About the only 2 ways to lose US citizenship are:
1. Fight in someone else's war.
2. "Officially" renounce it.
I have heard of a third.
3. You can be stripped of your citizenship if you committed Marriage fraud.
There has been cases were people married for GC but werent detected until they were USC they were followed up by USCIS and later stripped.
-
I just wanted to add
Regarding moving there( dont know which country) and get that countries citizenship, I would be very careful. Not all countries in the world allow dual(2) citizenships so you have to know beforehand if that country will allow you to do so. If the law of the new land doesnt allow you then DONOT revoke your american citizenship Instead apply for the special visa/ permanent resident of a spouse of that country. It is not worth it. Your american citizenship can protect you in cases of war or other problems when you are abroad. And also, offer protection to your children...that is when you decide to have them.
Before you make any decision read about the immigration requirements of that country and how will you be protected. And if you still are not sure try to have a consultation with a lawyer about migrating to that country to give you advice. Beware of travelling abroad and marrying a man in a different country sometimes you can get into alot of problems. Best of luck.

There has been a question among my family, and everyone thinks they are right... and im wondering if anyone has the answer...
Me, being a american born citizen, moves to another country to gat married. Just temporarily. Im doing this in the even that our k1 did not happen, or if he was in AP for too long. Then I will fly over there and marry and come back here later apon approval of that.
Question; If I do this, move there, get married, took citizenship, will I be able to come back home to my own country, united states? Because I was born here i can never lose citizenship here correct?
And by me just marrying there does not make me lose citizen ship here.
Family members are under the impression if I move over there to wait this out with him, or marry over there, or take citizenship there, that I willnever be able to come back home bc I will lose my citizenship here. Thanksssss!!!
As far as I know Karima you do not lose your US citizenship by marrying a non american or by living overseas. The most important thing is when you decide to live abroad you have to register with the US Consulate in that country. And you also get to do your civic duty like you keep voting. The consulate usually gives you advice and assistance how to adopt to your new country, the laws of the land and emergency numbers. On the consulate website they have a section for CITIZEN SERVICES they also provide information on the culture, marriage laws etc. So they kinda help you with living safely. If you have decided which country you want to move to you can search now and get to know this information. http://www.usembassy.gov/.
Most of the information you mentioned applies to permanent resident they have to have continuous residency in US, pay taxes etc. Once you get citizenship the laws are a bit lenient.
Best of luck.

Im sorry to hear of the RFE. I would advice you to look at forum members timeline's a good number of people have sent in RFE documents and noted down the date sent and the NOA's sent out from USCIS.
-
As far as I know the second dose isnt a requirement. I know a number of people who havent taken the second dose and got their GC's, USC approved. The second dose should be done for your own health and consciousness.

Guys check this out -- I called USCIS and before I got to talk to a representative, the automated machine said that they mailed out something to me on novermber 27, 2009 but it was undeliverable so it was sent back to the post office. So then i got transferred to a representative and he asked for my I485 receipt number so then I gave it to him. Then i asked what it is that mailed out to me on Nov 27, 2009.. so he said okay and puts me on hold.. He got back on the phone and said "okay sir we haven't sent anything to you since your biometric letter and i know you've already done your biometric appointment so you don't need to worry. next thing you will receive is your EAD card which you will get in the mail, THE LATEST IS JANUARY."
hhmmm. really? I didn't wanna ask why January because I didn't wanna look like i'm in a hurry. Sucks for me I have to wait another month to receive the EAD card. hopefully I get the approval soon though.
Btw, on my case status online, the last update was Nov 16, 2009 which was 3 days after my biometric appointment.
you should call back and give your receipt number for i765 the employment. When I called about my biometrics they asked for my 485 receipt number and said that they had not sent anything to me (at the time I was waiting for biometrics) I then called back and this time gave my I 765 receipt number and was told my biometrics was mailed out. Just a thought.
Well I did give them a call back and they told me the same thing.. I will receive my EAD throughout January.
I am hoping they just gave you an "estimated" date to play it safe. Honestly speaking being in the dark till january feels like eternity. I have interviews scheduled in january as I anticipated by then will have my EAD in hand and get my DL renewed. This news is a wake up call!!
-
Congratulations to all those who have received their approvals, EAD's and Interview dates. That's really great news!!!
And my fingers are crossed to the rest of us, who are patiently waiting.
-
should i be worried..there are no touches for my AP and EAD...
and i had my bio last nov 18 but no more updates anymore and i can see in the timeliness from others, they have their EAD and AP already..how sad
Hey mhaze, You shouldn't be worried. i did my biometrics on nov 13 and still now i haven't got my EAD card. were almost in the same situation. waiting and waiting.... Lets just hope this week will be good to us.
yeah i hope so..
we dont have any choice but just to wait...
Same sentiments had my walk-in FP Nov3rd
Nothing in the mail today... will see what happens this week.
the waiting is making me anxious.

BTW, Greg that is such bummer about what happened at DMV. I didnt even know they could do that. Seems like same name and same b-day wouldnt be so unheard of that they dont have some sort of protocol for this (I found someone on facebook with my same name and birthday AND we went to the same University!) So what has to be done to release the license? That doesn't seem fair. Good luck with that and keep us posted. My husband is going to take the test in English tomorrow.
nite nite everyone, I actually have to go to work tomorrow (booooo) after a nice week long rest.
Hi TchauEUA, I guess when you get a DL they check a nationwide database to see if there is a hold on a DL in another state for that person. We got it cleared up today. Just an error made by our local DMV. So, my wife received her DL today. Actually a permit. She'll take the road test in two weeks. Good luck to your husband on his test today.
@ savaleta, congrats on the interview appointment!
@ Infantry Grunt, you wife can apply for her SSN card once she receives her EAD. She will need the SSN to obtain a job, get a bank account, or file a tax return. Congrats on the interview appointment. Hopefully you'll have the GC soon too!
Greg
Congratulations Greg for getting the DL out of the way.

Hey guys
We are october filers as well. I have a question, wife recieved her notice for her interview, and notice of card production for EAD card. What happens when she gets her EAD?
She never got an ssn card, should she go do that or does she not need it?
Thats great news, Infantry Grunt. Once she gets her EAD card via mail then she can apply for the SSN and also if needed have her driver's license changed.
-
I have it sorted by NOA receipt notice date since that is when USCIS first entered it into their system.
Thanks for the tip on downloading and twicking it the way I want. But after reading your explaination I will be following it your way, it makes more sense
. Thanks again Greg.
Have a great weekend.

Greg001,
Just went through the october spread sheet.Great work!! It answered most of my questions. Thank you.. Is there any chance to rearrange the whole spreadsheet by date(column D) earliest to apply to the last applicant. I noticed I can only view it.
