  1. An Update.

I did what someone suggested. We sent two separate checks. One for my wifes paperwork with a check for $1070 and a seperate one for her son with a check for $635. Her's gets approved but, get this, they reject his because paperwork was signed by me. In Part 6 where it says "Signature of Person Preparing Form, If Other Than Above" I filled in my information and wrote "Stepfather Applicant is 5 years old" Which is me. Because he is 5 YEARS OLD!!!!!! And can't yet read or write!!!!

I just don't get these people. I send this stuff 5 times because they can't add and require two checks. Their rejection notice says that the amount is wrong for the first 5 times and don't say that they need 2 separate checks. Just that the amount is wrong. And now this #######.

I am so fedup with the stupidity of this process, we have gotten to the point where we don't care anymore if this ever becomes legal in the eyes of this government. I will send this paperwork back to them with "his" signature, but we just may say screw it and move back to Ukraine.

  2. Yes but technically its two petitions not one petition for two people. It should be 2 separate checks one for each petition.

I suggest the OP send a copy of the USCIS website fee page highlighted the amount for the child and the adult and put 2 checks one for the adult petition and one for the child petition and affix the appropriate check to the appropriate petition.

That's funny you say that but also a great idea.

the reason it is funny is that this time THEY sent that page to ME with a highlight to certain areas. Highlighted first is the I-131 fee but then highlight is the waiver if filed with the I-485. So no fee. The the I-485 is highlighted for her. Fee $985. And under that is I-485 for him. Fee of $635. On the next page the -765 is highlighted with the fee waved with the I-485. So no fee. And then the Biometrics fee for $85 is highlighted.

    So $985 + $635 + $85 = $1705

So, OK. I'll do two checks on Monday. But I'm sure it will be rejected. Just because they can!!!

Is there a office that you can walk into and pay in person?

  3. Hi all,

Trying to get AOS started and we have sent the I-485, I-765 and I-131 4 times and I went to the mail box and it has been rejected AGAIN.

First sent in Sept 2010 and they rejected it due to wrong fees. First time sent the check for her, her son and Bios and it was kicked back. They didn't take into account her son. So I had it right but they screwed it up. Waited a few months (we were pregnant) and sent again. This time with 2 checks. One for what I knew was right and one with what they said they wanted which I knew was wrong. Bad idea. They didn't like the 2 check method so it was sent back again. Sent it again but didn't realized that the fees had changed so it was kicked back again. Got the money right but one of the forms had changed so we filed out a new form and sent it back with the new fess and kicked back again. Forgot to check a box on the new form. So checked the box and sent again. And I now have it in my hands AGAIN, with the same notes from a year ago that say the fees are wrong. Before I sent it last time I got an agent on the phone and she told me $1705 was right.

    What are the fees?!?!?!?!?!!?!

$985 for the I-485 plus $635 for her son. Plus the biometrics for $85. That should be a total of $1705. I-765 and I-131 should be free since filed with a I-485.

We have included a check for $1705. Is there a Biometrics for her son? He is 5 years old.

I am about over this process and think we should just become an illegal family and put an Obama poster in the front yard so he can make all illegals legal since it is so freaking hard to do this right!

What are the fees. Can someone help?

  4. Hello all.

I have a strange one here. I'll try to make is short and to the point.

I sent the I-485, I-765 and the I-131 in with a check for $1610. The fee was for my wife and son.

I got 3 rejection notices back. Yes 3.

The first one on the 485 said my check was wrong. It stated the filing fee is 930 plus 80 for fingerprints. A total of 1010.

The second one was with the I-765 and said the fee is 340 but is free if filed with the I-485. Ok. Total still should be $1010 at this point.

The third was on the I-131 and said the fee was 305 but would be free if filed with the I-485. Total still $1010.

But on their website it says that if her son (who is 4) files with her it is an additional 600 for a total of $1610. And I sent them $1610.

