  1. Hello everyone,

I filed my application on Jan 20, 2012. I didn't receive any correspondence, however my check was cashed and i received my biometric notice dated Jan 27, 2012.

I went for my biometrics Feb 10,2012 because the date i was given Feb 24,2012 was a date i was going out of town.

I haven't received anything since then and i can't seem to remember my password for the USCIS website. I tried to change my password and the website is not accepting the answer to the password hint.

I don't know my receipt number but when i put in my application number on USCIS website, all i get is initial review.

I'm confused. Is anyone having any troubles like this? It's been 5 months.....

    Any help is appreciated....

  2. Quickly....

I'll write a longer entry soon, but we JUST FOUND OUT... that Kyle's AOS application was approved and they have sent off for greencard production!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!

The IO wouldn't tell us at the interview.. he said he would review later today... I was nervous all day.. even had to take a nap because I had used up all my adrenalin but we just got a text... and YAY!!! Here's an image!!

Yay! Laura and kyle, i'm so happy for you.. I'm so happy you got approved.. It's such a relief to be done for the next year and 9months...

Hopefully, we will all be here again together working through our ROCs...

Well good luck to y'all and congrats again

  3. So i finally got my card in the mail yesterday.. yay! it took a while to get it because i had gone back to have them produce it in married name so they had to cancel the first production since i received the email stating production ordered.

So now i have my GC in my married name and can go remove the restrictions on my SS card.

More good news! I got a job offer yesterday too.. It was like a double whammy!

Thanks for all your support VJ!

  4. I just returned from my interview. It was... weird, but eventually successful. *phew*

Schedule for 10:35, we arrive at 10:15 but don't get called in before 11:30 or so. The officer is not really friendly but also not rude (We had a bit of a hard time understanding him since he was slurring somewhat). He lead us to his office and asks us to have a seat. He proceeded to inform us that this it his last interview for the day and he hopes to keep it short (at this point I think to myself that is a good sign). He looked at our file, and confirmed our address. He asks to see our DLs and passports, but never actually looks at the passports. He picks up the DLs and notices that the addresses on them are not updated. I inform him that the CA DMV does not issue a new DL in case of an address change, but he says that's not true (quote from DMV website: "A new driver license, identification card or registration card is not issued when changing your address."). At this point he remembers that he needs to swear us in and does so.

All in all, it was definitely a strange experience and quite different from what I had expected. But in the I'm just glad it's over, at least until 19 months from now. :)

    Hey Longey,

Congratulations on you approval... and the wait is over for another year and 9months.. yay!

  5. Hey VJ,

Today is a joyful and happy day.

We had our interview at 8am this morning. we got there at about 7.40am, went through security and were seated by 7.45. it wasn't as long as i thought it would be, just emptied out our pockets and scanned us.

we waited till about 8.34 and my husband got called in while i waited in the lobby. He came out 10 mins later and i got called in.

The interviewer swore me in and began rolling the video tape to record the session. he asked for my name and the interview began.

He asked where my husband worked, where i lived and if i worked. He also asked if i worked on OPT or had a prior EAD card. I said no that i worked on CPT and had graduated. He asked to see my diploma after that.

He then asked if i knew my husband's family, and if he knew mine. I said i knew his and have met them but my husband haven't met my family but talks to them on a regular basis. I also told him we were planning our traditional wedding in December and he seemed happy with that.

He asked what we did on Sunday and i told him we had my niece's christening and that i brought pictures with me.

He asked me if i had auto or health insurance with my husband, i answered yes but since i just got my driver's license, i hadn't been added to the auto insurance yet.

He asked what bank we used and i told. My husband already gave him the documents so i didn't really have to show anything to him except my I-20 and Diploma.

He then said, well my I-20 is now expired, so he would go ahead and approve my case...

    I was ecstatic. ....

He then asked for the pictures i brought with me. I had such a good time showing him the pictures. It was like a mini show and tell, it was fun.

Anyway, i just shook his hand and he showed me out.... He didn't stamp my passport or anything.

