  1. We have our AOS interview date next month in Jacksonville. Can anyone tell me what to expect with questions? Is this interview a one on one or can I be there too? About how long does this interview take?

Where would you also suggest for Pinoy related stuff, sari sari, resto in the JAX area?

  2. My co sponsor is afraid of thief info in the mail sending their original tax transcript or tax returns, W2, paystub either of the 2. We know that when have tax transcript no need for paystubs , emp cert . Are there among here who did this sending originals tax returns? Does the consul really ask for the original tax returns of the co sponsor because those infos are all there the SSS # and everything...Pls help. We started to print all those tax returns they emailed us here but some here advised they might ask for originals the consul....

Every single tax document i sent to the Philippines was scanned and printed, but before i scanned the documents, i made sure that every page did not expose my ssn or bank account info. when i printed out the copies, there was no trace of my ssn or bank routing number to be read or identified. my wife had no problems submitting these documents for the support part of our paperwork.

  3. like i said, i don't trust websites with how much they state they are secure, so blocking people on my friends list has nothing to do with the issue. I've been warned by banks that even their servers have been hacked into. ....now, don't you think that a bank would have better security than a social website? what i'm talking about are those hacking individuals out there, not my fb fam members or friends.

and to make a long story short...things are resolved and i'm keeping my account.

my social life isn't on fb, it's on the valve steam CODMW2 PC server....join the [AdObO] clan today.

    happy fps hunting. lol.

  4. Originally I opened a facebook account years before I met my wife as a way to say hi to old school friends and relatives, most of which don't live in my region.

I don't trust putting all my "personal info", facts or pictures on the internet reguardless of how "secure" websites are.

I learned this way of thinking from all the movies i've seen and all the past and continuous training i've received from the military.

My wife was so upset because I won't post pictures of us online, though she posts pictures of us on her facebook account and links me to the pictures with me in them.

I have only requested that she not link me in some pictures or remove some pictures only because i didn't particularly like the way i looked in some of the picturs, but not all.

She claims that I have no pride in having her as a wife and that i'm trying to keep her in the shadows from my online life, which I don't really do have one.

I've been harrassed by her twice now for the same issue, so I decided to just close my facebook account, which means also that I don't have that easy access way to just say hi to old friends and more importantly....my relatives. I was just so tired of how high she escaladed this issue and since I feel like she will never give into this and think that she's right, so i just closed the account.

Do you think that because of my reasoning for protecting my personal life that I am no directly guilty of not showing her off to the world of the internet???

  5. I could easily buy my grandmother's land in Bicutan, but I'd rather not live in an urban environment. I have fallen in love with Palawan, but would rather prefer the coolness that Baguio brings. I could also easily settle on beautiful Batanes, but it's a bit over isolated for me.

  6. If you can, make a little vacation out of it all. No big neen to live the life of staying at home while you're there. Vacationing there is very affordable and worth it while you're visiting. My wife and I spent time on Corregidor Island, then the next day after we returned to Manila flew to Puerto Princessa, Palawan. When we flew back to Manila we hooked up with my cousin to eat at the dampa market next to the Mall of Asia, then took us to Tagaytay. My wife and I took a bus from Tagaytay to Manila and spent a few days at her house before I flew back.

I will tell you that if you spend your time "at home" while you're there, you will be missing out on so much to see in that country.

If you are staying in the NCR area (Manila) it would be worth your time to check out Corregidor Island, Intramuros (Fort Santiago), Quiapo district, and Dampa near MOA (go there starving, leave super full). Personally I don't highly recommend visiting the Aquarium at Bagumbayan Park. I wasn't really impressed especially with the 500Php price. I consider it to be a huge tourist trap, with no cultural or historic contribution.

  7. okay, we're in process of our aos/ead papers and we got a letter for a biometrics appointment.

um....as far as we know, this has already been done before my wife left her home country, so why is this being done again?

we're going along with it and not fighting it only because i need an excuse to visit New Orleans again for a few beers on Bourbon St. .....oh and the fun of seeing ta-tas on bourbon st. at night too. lol.

we're open minded so no need for the rebut comments.

  8. what i did was go into the ym saved chat logs and took a screen shot of the fact that we had chats daily, showing dates. I saved them as pictures for her to print out. it was good enough. also, anything you two send to each other, save any receipts...items purchased and shipping.

i only flew there to meet her once and proposed to her during that trip. the next time i saw her was when she was cleared into the US.

  9. I left my heart in the Philippines when I moved away at age 12 and I want to move back there one day. I keep telling myself that i'll be out of the US no later than 59 1/2, when i'll be able to draw my 401k with no penalties. i'll probably settle down in the baguio area.

  10. I love the magic jack. with my new home phone and cell phone configuration, it saves me over $75 a month.

If the user does not have good internet service, the magic jack won't be of much use. I sent one to my fiance when she was in the Philippines. Her internet service was terrible. She didn't have a huge problem understanding me, but I could almost never understand what she was saying.

If you do get one, I suggest you play with the settings. I found that my results were better when I changed the settings to the "3G" selection, rather than the "Hi-speed".

I would also suggest that if you're a frequent multi tasking computer user or if you are easily annoyed with being disturbed while using your computer to get a dedicated computer for the magic jack. I found that I had hung up on ringing incoming calls while i was typing on the keyboard...or when my fiance is done making a phone call, my computer game is interupted from the magicjack pop-up screen.

you will save enough money with it to be able to afford a dedicated computer....even a nettop computer only costs $200 new...

likely my next purchase if i can't find an old laptop to do the job.

  11. it's about time. i wonder what took so long since my fiance had her interview on the 12th and got her passport back with visa on 20th...well my fiance will be flying on the 3rd. i'm stoked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! X a billion!

  12. Just make sure that the brown envelope from the embassy is not opened, torn or damaged in any way.

Mostly its a paperwork matter. No real questions. My SO was asked if she was aware that she only had 90 days to marry and little else...

Remember to ask for your X-Ray CD cause its yours to keep. Also fill up the I-94 while on the plane cause it a lot easier than waiting till you get to the Customs desk.

Have your embassy packet and passport ready for the officer and say Please and Thank You!! :)

    Welcome to America!!

    -Phil

when you say open....what about the fact that my fiance's envelope has a huge corner chunk missing.

  13. My fiance is due to arrive in the US next week with her K-1 visa. Can anyone tell me what she can expect to happen? Does anyone have any tips that might help us with her working earlier or for her adjustment/change of status. Are there any questions she should ask before she's allowed to leave the customs officials?

I'm looking for answers that involve her when she's at the airport. All answers that are related to the future, i'll ask re-ask those questions later. Perhaps i'm asking some questions that can only be handled in the future after the POE. I'm sort-a clueless about what happens during and after the POE.

  14. I've been using the MJ for several months now as my primary home phone here in the US. I sent one to my fiance and what we found out is that you NEED to have BETTER THAN DECENT internet in order for it to work clearly. It also helps to switch the setting to aircard (3g), rather than normal (hi-speed).

Most of our conversations are useless because we can barely understand each other due to her internet service.

what she has for internet service is provided by some cellphone company that utilizes a small dish that's pointed at a cell tower, so it's either globe or smart.

Guys, it's just better to get your fiance/wife better internet service if you're going to use the magicjack.
