  1. 2. Of course there are Gays in the military, and there are people who use Drugs or people who belong to gangs or have other associations which they are quite about, all these people probably do a good job in their work capacity.... so whats your point?

Being gay=being a drug addict and/or gang member.

I just want to point this out as a useful diagrammatical component in my ongoing series, "Anatomy of a Batsh*t Homophobe." Thanks for all you do, buddy!

  2. So, the one thing America does right - our military - is on pace to catch up with the rest of the world and you're happy about that?

I suppose you'll be happy when we have corruption, genocide and poverty as well. Or perhaps we'll be "fortunate" like other first world countries and live in a nanny state where our government tells us what we can and can't do. At least gays will be part of the dictatorship, provided our new dictators like gays.

Aww, it's cute how you think we don't have corruption, genocide and poverty already. And how you equate those atrocities with civil rights. And by cute I mean psychotic.

  3. I don't know about today's military, but 28 years ago any self professed ** would have gotten their head bashed in. It's the military, not some fairy bar in Frisco.

And no it's not natural for one man to "give it" to another man. Anyone who thinks that's "natural" needs a clue.

    Grampa?

  4. Typical lIberal, rather than have a civil conversation you replies back breaking the TOS.

Seriously, do my views make you "feel faint".....

I would break out the "**" term but I wouldn't want it to wrongly get mixed up in the topic at hand.

I DO replies back so typical and such! Emoticon! I would break out the "English" and "reasoning" but wouldn't want it to tax your synapses! ROFL!

No but well done. Touche and sh*t.

  5. correction - 70%

The Pentagon has concluded that allowing gay men and women to serve openly in the United States armed forces presents a low risk to the military's effectiveness, even at a time of war, and that 70 percent of surveyed service members believe that the impact on their units would be positive, mixed or of no consequence at all.

    Um...yes.

  6. INFIDEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am delivering a smackdown for your INTRANSIGENCE when I come over to see you and Mr Owl tomorrow night. (I'm bringing a six-pack of some microbrew or other.)

I don't know what you're mad about, and whatever it isn't and/or is will be handled through the proper channels, ie. the aforementioned six pack. GOODNIGHT NO I SAID GOODNIGHT. Rob you're welcome as always. There's gingerbread. Also we have a frog.

  7. You compare your options of freedom to associate... with people who have no such options.

    :bonk:

Wait, is this you trying to position straight male military members as the oppressed faction here? Do you get sore from twisting things so profoundly? The service members themselves don't give a sh*t. Congress granted this repeal like butter. The majority of the country is over it. And here you still are recommending the dark ages as the only possible way forward.

Don't you think it would be cathartic to just admit you cannot stand the idea of gay sex? And that you hate gay people with the irrational heat of a thousand flaming rainbow hued suns?

FFS. You have LOST this one. All your beloved wars will go on without a hitch, and once again you'll be on the wrong side of history with regard to civil rights and progress. If you had the capacity to be ashamed of your own ignorance and hate, now would be the time to do some slinking off, licking of wounds (no **!), and refueling for the next time you need to protest a marginalized group wanting to be recognized as equal.

Honestly, I feel faint when you remind me of the hate we have in this country. Do you recommend leeches as a cure?

  8. As Inky says, you cannot have him deported. But you can file for divorce, talk to the police about the false claim, see about protection for yourself while you get him away from you, and move on with your life. You cannot "punish" him in any greater way because he is an immigrant as opposed to a natural born citizen. So don't bother thinking in those terms, and just think about your situation as if it were any other failing marriage. (Get a lawyer.)

  9. Hi there,

We sent the i-129 form on 11/23/2010 to Dallas Processing Center. The check we sent was cached yesterday 12/3. I noticed some folks got notifications via email. Is that how the government agency communicates in these days? Should I expect something in the mail with a number to track the progress?

Your check that was cashed should have a number on it that will help you access the online notifications. On the back. Or you can just wait for your NOA 1, which will have all your info. Be patient; it's a long haul.

  10. First of all, I would like to thank all of you for coming together in this community. The information and opinions compiled here are simply invaluable to anyone seeking some light in the dark that is immigration. I'm sure my fiancee and I will be grateful for any responses we receive in this matter.

I'm a US citizen residing in the United States. I am in the armed forces and possess a top secret clearance. My fiancee is a Scottish (UK) citizen currently residing in Britain and attending school. We are trying to weigh our options. We are, of course, as of yet unmarried. The option is, however, open to us. Our situation is that we would like to be together, like anyone else here as soon as possible, but using the method best tailored to our circumstances:

    1) Submit a I-129F for K1 this month.

OR get married in Scotland (UK) in February

    2) Submit a I-130 for Consular Processing.

    3) Submit a I-130/I-129F for K3 immediately after marriage in February.

Can anyone offer input on what option here might be best for us, or if there are any other options available to us? What are the realities of these options? Upon our marriage, we will begin receiving a significant housing and living allowance through my military service. For this reason, marriage a bit earlier in the process is an option and could potentially make things easier.

Mm, there's not a huge difference in the two options, and you're correct that those are the two best options. If you get married first, she'll be able to work sooner, but that doesn't sound like an important component for you. The K1 fiance visa is a bit quicker. Choose what seems simplest--for me, it was the K1 because I couldn't afford to go marry and all that--needed to set up shop and establish myself while sponsoring my SO. Then the marriage can happen as soon as you want; you're all good to marry the same day she arrives, if you like.

