Aww very sweet, Tam!
I met my husband in a very similar way. That was 5 yrs ago this past Sept.
Wot? And you didn't tell us?
Happy Anniversary! Have a great time with the husband!
Happy Friday all.Sweet story Tamera. You know, I don't even remember when I met my husband, the first time we talked, when he asked me to marry him, etc.....Ah yes...true love.
But it was our 5 year anniversary yesterday, so we are going out tonight to celebrate.

My husband wore business casual. Khaki type pants and a button down shirt and dressier shoes ie not sneakers. For our AOS interview we both wore a similar style of clothing.

Many places in Egypt don't use postal codes. I left that part blank on our apps. Some places don't even use proper addresses. My husband's address in Egypt doesn't have a number just a name of the building he lived in and his street name plus the name of his neighborhood and his city and province.
You should come check out the MENA forum. It's a great place to have Egypt specific questions answered.
thx u so much , i appreciate u , thxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -
You can tell she's in a panic. Poor thing. I have no idea about her situation. I'm sure someone will be able to help her.

You had to have an interview for the I130 even though your husband came in on a K3? I had no idea that was a possibility. That grilling happened at the Detroit field office???? Holy #######! That's a horrible experience, I'm sorry you guys had to go through that. Luckily our I130 got approved about the same time as the I129. Phew.
We had Officer Wong, a female, for our AOS at the Detroit office. I was so nervous but I was pleasantly surprised that she was so cool. She was a younger woman who had pics of her kids all over her desk, I had a good feeling she was gonna be cool right away. We didn't have an updated physical done so she kept our case open and told us if we got the physical done within two weeks we would be approved as soon as they got it back. We went the same day to get the physical and went back two days later to get the missing immunization. Interview was on July 17, 2008, we mailed back the physical and blood test results the following Monday which was July 21. By the following Monday we got the e-mail notice from USCIS and by the end of the week the PR card showed up. I was shocked at the speed considering how long it took for the visa. We filed AOS in April 2008 and were finished by end of July 2008.
My husband came over on a K3, our I130 was still pending at the time so we were the lucky ones that got to have both interviews ( I130 & AOS)For the I130 interview, as we sat down, the gal was positioning the video camera
i said wow you're going to record this?Oh yeah, we record everything. I'm like great, i'm already nervous, now i have a cam pointing right at me, this just adds to my nervousness. I felt like we are on Dateline or something. She interviewed us shortly together and then we were separated. She asked questions about our home, how many bedrooms, how many windows, do we have a garbage disposal and asked the name of my kids' teachers and the name of their schools. There were more questions but those ones stuck more out with me. At our AOS, we were waiting out in the area and we would see the agents call out peoples names but there was this one guy in particular that looked like he had a stick up his A$$ and that was out to get everybody, i said, oh please don't let us get him anybody but him, and guess what, we got him! I couldn't believe it. He was very formal and he just went over the AOS application and did that line of questioning about being a spy, terrorist, etc. and that was it. The funny thing was that we were hoping for this one agent to get cuz she looked very nice and sweet, we overheard her during our interview drilling this other couple, she was nasty with them! I looked at the guy that was interviewing us and said, i'm glad we got you and oh my, he actually smiled and said well everything looks good here, you should receive your approval notice within 30 days.
It's been nice to have USCIS out of hair but we will be dealing with them again when my husband goes for his citizenship.

