  1. When we went to the dmv they refused to renew her drivers license as she did not have the physical green card. When I called they stated that a i757 was enough but the problem is that the form didn't have a expiration nor a issued date. It just said that her greencard was approved. We will try again with the police report but if they end up giving us a hard time about it we may have to consult a lawyer for further advice

Have you tried renewing it online?

  2. After a long wait, my father is finally scheduled to take oath at the District court in Islip, NY (100 Federal Plaza). I have a few questions for those of you who has experience.

    1. Early arrival - Any benefit to arriving early? Reporting time is 8:30am

    2. Taking pictures: Are cameras or cellphones allowed inside the building? If not, what options are available?

    3. Passport application: I understand there is a USPS office inside the building. Does it get crowded with everyone applying at the same time? Would you recommend a different location?

    Any other tips?

    Thank you.

  3. I am with you :) Do make infopass appointment for follow-up right after 5 months gets over (in case your field office is Chicago). They should be able to provide updates in detail.

    Thanks for the support.

I did a "missing notices" inquiry online beginning of May (it won't let me do "outside processing time" inquiry) and got a letter nearly a month later saying they received the FP and the regret that it's taking so long due to "circumstances unrelated to your case".

    Hopefully something soon.

  4. Hi guys,

i had my interview on May 20th. it was scheduled for 1:20pm in NYC office, i arrived at around 1:00 pm. i was called in at 1:45pm. the IO took me to his office and i made a sworn statement. after that i had my reading test - What is the biggest city?, after there was a writing test - We have one hundred Senators. then i was asked civics questions, i answered first 6. here are those questions.

    1. Where is the Statue of Liberty?

    2. How is the governor if your state?

    3. what is one promise you make when you become a United State citizen?

    4. Who was the first president?

    5. What movement tried to end racial discrimination?

    6. Name two national US holidays.

once he was done with those questions, he went over my N-400. everything was ok, but the only thing that i didn't submit with my N-400 was my marriage certificate. my N-400 was on based of 5 years, so i did not know that i need to submit a copy of my marriage license. the IO asked me a copy of it, but i did not have it on me.

the officer told me that the decision could not be made yet and requested a copy of my marriage certificate, other than that everything was ok. so i wend home and sent the copy the same day with express mail. they got it next day. now i am waiting for any updates. i hope i will get an approval shortly.

thank you everybody for their stories and good luck to those who are waiting for their interviews. just my advise, bring everything to your interview even those docs you think you don't need, be on a safe side.

    i will keep you posted

    Congrats!!!

Looks like you used express mail/courier to send your application to Lewisville, TX office, instead of the regular Dallas, TX office. I wonder if that had anything to do with you case being processed so quickly. As of the most recent processing dates, NYC office is processing August 14 N400 applications.

  5. What's up guys!!

So, my father filed N400 with a fee waiver mid January. Feb 3, the waiver was approved and on the 4th we got an email notifying us. The online status says "Fees are waived" and this :On February 3, 2015, we received your case and waived the filing fee for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*xxxxxxxxx. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by March 5, 2015, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Few days later, we got the I-797, followed by fingerprint appt letter. Appointment was at the end of February.

My father got fingerprinted on the day of the appointment. But since then - nearly two months have gone by, and nothing, no communication at all. Even the online status is unchanged and still shows the same "Fees are waived" message.

We called USCIS and the customer service basically just read us the same text from the online status and said that was the most recent info she had. We told her how could that be since my father had already received the fingerprint appt letter and completed fingerprinting also - she said "that's good, I would be worried if that much time had passed and I didn't get the interview letter" - #######.

Is there anything you guys suggest I should do? Btw, the application was sent to TX service center.

  6. What is the issue here? OP married her husband and now is living together. What more do we need to know?

OP, don't waste your money on lawyers. Just file as if you are just anohter couple and go through the process. Inlcude ton and tons of proof to show you two are a bona fide couple. You said he is your very good friend, I am assuming you've known him for some time - inlcude pics from the time before your marriage also.

This is a straight-forward case. I don't know why people are trying to scare you into getting a lawyer.

  7. Congratulations!! ?

Congratulations!! Wow 10months? He applied for spouse visa? If yes then is his wife a us citizen?

    Thanks guys.

Tuhii, my brother applied under F2A, my mother (LPR) petitioned him. His PD became current once (also had interview) before, but due to retrogression he had to wait until his PD was current again. Total time was 3.5 yrs, 10 months in AP. He is already in the US and enjoying it.

  8. Congratulations :D @ Export to Dhaka

my husband had his CR1 visa interview at US Embassy in London on Oct 04, 2012 and he has been n AP since than. now he is planning to go back to Bangladesh so unfortunately he has to transfer his case to the US embassy in Bangladesh.

so the question is do u think it will be a bad idea? do u think it will take extremely more time to process his visa? :(

    Thanks.

I have no idea as to how switching consulates will impact AP. But if I were to make an educated guess - transferring papers and the process to a new consulate most likely will add some time.

  9. hello there, bor & bou

Thy could ask new police report about trips in london...... i think you could read other posts about making trip after being held in AP could help you if you really wanna travel abroad.

    Hope this helps!!!

Police report for taking a trip??? Please, don't scare people on purpose. Police reports are requested only if it was a place of residence for at least 6 months (may be 3 months now, I haven't checked) - not for trips.

  10. Hi,

My husband is in AP and his interview was on Nov 12, 2012.

Do you know if he applies for a UK visa now while he's in AP, will it mess up his case at the US Embassy? We were thinking of meeting half way in London. And he even has his passport, because the consulate officer gave it back on his interview but kept everything else!

    Thank you.

He is free to apply for visas anywhere - it won't impact AP.

I am surprised that the officer didn't keep his passport.