Should I just send them the $1010 now and wait for them to tell me it is wrong again? I included everything for the son to also adjust status. Copy of BC, copy of Visa in mothers passport, and a I-485 filled out for him.

Any ideas? Did I just get a newbie who looked at my paperwork. Any ideas as to what I did wrong?

    Thanks,

    Steve

  5. Hey Guys and Gals,

I feel like taking a big breath after all of the plans from the wedding, but I guess we need to get the AOS done soon. I am assuming a few things so let me ask. Allie's entry date was at the end of June. We need to file AOS before the 90 days is up for the K-1. Correct?

And the fee is $1010 and $600 for our son who is 5, correct? Total of $1610.

Good to see the Rumrunner is still afloat. It has been an amazing trip and I look forward to the day when Allie and I no longer have to worry about the next government form that we have to fill out.... I'm sure everyone feels the same.

  6. Hey David,

You're not going to like my reply, but here it is...

I tried to send my sweetie some things for Valentines. Nothing very special. A card, a shirt, a little outfit, a teddy bear for her son and 2 hot wheels cars for him as well. I sent it FedEx and it cost about 140 bucks. She lives in a relatively small town (40,000) SW of Odessa. FedEx showed the city in their database. Well.......... Within about 4 days it was in Kiev and then the fun started. After at least 10 calls to FedEx, 4 or 5 trips to the local office, sending 3 copies of the same commercial packing list (It wasn't commercial, it was personal...) paying Ukrainian customs about 40 bucks and 30 some odd days, FedEx called me and said they were shipping it back to me and were going to charge me to ship it back!!!! I told them to throw it in the trash or let the drunk Bas%^rd in customs keep it for his wife and kids. But No. They said it was coming back. And it did. About 4 days later it showed up on my porch and it now sits on my kitchen table and my little love will open it in about 2 weeks when she gets here (the visa was approved last week).

I called FedEx and raised hell and they finally gave me my money back. And they did not charge me to ship it back. it seems FedEx just does not know how to deal with Ukrainian customs, or they may be only set up for commercial transactions. Everyone I spoke to in Memphis just did not understand what was wrong with customs. So I would assume that mine was a strange case (It was just a simple small package) or no one uses FedEx to ship to Ukraine. I would assume that this is why the embassy uses DHL to ship their packages.

I hope you have better luck than I did. Years ago I shipped some things via USPS and it took about a month, but she did get it.

  7. Sweet. But sorry Al, I will NOT be counting 334 rungs from the left to find your lock.

Hahahhaha. Awwwww come on Gary! You know you at least have to look for it! The next time your on the bridge, you know this will just eat at you and you'll HAVE to find it. You'll remember this conversation , cussing me and muttering, "Damn It!!!! here I am looking for this damn lock....'

    :lol::yes:

And it's actually (in my very humble and un-conceited opinion) a very well done lock. I used a grinder to grind the words into it. I probably could have a future as a professional lock grinder. I could set-up a booth at the end of the bridge and custom grind locks...... Naaahhhh. On second thought I'll stay here and visit once a year.....

  8. Ah Odessa! I will be there in a little over two weeks as well. One other romantic thing is the Mother-In-Laws bridge which is north of the Potemkin stairs. Lovers hang locks to signify their love for each other. http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/2432595

You should take a lock and put in on the bridge. Alyona and I have ours on rung #334. It can be found on the north side of the bridge and counting from the western side of the bridge. Please feel free to visit it. My heart is truly locked in Odessa with her heart. We threw the keys into the ocean near Arcadia beach near our favorite restaurant. I love that city.

Another great place for shopping is the 7 Kilometer mall. But only go with a Ukrainian and still be careful. It is cash only (US dollars) and there are bargains to be had. But there is also knock-offs so be careful and shop wisely. If you leave out of the airport on the road that heads north from the airport and turn left at the light at the end of this road, the 7 KM mall is about 4 KM on the left. It is impossible to miss it. Not very glamourous but it is a bargain hunters dream. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventh-Kilometer_Market

    Have a wonderful time.

