  1. The letter bank will issue to the Embassy will not have every deposit you have done during the term of the account. The letter will have your deposit amount and the age of your account address to the embassy in [country]. You need to speak with the CS or Bank Manager you need a letter and they are required by law to provide it.

If you need a history of deposit and transactions, you must attached bank statements, 6 month at least recommended [that was the advise from my attorney].

Now, in my case, my bank mail the letter directly to the embassy.. and i got a copy in the mail [originals].

    Hope this help, Good Luck

  2. Not Sure if in Mexico will work the same but my case worked this way:

When we received confirmation form USCIS that our case was sent to NVC, we got on the phone and started contacting them. Very early in the morning is the best time.. Then we received a second memo with our new case number [RDJ # - for Rio de Janeiro], this was my fiancée’s case number that embassy will use for the interview.

Generally, when embassy receives the package from NVC with your case then they start the paperwork and mail you a package 3 [just a letter information you they received the approval from NVC]. Then they sent package 4 [is all politics, if you ask me].. BUT, since we had the new case #, my fiancée email the embassy asking for update on our case.. the first time, they said, we don’t have anything yet.. Two days letter my fiancée email again the embassy and they reply the very next day advising us with the date of the interview.

We skipped some good steps just for being persistent..

    Good luck

  3. Your interview date has been set as stated on email from the embassy. Now is time for your to prepare all the documents and forms DS, FS, and all the required paperwork and document the consul will require from you. Dont sent them, you will present them to the embassy the day of your interview. Make sure your fiance[e] sents you all the documents required by him such us affidavit of support, incomtax returns with w2 form, letter of intent to marry, empolyment verification letter, bank letter showing savings and history, and any other pertenant document that i may not remember right now..

Visit the emabassy website and get a list of all the documents required for your interview.

    Good luck

  4. I am using an attorney here in NY, not complaining what the firm has done. They have been responsible and responsive to all my questions on time.. Now that I am almost done with the process found it to be very easy, but of course because several sources but dont regret hiring a firm to so my original filings..

If you think is best for you, and will bring you peace of mind regardless of the expense, then hire a firm that will take over your worries and give you a "professional" assistant.

    Best of luck

  5. Some of the experiences during interview at Rio: All interviews are scheduled for 7:45 AM, expect a very long day and bring snacks as you may not be able to leave the embassy for lunch.

Arrive Early ask for guidance of the correct line/interview are for K-1 appointments. You will be directed to the second floor.. You will be seated in a room and someone will be handling a list with the order of documents to be presented and a form to fill out with the address and telephone number in Rio, your home address email and telephone and your fiance’s telephone number.

After your documents and forms are in order, the lady asks to sign DS 156 and DS 230. Then people starts being called by name and you go to the table and present your documents.. She reviews all the forms and staple them as required and needed. Then you will wait to see the consul.. it will take some time so be patient, have something to read.. You will be given a number and will be displayed and is your turn to be interview. I don’t think is an specific order # to be called..

Will enter a room and may find two consuls reviewing your file. Some people say, your case have been approved even before you enter the room, but don’t under estimate or over estimate the interview. Be prepare and ready to answer with all truth and honesty. If your fiancé[e] is with you, will be up to the consul to interview you individually or together. Have been cases where you will be separated and interviewed individually, be prepared. If you fiancé[e] is not with you, may be a chance he/she will get a call from the embassy, make sure he/she is available and ready to answer the phone the day of your interview.

Consul will ask if you speak English, if you do is at his/her discretion to conduct the interview in English but you can request to be in Portuguese. Make sure you are polite..

You will be asked to sign the 156K form and then will start asking questions.. I don’t have the exact order of questions but the consul will be looking at you perhaps looking for things out of the normal whether you are lying or saying the trust so be confident and honest.

    Questions:

How long have you been together?

    How did you meet?

Since the relationship began, how many times have you met in person?

When did he asked you to marry him/her?

    How did he propose?

    Were you surprise?

    How did you react?

    Did you cry?

When did you and him told your parents?

What did your parents think about your relationship?

Do they agreed and support you?

You may be asked the same questions in different ways, Don’t forget these people are there looking to make sure your relationship is pure and honest. Don’t walk in that room over confident thinking you are approved.

If everything goes in order, you will be out of there in no time.. If you case takes a long, don’t lose confident they are working to get all things in place and maybe necessary for more questions. Don’t Break stat positive. Have copies of your emails, correspondence, telephone logs, pictures, cards ready to show your legitimate commitment however, you may not need it or even ask, but have it ready.

