It asks if you have ever been cited by an officer. Receiving a citation is an example of being cited. Weather that applies to parking citations or just moving violations, I don't know, but the form doesn't specify.

By reading the various threads on this site the consensus is that parking violations do not classify as "citations" and need not be disclosed. Aside from this one, of which I had no idea, I got a couple other parking tickets, which I paid immediately. None of those was disclosed.

I went back to the version of the N-400 that I submitted (now outdated), and nowhere it asks "have you ever failed to pay a parking ticket or any other fine issued by local, state or federal law enforcement", or anything close to it. So I should be fine. I did not misrepresent anything. Also, I literally learned about this thing last night, and since the car is also under my wife's name, she must have gotten the ticket and forgotten to pay for it, so it would be hard to say that I lack good moral character. I agree that this should not be an issue going forward. Thanks

Last night I received the documents from the DMV to renew my and my wife's car tags. To my shock and surprise, I found out that there was $145 to be paid for a parking ticket that we allegedly got in October 2013. I have no idea what that is, I am 100% sure that I did not get a ticket, which I would have paid right away. I didn't find any notices of violation or the like on my car. My wife, who is the one who occasionally gets stupid parking tickets, also doesn't recall leaving tickets unpaid. Her comment was "I always make sure to pay them in time". I paid this ticket immediately, as soon as I was made aware that we had one. Now I became a US Citizen in January 2014, 3 months after the ticket was allegedly issued. I did not disclose it (not that I had to, but I had no idea this ticked was even there). The IO asked me if we have any back taxes, to which I responded "no" (I personally take care of our taxes and I know we don't owe any tax money), if I had any traffic tickets (two that I got abroad, all paid). Fine, approved. Do you think that this could cause issues with my naturalization, such as "lack of good moral character for not paying a parking ticket", or "misrepresentation"? Let me add that the car is under my wife's and my name. Thank you for your input, although I probably worry too much I spent a mostly sleepless night thinking about this absurd thing.

Last night I finally received my US passport in the mail. I applied for the non-rush service, and I received it in exactly 4 weeks. Now my journey is finally complete. I will probably not log into this website very often from now on, but let me say that VisaJourney has made my life so much easier, educating me throughout the process and helping me find the right answers to all my questions. All in all my process was straightforward, it took me 4.5 years from when my wife submitted my visa petition until the time I received my US passport.

I had my oath ceremony today. I'm an American

It depends on the grounds on which the denial was based. If it was only for lack of strong ties, then you should be fine. If it was for something else, then you might have issues.

My letter says to report promptly at 9:15 am. IS that when they start checking people in or when they start the ceremony? Should I be there ahead of time? Also, I see that I need to fill out and sign the back of the letter. Do I do it ahead of time or when I get to the interview? Do I need to sign in front of an immigration officer? Thanks.

Oath on January 29

There are certain things in life that you cannot control - such as being born in a certain place. Some others are the result of your free actions. Applying for a citizenship other than the one you received at birth is one of them. When you apply the government fully discloses what the "whole package" is, including: attending the oath ceremony, listening to "God bless the USA", having to file tax returns every year for the rest of your life, facing the possibility of being called to serve on a jury, and - remotely - bearing arms or performing noncombatant service on behalf of the United States. At the citizenship interview they ask you once more whether you support the constitution and you are willing to give the full oath. If you say Yes, they make you sign the form. At no point does anybody force you to do any of this. You still have the choice of not doing it, and in fact a large majority of the people in the world have not done so, and still live happily without a blue passport.

Scheduled for oath today. At this point my guess is that it will be on January 29th. I will keep you posted

My status was changed to scheduled for oath ceremony and a notice providing time and location is on the way to me. Hopefully the letter will arrive soon.

still nothing here. I know that the next ceremony in Oakland is on January 8, but at this point I don't think they will schedule me for that. The following one is on January 29.

How do you pay rent? Do you have a copy of the checks?

Here is my experience. Bear in mind that every interview is unique and every interviewer has a different approach. I went to my interview with my spouse, because we do every important thing together, we always have and always will. When they called my name, we both approached the door where I had to report, the interviewer saw us both and asked me who she was. I said "my wife", and he told her "he will be fine by himself, you can wait outside". During the interview he asked me again whether she was my wife and whether she was off of work (which she was). Ultimately that was MY interview, but I believe that seeing her there with me did not go unnoticed.

I read the prior thread. I see a problem with her crossing from Canada to the US on the visa waiver program. Once you are denied a visa, you cannot use the VWP any more. Did she obtain a new ESTA authorization after being denied the visas and before crossing the border? Did she disclose the two denials?

At my interview on 12/16 (approved) I was told that the next oath ceremony will be 1/29. I actually saw that there is another ceremony on 1/8. I have not received any oath letter, nor has my online status changed. When should I expect to get my letter? I am kinda impatient to complete this step
