system in place that is supposed to help American Citizens.

  10. When you recieve an RFE from the NVC. How long does it take them to process it? I want a sign in fail this week! We sent in our RFE last Monday (5/3) they should have received it Tuesday (5/4)

I was told 8 to 10 days. I know how you feel I am waiting also.

  11. No, just the new one. I also had a new passport issued in my married name; that is the one I used as that was the current active passport.

Hi we got an RFE on my wife’s Birth Certificate. The NVC operator said the RFE was because they need the long version but the checklist letter referenced some quote implying we sent an unofficial copy even though it was fine for USCIS.

So please make sure you get the long version with the appropriate seals stamps signature from the proper government authority.

You want to avoid that it has the appearance of a copy.

I am still waiting on my wife’s BC to travel from NE BRAZIL to NVC.

  12. Sachinky is right, she is good with the timelines. The NVC received our RFE checklist response back on April 28th and it was on the AVR as of May 4th. We are anticipating a CC on May 11th, barring no more RFE's of course!

I noticed we both arrived at NVC around the same time. It sure sucks that we have both been there for almost 2 months! Stupid RFE's!!! All you can do is be patient and let the process take it's course...

    Good luck!

Thank you both for the info. Good luck!

  13. The waiting is starting to stress me. I am anxious to know if the new Police Report we submitted will satisfy their requirements. They received it on 5-3-2010 per my Delivery receipt via priority Mail. I called yesterday and no update on our case yet. My wife mailed two more RFE responses from Brazil yesterday and will take 4 or 5 days to get to NVC. I would like others to share how long it took NVC to processes there RFE’s.

    Thanks

  14. This happened to me as well because my passport biographic page was still in my maiden name. I emailed my Consulate who said changes can be made at the interview stage. I would email your Consulate and confirm if they will do this as well if your wife now has a passport in her married name.

Edit to add: They will only do this if the PCC is in both the married name and the maiden name which mine is.

Thanks I am mostly worried that NVC will not accept The Police reports my wife Just FedEx to NVC. They are in her Married name as her surname but the middle of her name incorporates her maiden name. The NVC operator said it would be ok because in the computer at NVC has all her aliases are listed and we filed the petition under married name which in Brazil is her legal name. I hope the NVC operator is correct if not we will be set back at least another month or longer. It takes a week to get a FedEx document from my wife’s town to NVC.

This process is stressful to many including me. I am worried they will find something else wrong.

  15. We changed Mhay's passport right after the NOA2. For the police reports, they should be able to list all AKA's. I dont think the police reports will be a problem though. I know Mhay's police report from korea was in her maiden name because we werent married yet and we had no problems.

Thanks I hope in my case things get better. I am starting to get Paranoid about the documents they are so strict.

  16. The original petition and NVC document cover sheet listed my wife’s married name. After we got an RFE checklist her name was changed to match her passport. A NVC Operator told me that my wifes name was changed back to how it was on her Passport and if we wanted to change it back to her married name she would have to get a new passport with her married name and send a copy to them requesting they change it back. What concerns me is that we have Two police report RFE’s she will send correcte ones from Brazil today to NVC that have her married name because her Brazilian ID has her MARRIED NAME with her maiden name in the middle. They will only issue a Police report that matches the name on her Brazilian ID.The NVC operator said this won’t be a problem because they have all her aliases in the system. I am worried about this and want to know if anyone had a similar issue. I feel like the safest thing to do is leave it alone for now.

  17. Hi,

The Federal Police Report we sent NVC was notarized but it was missing a special green seal that has a serial number on it. Unfortunately the operator could not confirm what was wrong with it. I did not want to push them to hard on the issue. So we will send two different kinds one from the online Policia Federal and another from the local branch of Federal police of her town with the green serialized seal.

    Thanks

Update: The American Consulate in RIO e-mails me back with the words apparently the Federal Police Report You sent was correct. I requested they help me fix this problem with NVC.

  18. she need it to be notarized from the cartorio and confirm the signature.

that's why maybe they didn't accept it.

    Boa Sorte...

  19. The IIN comes in the AOS Fee Bill email. If you haven't gotten one yet, call NVC back and ask for 'AOS FEE BILL TO BE EMAILED TO YOU'. You need the IIN to log in to the online payment portal.