Some interviews may last 5 minutes hours. Be mentally prepared.

Hope this help as it helping my fiancée and I.

  6. Dan, if you and your fiancee have complied with the 90 requirements and you have processed the adjustment of status, she is consider to be a legal immigrant, able to work as long as you/her submitted I-765-working permit, I am assuming she received a SS Card.. She is able to attend school, you will need to see school guidelines..

  7. Thank you all for your support and information. I have forwarded the information to my fiancée for her own edification and peace of mind. I have also open another topic that regards to K journey and feedback, assistance/help for those still in the process. If you have experience or in the process of a K1 in Rio de Janeiro and wish to post your advice, experience or looking for someone’s assistance feel free to droop your notes.

    Be Blessed,

    V.P.

  8. Since my fiancée and I have been and still are pretty anxious about the process during our K1 term, Would like to use this section to share our journey hoping will assist other K1/K3 cases schedule to interview in Rio de Janeiro.

So far we have heard different feedbacks regarding interview results, of course what we read and hear varies according to each case, circumstances, history and end result. Understanding, each case will be different and let’s try not to be bios but try to help giving your feedback that brings peace of mind to those that are in same case/situation.

We have been hearing [from other peoples experiences, GOOD, BAD, SAD and TROUBLING RESULTS] that embassy workers in Rio de Janeiro are not all very nice as we would like them to be [but they are doing their job, regardless of their attitude]. Of course, let’s not jump into conclusions but let’s analyze cases if necessary.. Let’s see beyond attitudes..

Our Journey has been as follow:

    June 16, 2009 - Applications to USCIS - Vermont

    June 22, 2009 - Confirmation of Receiving Submission I-129F – NOA1

    September 18, 2009 - Post-Decision approving I-129F – NOA2

    September 26, 2009 - New RDJ Case # Issued

October 5, 2009 - Email Request for Interview to Embassy

October 6, 2009 – Embassy advised date of interview for November, 2009

    Waiting, Waiting, Waiting..

  9. My experience..

My fiancée’s name was written incorrect in all papers.. yes, a big oversight, but when was not as big as we thought. I contacted the USCIS, they did nothing and won’t do anything as is already out of their jurisdiction. However, my fiancée contacted the US Embassy [in Brazil], and they wrote back to her saying not to worry, to complete all her new forms DS, FS the correct way and to make sure everything is according to her passport.

This is not the first time and will not be the last, we oversee things and the USCIS make mistakes as well.. But the documents that matters for the fiancé[e] abroad is the correct DS, FS forms that match their passport.

    Hope this help

  10. DREW.

All K1 visas are process in Rio, I didn't have an option when completing my forms.

This may help you with the process ---

My fiancee's process is as follow:

I submitted petition I-129F [uSCIS] on June 16, 2009 received confirmation from USCIS on June 22nd. 3 months later received the approval from NVC informing me that case will be fowarded to Rio de Janeiro.. Now, this is the trick here and we learned this with my fiancee..

The NVC is going to issue a new case number starting with RDJ which is your new case ID for your interview. If you have this case you can skip the process/mailing of your package 3 and 4.. Simple to do..

You call NVC and request to get your RDJ #, if you already have it then sent an email to the embassy in rio ImmigrationRio@state.gov with the following information..

    Boa Noite,

GOSTARIA DE SABER A DATA DA MINHA ENTREVISTA NO RIO DE JANEIRO:

    PETICIONARIO: XXXXXX- DOB

    BENEFICIARIO: XXXXXX- DOB

    PROCESSO APROVADO: DATE - Vermont

    CASE NUMBER: RDJXXXXXXXX

Desde já, muito obrigada pela informação.

The emabassy will reply really fast [2 days tops] with the date of your fiancee's interview.. We did this and a about a week and half later we got letter from the embassy but we already had our interview date and schedule by the embassy.

    Hope this help

  11. I am waiting for my fiancee to interview with the consul in Rio this upcoming November. I have been hearing lots of negative feedback with regards to their "attitude" and process. Specially a couple of the consuls. Becuase of this, my worries are growing and becoming really stress. My most concern is for the following:

I met my fiancee online a year ago. We have traveled twice to Brazil. My concern is how the consul will see our relationship being the fact we only "know" each other for only one year - and met online..

I am worry they will make her life complicated and very much concern denied her K1.
