The OP appears to be a long-time VJ member. He's had plenty of response to consider. Let's let him come back before accusing him of anything or repeating advice already given.

Wangari Maathai, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, said "The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now." Yes, azar has been on here for close to four years. And he and Marivel have been living together for about a year and a half. But I don't see any posts before this one! Waiting until things are bad enough (or seem so after a few drinks, perhaps) to make one post this sort of rant is obviously far less desirable than seeking advice much earlier. But at least he's asked now - better late than never.
Second, I am sure there are plenty of us on here who - especially early on - had days whether both partners thought "my god, what have I gotten myself into?!" Our previous lives on opposite sides of the world (or whatever) didn't really give us the time to get to know each other, each other's cultures, and each other's surroundings, all that well. Sometimes the process is delayed a couple months, as it was for azar - and for us. I certainly remember some conversations along the lines of "well, yes, you told me what your life was like, in detail, but I didn't think you were serious." It can take a lot of time to really sort things out. If the first six months were okay, then the next six months were worse, and the six months after that even worse, then things may not be going in the right direction. But if things are gradually improving, I'd say work at it.Finally, if you are going to work at it, instead of lawyering up, seek advice or counsel, not just on here, but from marriage and family counselors, therapists, priests, other people you know who've been married a long time, etc. -
We are also planning to file this month - just waiting for payday from one job or another.

When I went to the Passport Agency, it happened to be Passport Day, so I didn't need an appointment. Passport agencies usually operate by appointment only and if you have travel plans within a couple of weeks.
Hopefully you won't have any issues at the courthouse.
There's a "Passport Day" now? When is it? Why don't we get off work for it?

Glad to hear a few more folks got approved! I hope the ones we still don't have updates on all got approved too, and were just so happy they totally forgot to even update their timelines.

I believe this entire thread is for people to convert their two year green card to a ten year green card (and other threads like this). You can enter the U.S. and receive a ten year green card if you have been married for two years at the time you apply for the visa. I haven't looked at the N-400 form in a while, but I believe Shikha can apply for citizenship next year. We'll do some more research into that next year (and probably post questions here if we have any).
Once again, for someone like us where Shikha applied for entry after being married less than two years, once entering the U.S. you are issued a two year green card. Hope this helps.
Thanks - that does indeed clear things up nicely for me. What actually confused me was - of all things! - your use of the phrase "as soon as possible." I knew in our own case, we have to wait until 3 years after the date the original green card was issued (which means next May) and was wondering whether you were somehow getting to apply right now or something.

We went to Las Vegas with the in-laws for the weekend and we received the green card while we were gone. We're going with 9/14/2013 for the date we received the green card. We will file for citizenship as soon as possible now!
I'm a little confused, even after reading your timeline - is this a 2-year green card, or renewing from a 2-year to a 10-year, or a 10-year straight out of the gate due to how long you've been married? Ours was a fiancée visa, which has different requirements, and I think the timeline for naturalization also varies greatly depending on circumstances.

We're beyond the K-1 at this point, but CSC just approved an I-751, so they're evidently not all just hanging around playing Twister.

Every year around July 4, the news shows people taking the oath of citizenship at patriotic places - in Honolulu, for example, it's done on the deck of the battleship USS Missouri, in Pearl Harbor! (The same thing is done on the USS New Jersey, across the river from Philadelphia.)
My wife's GC renewal/removal of conditions has just been approved (yay!) so come May of 2014, she'll be eligible to file the N-400. Which means it's now time for me to wonder... just how do those people get selected to take their oath on a battleship?
Is it just luck of the draw based on the timing of when they're approved? Or have they appealed to their local politicians in some way to be included?
Just wondering.

Well, the I-751 approval came, from CSC. So if they did offload any work to VSC, maybe it was just scheduling biometrics for people in Hawaii.

If the doctor does not require further tests after your exam, you will be given your CXR film and vaccination
certificate on the same day while your medical report (DS forms) will be sent to the embassy the followingday. In the event if further tests are required, the doctors will advice you when to collect your CXR film andvaccination certificateThis sounds about right. My wife had a scar on her chest X-ray from a childhood injury, and IOM required a TB test with an 8-week culture time - much to our dismay! But I think that's fairly uncommon.

Approval letter came - approval date of 07/16/13, mailed 07/17/13. Looks like the CSC managed to approve ANDY_ROB and us in a single day - they must have been working very hard! And we know from experience that the card coming "within 60 days" usually means "within a week or so."To put this date in context, 7/15/10 was our Kuhingira, the traditional Ugandan cultural ceremony where UG's family gave her to HI's family, and 7/17/10 was our church wedding in Uganda (our civil wedding in the US wasn't until 11/21/10 or thereabouts) - so they actually mailed this while we were at a nice oceanfront resort with our 18-month-old, celebrating our third anniversary. A nice anniversary present from the government!
Updated the table, including the CSC approval count and percentage. Looking forward to the N-400 next year!

Interesting to see that a few of us either haven't had, or haven't remembered to report, biometrics. Other than that, we're all just watching that last column to start showing anyone getting approved.

I'm not sure why volkan is even posting in this thread, since his timeline makes it obvious he's an April 2013 filer and on the last day of the month, at that.
Anyway, it's entirely logical that it would be quiet in here - by now we've got our NOA1s, had our biometrics appointments, and are just hanging around waiting for approval.

I'm a bit confused - we're in CSC turf and filed an I-751 through CSC. Didn't look to see who the NOA1 was from, and now I'm at work and don't have it handy. Anyway, the biometrics appointment letter came today - from VSC! So is CSC offloading some work to VSC as well, without telling anyone?

Actually, I think the update didn't quite work - I notice there's not even a line in the table for the I-751, which I'm pretty sure the CSC does process.
I dropped their webmaster a note and suggested they check the update.

Oath ceremony in 15 minutes.
Expecting her back in a smidge over 5 hours, if not sooner.
(Honolulu field office does things a bit differently, because people are having to fly in from other islands at no small expense. Instead of having you fly (and pay) once for the interview and once for the oath, they do interviews first thing in the morning; if you get a positive result (as shown on N-652), you then wait with other interviewees for a bit while they finalize approval, then are given N-445 telling you to report back after lunch for the oath.)

NOA: Date you received the official I-797 notification in the mail about case acceptance
Fprints: Date assigned for fingerprinting
In Line: Date you received e-notification about your interview date
Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview
Intview: Date of your interview
Oath: Date Oath taken
Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you would be doing the N-400 interview
