  1. Hey everyone new here need advice.Met My girlfriend about 4 months ago and we will start the process very soon. She is going to school in Dublin and been living there for almost three years. We met online and then met in person in Dublin.Talk everyday through IM and video chat.not much phone calls.Been to see her in Dublin 2times and just got back from Thailand with her to see her family and hometown.Going back to Dublin at the end of nov and then again at Christmas. Her visa will be up soon for Ireland and we didnt know the wisdom of her staying or going back to Thailand. We didnt know if any of that is relevant to the k1 process.been saving IMs and all pictures and plane tickets hotels etc.Any advice?reading all of this seems like the process is pretty stressful.and tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

It won't matter whether your girlfriend is in Thailand or Dublin until her visa interview, which if you apply soon is still about five months away at least. You can go ahead and begin the process by filing a I-129F. She will need to send or give you a couple things, such as her passport-sized photo and letter stating her intention to marry, but presumably this could be done from Dublin or Thailand.

  2. we are currently about to send out iv-15 check list back to the embassy in london and noticed if over 4 months has passed we need notarized letters of intent to marry. where in the Uk are we able to get these letters notarized? we are both currently living in Northern Ireland...

    Hey Lirwin -

My fiance is also from Belfast, good to meet another! You can get your letters notarized at most banks.

  3. When filing out the I-129F form, it asks for question number 10 to provide the US citiens birth certficate number, issue date and city/state of issue.

my partners birth cert was issued in NJ in 1981, there is no birth certificate number on it (it is the original). We have looked front and back.

    What should we do?

We rang the USCIS customer service they said that they dont have any information to provide us!

Steve and Amara - I am having the same problem with my own birth certificate, also from NJ in the early 80's. I've already sent my I-129F form, and I just wrote "no number" in question 10. Did you ever run into problems over this, or did your process go smoothly?

    Thank you.