Do they even ask the toothbrush question at AOS interviews? Or is that a myth?
We were asked if we were still married and he was asked some of the questions on the app...are you a spy? are you involved in a terrorist organization? Etc. We both laughed along with the officer at those questions.
Ally, did you go site seeing on your first trip to Jordan? Do you have any pics from that time you could have Moh show at the next interview?
Honestly, I'd be royally pizzed if my husband didn't have the courtesy to take time off work and show me the sites while in Egypt. Sure there are more things than behaving like a tourist like visiting family and friends and getting to know how real life goes in his country. I saw tourist attractions and did lots of shopping and walking around with my husband and sister in laws but I didn't feel like a tourist. I felt like I was living a short time of my life like one of the family. I stayed in their home, I cooked with them, I ate with them, I watched TV and sat around joking with them. It was wonderful and I would be upset if I would've missed out on it. About privacy, when we wanted it, we got it. Do you think that real Jordanians don't go to tourist spots? I'm sorry but I feel like you're being jipped out of a wonderful experience. I think your husband is doing a great disservice to you by not letting you see his country. Most men would be proud to take their wives out to see all the sites their country has to offer.
-
Oh yeah those would be great places for photo ops! Those would be good photos to have at the interview.
-
I don't recall Egypt letting anyones' spouse come and stand at the window. Wonder if any of our Jordan gals can say if they've been able to "attend" an interview. I suppose the husband could mention the wife is there with him. I have heard of them looking at the wife's passport to prove that she is there with him. Still, would that disprove a prior accusation of fraud? IDK. I think the CO's know that getting married fraudulently is just as easy as being engaged fraudulently.
-
Will there be pics of the family to show the CO? You showing up at the interview is fine but that alone may not be convincing enough. Esp since they don't sit you both down in a room and observe. He still will be interviewed alone. If it's anything like Egypt they do it through a bank teller type window and the CO is behind glass.
-
Ah I didn't realize they've been married so long. But I stand by my advice for those who do decide to go the K3 route and haven't been married as long. If my husband and I had filed for AOS when he first arrived we may have had to do lifting of conditions later on, if AOS was approved prior to our 2 year anni. Paying the extra money for a seperate EAD was worth it for us in our situation.
BTW, I wouldn't advise anyone to go K3 but if they do...
-
Ah ok, that still will not sit well when officers (hypothetically) show up at the door. But if they're ok with him going to the US and why wouldn't they since they could possibly benefit they could always fake a "blessing".
I think something was said in a post about the family not being informed of this marriage. Is this still the case? How well do you think that would go if a home visit did occur?I think they know, but they havent "blessed" it so to speak. That was my impression.

Oh and God forbid he get the same CO which could happen. Whoa.
-
Oh definitely. I forgot to mention the EAD, thanks! Yeah the EAD is most important in the beginning. We filed that one within a couple weeks of my husband's arrival. It look like 3 months to be approved. That wait was difficult for both of us.
Don't do AOS right away unless you've been married two years or close to it when he arrives. The visa is good for two years like others have said. My husband came here on a K3 and we waited a year to file. He got his 10 year green card because we were married 2.5 years by then. That saved us time and money. Plus he was able to pay for AOS himself. And the best part...no lifting conditions...woot!we were planning on doing the aos as soon as he arrives here in usa, but when does k3 expire, i didnt mean to sound like an idiot, just been awake all night.Yep, we're planning the same thing. You will have to file a stand alone EAD application as soon as he gets here, but he should have his card in around 3 months and then be able to work.

Mods/organizers...maybe this should be moved to the K3 forum?

Like others have said, you should hear something soon. Honestly, for Cairo, you're right on target or perhaps a tad over. Our case took 4 months post interview to get the visa. We've had some Cairo people wait a year or more after the interview to receive the visa. This is after home visits and second interviews. I believe if they were to send the case back to the US they would've done so by now. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that if they intend to do that they do it fairly quickly.
So to answer your question, no I don't *think* they will send it back.

Thanks! Yeah I'm a little rusty with the info. I had no idea. Interesting. Man I feel bad for the OP.
She's been married less than two years so it sounds like he's only got his conditional GC. Wouldn't her sponsorship end once this GC expires? The sponsorship doesn't end until one of the events I outlined in my previous post occurs:
- He accumulates 40 quarters (10 years) of Social Security work credits.
- He becomes a US citizen.
- He loses his legal residency and leaves the US.
- He dies.
- The sponsor who signed the I-864 dies.
Getting his unconditional green card will not end the sponsorship. If he stays in the US and maintains his LPR status (never becomes a US citizen), and never accumulates 40 quarters of work credits, then the sponsorship could conceivably last for the rest of her life (unless he dies first).

Cool, thanks!
Yeah I was curious that things have changed in such a short time. I didn't include anything because #1 it wasn't on the instructions (haha) and #2 I didn't want to bog down the package with proofs. I can see how some would want to do that. It didn't make a difference for us.
This is just out of pure curiosity...did things change in filing since '06? I mean when I filed a K3 I didn't send any proofs of relationship with the application. Is this required now? Husband just brought proofs to the interview and really not that many. No chat logs at all. A handful of e-mails that weren't looked at and a small photo album. Its not a requirment, but sometimes its a good idea to frontload the petition which allows the CO to see proof before even setting eyes on the applicant.

Butterfly poop anyone??

Yes and not one acknowledgement. The advice was helpful and written in a "nice" way. Not one thank you. Typical MO with MW.

I was sent this sort of e-mail a few times. It's basically a "don't call us, we'll call you" type of thing. All you can do it wait. The CO told my husband two weeks as well. We waited 4 months. Not saying your daughter will wait that long but generally the CO doesn't know exactly when the visa will be issued. They give out a general answer of two weeks or so.

I agree with others. K3 sucks.