  9. Hello all,

Our interview is on June 9th (a Wednesday) in Kiev. We would like to pick up the visa at the "FedEx" office in Kiev after the interview. That is, God willing, we are approved. Assuming that we are approved, I was wondering if anyone could share their experience about picking the Visa/passport up at the FedEx office instead of having it mailed to them. We were hoping to pick the visa up in time to catch a flight out of Odessa on Saturday afternoon. So we would need to have the visa no later than Friday.

Is this even possible? How quick is the Visa at the FedEx office after the interview?

    Thanks,

    S

  10. NOA2 Finally!!!!!! I thought this day would never come!!! Thank you God! After almost 6 years it looks me and Alyonushka will be together forever soon (LONG story)!

Captain. Would it be OK for me to pick your brain as to the next processes since I will be in Kiev about a month behind you?

Also folks, we still have some people on the RumRunner who have been below decks with me patiently waiting NOA2. I will be with the parrot still on board till they are all approved. We will leave no man or woman behind!!!!

    Steve

  11. Don't mean to scare anyone, but look at my timeline. I got an email today from USCIS saying I would receive a decision soon. Soon compared to what? This whole process has been a total joke.

I completely agree. A complete and utter joke with absolutely with no accountability. I would guess that your letter was computer generated and the only positive thing it might have done was notify a supervisor that one of their employees is "overloaded" with work. I am sorry that you are having to endure this.

  12. Is it unusual that 107 days have passed, but the Vermont Service Center has not even touched my file??

    Is there something wrong?

    What should I do?

It is nice to know ( I am sorry to say this.....) that there is someone in the same empty boat as I am (a RumRunner reference from the Dec VSC thread). I am one day behind you brother. It is nice to hear everyone say that we should just wait and that we will get it any day now, but this really sucks. Especially when some people from December already have their interviews scheduled. In all honesty I think what has happened is that when K-1 petitions arrive in VSC, a few days from each month are handed to the one person at VSC who we all love. You know who I speak of. The one employee who has been there for 35 + years, has 3 months vacation, 21 sick days, 12 mental days, takes 2 hours for lunch, comes in late, sits next to the coffee station and LOVES to "chat" and tells everyone about their next excursion down to the city. They also have to leave early everyday to pick up the Grandkids from school. Basically the walking retired employee. Yup. That's right. Our petitions are sitting on the desk of someone who maybe gets in 4 hours of work a week. And that's on a good week.

So I guess everyone is right. All we can do is sit and wait and pray that the Grandkids don't get sick. :D

  13. Anyone else STILL waiting on the NOA2? I'm really going crazy. NOA1 Dec 8 and no touches since Dec 11 2009, they told me I could call and request that the case be updated next Friday April 9 2010 and USCIS would have to update it within 45 days.. I was hoping to have the wedding in June, don't know if that's too unrealistic now or not.

Very frustrating because I know I've done absolutely everything right- we both have totally clean background checks and was very thorough and organized with the packet. I guess just really bad luck. If it's taking so long, why no RFE or touches? Grrr..

Hoping someone else in my situation will speak up so I don't feel so alone.

For now just encouraging fiance to get everything prepared.

I'm right there with you. Our NOA1 date is later than yours (Dec. 29th) but the wait is maddening. I have stopped checking USCIS, VJ Timelines and simply wait on an email or text. It is out of our control now and all we can do is wait. I feel like we have been completely left behind.

  14. Not to spread the parrot poop that lingers up on deck (someone should REALLY clean that up!) but I thought I would stick my head up from below decks and say three months and counting. Congratulations to all the new winners of the all elusive NOA2. I'm going to head back below decks and drink the rest of the rum, eat some dark chocolate and wish I didn't have the most common name in the US and my sweet little Alyonushka didn't have the most common Russian last name......

Wake me up when we get along side Vermont so I can give them a salute and a broadside!