Since I was so happy, i didn't remember to ask him to print my Green card in my married name so as soon as i got out there i called the 1-800 number and they told me to schedule an infopass to talk to them before they print the Green Card cos it will cost money to change it if they send it out.

i went online to schedule an infopass for tomorrow to talk to them about printing it in my married name.

So overall, it was a good day and i'm happy we got approved for my Green Card...

Thanks a lot VJ for helping me through the process....

To those still waiting to hear any news or interview, i wish you best of luck..

Please make sure you read through the document i attached in an earlier post, that document helped a whole bunch....

  6. Hi.

I am an F-1 Student who got married in December to a US Citizen. We filed our I-130, I-485 and I-765 a few days ago and I have a few questions.

When I receive my EAD am I allowed to work full time whilst going to school?

    YES

Can I file for residency with my EAD for in-state tuition?

NO. You have to a permanent Resident or Citizen

Can I start a business with my EAD or do I have to wait until I get my greencard?

Not sure about this one, but maybe

Roughly how long is it taking for greencards to be issued under the category I fall under?

Mine is taking about 2 months about 2weeks now.. But normally could take btw 4-6 months. You might get lucky though

    Thanks for your help,

    Ben

    Good Luck!

  7. Congrats to everyone who has received their approvals for EAD and AP. I finally after 2 emails received my EAD on Saturday, 20th. SO been job searching ever since....

I was so upset when i went to the licensing office and they told me i couldn't get my driver's license in my married name even after providing them with the certified marriage certificate...

They said because my EAD was not in my married name.. thats just wrong.. Anyway, i went ahead just so i can have an identification card.

Anyway, so i have my interview next tuesday and absolutely nervous.. I feel like i'm going for this very huge examination.. lol!

Good luck to everyone that has an interview coming up this March and thereafter... I hope and pray we all get approved.

Anyway, i found this really cool document online that i believe will help everyone with their interview....

I hope it helps cos i think i'm learning a thing or two from it....

    Goodluck y'all

    InterviewFAQ.doc

  8. Weeeeee! FINALLY! Got the emails about my AP and EAD! On their way! Hoorah! At this rate I should be able to get our joint account open for our interview...

Whooo hoooo! !! :D Congrats on getting those emails... They sure are the best thing to get right now.. I received my AP in the mail today too and was totally ecstatic, unfortunately won't get to use it since interview is so close by....

Well, good luck to everyone of us and more patience to those still waiting for some news.....

  9. I-765, approved ..the Step was on the last: "Document production or Oath Ceremony"

And said something: Allow 30 days etc etc..probably for the work permit to be sent.

    That was 2 days ago.

Today, the Step went ONE step BACK to: "Post-Decision Activity" (Note, thats one step back, since the steps are:

    1. Acceptance

    2. Initial Review

    3. Request for Evidence

    4. Testing and Interview

    5. Decision

    6. Post-Decision Activity

    7. And the LAST step: Document production or Oath Ceremony

And it now also says instead of the allow 30 days, it says: "On February 18, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow any instructions on the notice"

What was wrong with that it was approved and it will be sent in 30 days? why did they change it? :/

I got the same email like 10mins ago...

I think now it really has been sent out.. Cos when i checked my AP status, it says the same thing but then i received it in the mail today....

    So i don't think it's anything bad.....

  10. I'd also throw in any emails/chat logs, letters, flight stubs/more phone bills if available from when you first got together from back as far as when you first got together. This could settle any queries they might have about your relationship being legitimate etc, especially if they could see how you've been together for a number of years.

I don't know the particulars of your relationship, or your husbands previous marriage but I am guessing if they did have any red flags regarding his first marriage and AOS application, it would depend on what ground it was denied back then, so if your husband can be honest with you about it, this might help to put your mind at rest.

We used a law firm to help with out initial filing and to raise some questions regarding our daughter, but they were so expensive I do not think we will ask them to come to our interview, but thats just me. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help!

    Thanks everyone for your response.....

the petition was denied based on them not having enough evidence to show proof of marriage as she moved to a different state because of her job...

