  1. My concern is that she has a grandmother that is old and if she passes away she wants to be able to go back to her country immediately. Once she steps foot in the USA, she doesn't want that limitation of being stuck here if any necessary emergency were to happen where she needs to go back to her country.

  2. Oh wow! I didn't know you can have the medical and interview 2 days apart! My fiancee lives 2000 miles from Moscow. I wouldn't want her to fly to Moscow for the medical exam and then go back home and then wait for a few more weeks and fly to Moscow again for the interview. I even thinking about gambling it and purchase her plane ticket to depart Russia one day after the interview and hope she gets her visa.

Do you know if the approve medical exam facilities are only in Moscow?

Yes the medical exam comes first. My Natasha went to Moscow for 4 days took the medical the second day she was there, the third day she went sightseeing and the next she went for the interview.

  3. Thanks bainbridge! Next time I'm in Illinois I will treat you and Olga to dinner. :)

Go to the embassy website at http://moscow.usembassy.gov click the visa tab and then look for Fiance visas ( I think it is under the Immigrant visa tab ) That will give you everything that Moscow needs. Some of the required paperwork is embassy specific. The site also has a list of Panel Physicians and clinics for the medical ( actually there are only 2 ).

    Good Luck !!!!

Oh ! and receiving packet 3 is kind of hit and miss with Moscow. I have read that some have received it and many others have not. Olga has not received hers, but everything you need is listed on the site.

  4. Thanks Andy! Thats valuable advice...

The idea is the Alien Beneficiary is the Applicant for the visa and therefore the Beneficiary should fill out the forms DS-230 Part I, DS-156, DS-156 and some Embassies/Consulates want DS-157.

But in many cases the Beneficiary might not have a good grasp of the English language. In such cases it is perfectly acceptable for the USC Petitioner to fill out the forms on behalf of the Alien Beneficiary.

Not all (actually not many) actually send out a Packet 3 of forms. Many see to see the web site of the Embassy/Consulate and provide a link for going to the forms. I woukld not use the forms provided by VJ. I would first go to the Embassy/Consulate that will be conducting the interview to see if there is a link to Packet 3 or K Visa Appointment Packages.

If not, then I woul go to the Department of State web site as that is where you must fill out Form DS-156 the new electronic form filled out online, submitted and returned in a few minutes with a barcode.

    Good luck.

  5. Hi Everyone,

I'm a little confused about the guideline after getting NOA2. It states:

    1) A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one).

    2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.

Aren't these two the same exact thing? What am I missing?

    Thanks!

  6. Seriously. Who proposes after a two week vacation in Eastern Europe? That's NOT enough time to even get to KNOW somebody, let alone decide if you're willing to spend the rest of your life with them. You need to slow down, buddy.

Seems like your girl is over this whirlwind romance. If she is not interested in pursuing this relationship, there's really nothing you can do.

Contact USCIS and withdraw your petition with a notarized statement.

I knew my previous wife for 9 years before we got married and were dating 5 years before we got married. Married for 15 years and didn't work out. So, no guarantees there either.

There is also a statistic that shows that arrange marriages have an 80% success rate. That's freaky to me.

I have a friend who met someone in Germany online. They corresponded for 8 months before they met. First time they met, he proposed. They been married for 3 years now and these two act like it's their first time together every time I see them.

My point here is, anything can happen. I do agree that you should know someone before you commit.

I'm sorry to hear this happened. This is why they have a K-1 though...so you have 90 days together to decide if you want to get married. I would follow the advice given here if it is decided the relationship is over for sure. Best of luck to you in the future.

I personally think 90 days is not enough. This should be 2 years :)

  7. You should check the information in Packet 3 for the Consulate you will be interviewing at. They give the requirements for the Police Record as they do vary with the consulate. Bangkok wants the certificate for every country you resided in for 12 months or more.

Normally the home country is just treated as one police certificate but you should check the web pager for your Embassy.

Some countries do not provide the police certificate if you live outside like South Korea. So all other Embassies consider that one unobtainable.

    Good luck

    Very good information. Thank you!