My take is that the main advantage of the CR is immediate eligibility to work. Hope that helps a little. Times are slowing down but my K1 was finished in 4 months, so there's that.

  11. I think we both agree, there is no simple, easy or fast way to correct the damage that has been done.

Welfare destroys the age old dynamic of admiring, elevating and eventually choosing a mate which will be a asset to the creation of a family.

People must feel... and others must observe a real downside to choosing to bed (and wed) with unstable partners.

While I would never want Children to starve for the errors of their parents, we have done too much ..... to the point where lifestyles which lead to poverty are shielded from the discomfort of poverty.

Why should the "poor" eat better than the working class? NC food stamps gives a family of 3 nearly $400 each month..... thats not "helping feed the poor" that is Govt becoming 100% food provider.

What is so bad about allowing people who drop out of school..... and refuse to take advantage of training programs....with them existing on generic food brands and buying bread from the "day old" shop?

Using Coupons and scrimping to get by, who the "F" are they to expect everyone but themselves will feed them and their kids?

IT's one thing that people have the freedom to live any life style they choose...... it's another to make me subsidize it.

    1. "We have done too much....to the point where lifestyles which lead to poverty are shielded from the discomfort of poverty." In your dreams. Please don't speak of a reality of which you know nothing.

    2. "Why should the 'poor' eat better than..." They don't. Trust me.

    3. What about the national budget, replete with massive payouts for endless war, compels you to focus and vilify the poor to the exclusion of all else? There is a repeated drumbeat (redundancy noted) in these forums concerning the poor, and how hard it is on all the hard-working others to have to have one gabillion of their tax dollars allotted this way. #######???

The question is not, "how lazy are these a*sholes." The question is, why do you people insist on piling on to the segment of society that hurts the most, while all other expenditures go without comment? What is it ABOUT YOU that obsesses over people that only struggle, and fear, and strive constantly?

Again and again, commentary is devoted to the moral/intellectual/sexual/organizational/whatever failings of those with the least. Have you ever wondered what's it's like to try to make things work on minimum wage? Have you ever considered that when your rent accounts for 70% of your income, your life is a conveyor belt of terror?

No, of course not. The scorn in these forums is disgusting.

Of aaaaalllll the things you could hate, you hate the poor. Enthusiastically, tirelessly, vigorously. Are you just afraid of becoming one of them, and knowing how little support you'd actually get as a poor person? Do you hate them because you want to extend the miniscule distance between yourself and them--pretend you're different? Do you hate them because it makes you feel smarter, wiser, bigger, better?

Nobody here is better than the poor. You may think you made your way and that everybody's lot is their own making. False. You all act like someone born on third base, thinking he hit a triple. Shut up. Get back to me when you've tried to support your family on wages that barely cover your rent. WAGES are the problem. RENTS are the problem. Government "handouts," anemic as they are, are not the problem.

Just because you've found an out, doesn't mean you are somehow immune or different. Stop blaming the people that have nothing. Stop making the problem worse with your false equivalencies and your contempt. Most of the people in this country are poor. There's a systemic problem. Quit beating the people that are already beaten. You'll change nothing by hating on those with the least. Unless that's what you want--to maintain the sense of separation so as to secure your notion that you'll never confront such agony.

  12. When we submitted ours initially, we didn't include a lot of evidences. Just a couple of pictures together along with the forms. We submitted it to their military unit legal office inside the camp but he was requested to put in more evidences. So we gathered more phone, chats, email transcripts, airline tickets, hotel receipts, etc and included it in the package. That's when the lady from legal told him it's good to go. So I guess it doesn't hurt to put in more than what is needed. Saves you from worrying about RFEs too. Also as you said, it depends on the consulate if they're gonna look at it at the interview. But doesnt hurt to be prepared :)

    Yeah your situation was unique.

OP's situation requires only basic data as requested in initial petition. No logs, no relationship evidence. Many consulates don't care about this even at the interview stage--although some do. We still need consulate locale info.

  13. Hi

My boyfriend and I are filing the K1 visa. I've read that the phone records are important to have during the interview to show the proof of ongoing relationship. But the problem is that my boyfriend is in the military and he will be deployed soon in another country and maybe he wont be having his cp there to use. We used skype to talk everyday. I wonder if Skype phone records are enough to show proof. Is not having a phone record to show later will give us problem in getting our visa?

I'm glad there's a website like this cuz we can learn a lot from here. It's somewhat complicated to understand everything since my boyfriend and I don't know so much about this whole thing. We are learning from your real experiences. Thank you.

You don't need any phone, chat, email or other ongoing relationship evidence for your initial filing. Also please indicate your beneficiary country. You can accumulate logs for the interview, but they may not be important depending on what consulate you'll be at. If you can't do Skype and other, just send snail mail and keep records.

  14. Hello,

I was wondering about the drug question as well, my fiance had a ruff childhood and did do drugs in high school, does he have to state this or can he not say anything because he did it as a minor?

I know about the three year ban and am trying to do everything truthfully not to get that but i hear some stories where they dont even care if you do tell the truth

This is a tricky one, because throughout the entire process, honesty is absolutely a priority--and you clearly know that. In this single situation though, concerning the question "have you ever used illegal drugs," if you answer honestly in the affirmative, you will have a headache on your hands, one that seems unnecessary to many people. So I have heard stories that beneficiaries at the medical often opt to answer in the negative to this question, if minor drug use occurred in the distant past and is not any kind of current issue that would show up in tests.

Visa Journey, however, cannot advocate this, and nobody here can recommend this course of action. Capiche?