After their second interview, more evidence was requested. It was after that the petition was denied...

She left the country when she heard her mother was sick, but all efforts to get in touch with her were fruitless, so hubby withdrew the petition instead of appealing and had a tough time trying to get a divorce from her since she was nowhere to be found... He had to get a divorce in absentia....

But, we have quite a few supporting documents, plus we've been living together for over 8months now. So i'm thinking if anything, we have enough evidence.. the only thing we don't have right now are affidavits from family... I will try to get in touch with a few of them to write some.. If not, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope our interviewer is calm enough at 8am in the morning since thats our interview time....

Thanks for all your responses though... Truly appreciate it....

  11. What kind of evidence do you have? This may help give you a better advice.

    Thanks for the response...

So far, we've got health insurance, i'm and excluded driver on the car insurance, i'm the beneficiary on his 401k, i'm on the lease, jointly filed taxes and a ton of family pictures and some from a few trips we've had... I've also got phone records for three months showing primarily his number when i call him at work.....

  12. Hello everyone,

I need your help cos i'm freaking out! :help:

Ok, so my husband has been married once before and filed AOS for his ex-wife.....

Unfortunately, or fortunately for me, their 2nd interview was denied in 2004 and the whole thing ended in a divorce.... Although he wasn't able to get a divorce until 2008 because she was nowhere to be found...

Well, i was talking to a friend of mine who was a bit concerned about my interview saying it might raise some red flags since my husband was previously married and filed for AOS

And since my interview is in 2weeks she suggested i get a lawyer...

Has anyone had the same experience and how did his/her interview go? plus did you get a lawyer?

Thanks for the information and help in advance....

  13. Thank you! It's such a weight lifted... Still can't believe it!

I really hope you hear from your service request soon. It really sucks you're having to renew your EAD and are still in limbo. Fingers crossed you get an answer very soon. :star:

    Hi Marie09,

    Happy belated birthday....

Congrats on getting your CGC.. I'm so glad you are done with this for another year and a few years....

I'm still waiting to hear some news about my EAD and AP so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.... i got my interview letter tho so thats good...

  14. Hi,

My wife and I are in the process of filing for AOS. She's a F1 holder in the US. I"m a USC.

She has changed her name on Social Security card and driver license after we received the marriage certificate.

We will file for AOS with her new name.

Any one knows if she has to update info on her F1 visa and I-20 (name change) too while the AOS case is pending?

    Thanks for your help.

You probably won't be able to change the Visa since it was issued in her country, but you can change the I-20..

Just contact the school with her marriage certificate and it would be updated....

    Good luck

  15. Hey y'all...

    Happy new year......

I'm finally able to come online after a few days of being away from home with no internet.. was unable to bear it.. :crying:

Well, i did a walk-in biometric appointment on the 31st at the ASC columbus, OH and it went relatively well....

I got there at about 8am and met only about 2 people on seat... I asked if i was able to get fingerprinted, the lady was so nice and said yes..

So all in all, i was in and out by 8:20am...

I'm glad this is out of the way.

Does anyone know how long after the biometrics you get the EAD and AP card? plus does the walk-in appointment change the processing date or do they still go by the original biometric appointment date?

Thanks y'all and good luck to us all

  16. Hey Mofope, Congrats on getting biometrics letter and NOA's - yay your case is finally moving! And congrats to everyone else with news too.

As for walk ins - almost all ASCs do it... I was unlucky mine was one of the few that didn't - but of November filers there were only 2 of us that couldn't do walk ins. Unfortunately there is noone you can call to check. I would do some searching on here to save yourself a wasted trip. You might want to look at the spreadsheets for November and october filers that Istanbulls and Greg created and see if your ASC is listed. The November link is: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0An...1tdlE&hl=en

I don't have the October one but you can find it in their thread. On the left it has the person's nearest office and on the far right it says if they did a walk in.

Good Luck to all you guys

    Hey Marie,

unfortunately, the Columbus ASC is not listed on the spreadsheet but I'll go there and hope they let me do it.... Will definitely keep you posted
