My dear sister thank you so much for your post. My husband and I live and Maryland and there making us do too much. We had to go to the Nigerian embassy to authenticate the license. Its just too much. But it is better to just bring your license rather than start the whole process over again.

  4. Hi All,

I had my interview on Oct 6th in Baltimore. It all went very smoothly but for some confusion over our vaccination worksheet. He took our I-94, asked me our address, if I had children, asked my husband my full name, took our I-94 stamped it and attached to my file. He look at our vaccination worksheet that said there was a problem cause it said vaccine history incomplete.

To give a background, we sent the same medical records that we had completed in India before the K1 interview. I've had varicella. I received vaccines for tentanus and MMR. The rest have been checked as not appropriate for age and for influenza it was not the flu season. The doctor has then checked vaccine history incomplete but the applicant may be eligile for blanket waiver because vaccination are not not medically appropriate.

We asked him what other vaccines we needed to take, he said he didn't know but the vaccine history shouldn't be checked as incomplete. He said he would send out and RFE and we needed to see a civil surgeon and mail the results back. And that we needn't come back for an interview.

He also mentioned that all the K1 cases he saw in the last one month had this problem. Have you guys faced such a problem? I'm unhappy with more paper work with the USCIS cause more steps mean more possibility for the application getting stuck somewhere. Anyway, nothing much we can do. He asked us to wait for the RFE before taking an appointment with the civil surgeon. He was extremely friendly and polite.

I also read something in visajourney about transcribing the vaccination record on to I 693? Didi everybody else do this?

    Thanks,

    Sowmya

Sorry Sowmya for what happened during your interview. Now Im scared because i did the same thing too. I sent USCIS a copy of the medical that was done in Nigeria. Wow they give RFE in AOS interviews? Thats ridiculous

  5. My husband was approved for his green card today! We arrived at the Detroit office at 10:10 for our 11:00 a.m. interview. We entered the office, went through security, and were told to go to window 8 and put our appointment letter in the box there. We went to the bathroom first, then went down the hall to the window number 8. There wasn't even a person at the window, just a box of other people's letters. We put ours on top and then sat down. I waited and watched until a human actually came to letters. One person got called back to the window because they were just there for finger prints, so that person was redirected.

We sat on the chairs until 10:35 a.m. when an older man came to the door and called out my husband's name. We followed him down to his office. As we entered the man (Greg Gellert), said, "I think today is going to be a good day!" We sat down, he had us raise our right hands, and swear to tell the truth. Then he asked, "Do you have anything else that you would like me to add to our file?" I asked for clarification if he meant our "supporting evidence of our relationship." He responded, "Whatever you want to have added to your file to help me make the decision." I then handed him a copy of our car insurance listing our names both on the policy, then I gave him a copy of a letter from our bank stating that it was a joint account and a screen shot showing both my name and my husband's name and the fact that it was a joint account, and then two photos from our wedding that were printed on a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of copy paper (in color) with captions (one was a photos of us and our wedding party and the other photo was a whole group photos of our extended family that came to the wedding).

Then the IO went through the I-485 line by line to confirm my husband's name, our address, my name, his birthdate, his country of birth, and when he arrived in the U.S. Then he asked my husband what his parents names were. Then he asked what my birthday was. The IO asked if my husband had left the U.S. since he arrived (of course not!). Then the IO started going through the list "Have you ever been convicted of a crime, ever received public assistance, engaged in illegal gambling, assisted an alien to enter the U.S. illegally, etc" found on pages 3 and 4 of the application. The IO was circling in red the "No responses" as he went along. He offhandedly said, "I have to ask these things so they know I actually interviewed you."

Then the IO asked my husband, "What are you wife's hobbies?" My husband responded, "Photography, scrapbooking, and cooking." Then the IO asked, "What did you eat for lunch yesterday." My husband responded, "Well my wife wasn't feeling well so we ate peanut butter toast with applesauce." The IO laughed.

Then the IO asked me, "How did you meet your husband?"

Then the IO asked me, "If I had ever met my husband's parents?"

Then the IO asked me, "What do your husband's parents do for a living?"

Then the IO asked my husband, "Do you plan to leave the U.S. in the next 2 weeks?" My husband said no. The IO said, "Good, otherwise we would need another picture and would have to do some special stamping so you could leave."

Then the IO turned around, pulled a sheet of paper from a file folder, and said to us, "Today's a good day. You are approved." He then went over when we should apply for the I-751 and the fact that there is no "reminder" notice sent about filing for it. He wrote his name on the top of the form letter that my husband received and said that if we didn't get my husband's green card in 2 weeks, we should call the circled number, and ask to be transferred directly to Greg Gellert's office. Then the IO asked, "Do you have any other questions?" My husband asked about his EAD and whether it was still valid. The IO said it was valid until it expired but that once my husband has his green card he wouldn't need the EAD and that my husband could throw it away or keep it if my husband wanted to. Then the IO escorted us back out to the waiting room and it was over and we were back in the car by 10:50 a.m.! It was over so quick.

The IO was very courteous and professional. Tonight at 8:18 p.m. we got an email saying that our green card production had been ordered. Yeah! Tomorrow my husband has a second interview so hopefully my husband will have a job offer by the end of tomorrow!

Wow lilacvioletiris!!! Nicely detailed interview experience. Thank you so much for sharing. Cant wait for my husband to do his interview.

  7. Hi Nwanyioma, Im a Agust filer, I see you have the same local office Baltimore MD, how was your experience? As today I havent gotteng my Bio app, Im getting worried cuz they told me they were working on Feb 2010 cases... Have a nice rainy and cold day! :)

Hello dierathy. I used to live in Fort Washington and according to the zip code there, my ASC was in Alexandria, Va. It was very dead in the place and painless. I've since moved then and I will be interviewing in Baltimore, Md for the greencard. What I know about Baltimore is that you can not do walk ins there for your biometrics appointment. The day that r scheduled is the day you can go. I hope that was helpful.

  8. Sorry it is has been a very long time since I have posted here on VJ but I do read the boards once in while. Just thought I wouild stop in and say HI to all the oldtimers and new ones. My husband and I have been married since april 2006 and he arrived here in the states in march of 2008. Since he has been here he has been working and taking good care of me.......Sad to say we have miscarraid 3 times. lost all three of our babies......However things are good now....we have been through alot together and our relationship only seems to get stronger every day........words can not express how much I love my husband and how much he loves me......We may be done with the visajourney however we are still on the journey of life togehter and it is a happy one. I cant say it is a happy ending because our love story is still being written......everyday we fill new pages up with many happy memories. And yes even when things are so sad and hard to deal with that is when we are at our best.....We dont turn away from one another we turn to each other for our strength.....We talk to each other listen to each other and respect each other...... Most importent we pray to our God Jehovah together.......When Jehovah is in a marrige and you are guided by his love then your marrige will be an everlasting one.........I hope that everyone here new or old VJ'ers find them selves as happy as we are......I will check back in soon, as my Husband is planning a trip to go back to Nigeria in march to visit his family.......will let you know how that turns out......byeee for now ...

Very Good to hear that your enjoying your marriage with your husband. Its very encouraging for you to post your story. Whenever you visit VJ, you can post your story on the Happy Endings forum. Take care.
