everyone is so helpful. Thanks for being informative and saving many of us from the pain and strain of this journey.

If your apprehensive about sending the original get a certified copies. Otherwise you need to send in the original. If these documents should be in a language other than English ( Hey its a crazy mix up world) Then you also need to send in a interpretation for both the Marriage and Birth certificates. The originals should be returned to you at the Embassy interview.
Oh ok. If I get them back then I don't mind sending the originals at all. Thank you sorry I just had to ask to double check.
I had the same concerns as you, about my birth certificate. I am going to opt in for Electronic Processing and bring my originals to the interview.
Oh wow.. ummm electronic processing?
-
I feel dumb for asking this but I just want clarification. Do I send in my actual birth certificate. I have order a long form birth certified certificate and have our original Marriage Cert. My question is do you have to send in the actual originals or will photocopies suffice for the NVC packet? I realize it says 'originals' but I just want to double check as we all know it never hurts to be extra sure.

You're my kind of GIRL... THANKS Neighbor...
I'll be honest I didn't realize that it mattered till I skimmed across it on here a while ago. But a DOH on my part was I didn't update when I got my first NOA1
grrr. Sorry about that.
I called NVC last night to get my number, and they told me it takes at least 6-8 weeks to get through NVC. Then you have to add on the time for the embassy to process and interview.
Thank you so much for this information. It helps out so much

I just updated my timeline
I always remember seeing that others beneift from when it's done so I try to ensure it's there.
-
My question will be how long does it take from the sending of the packet to the NVC to total approval?

Goodluck to all of you. This is a positive sign for all of the other filers out there that the end of march filers are now being approved. Best wishes to you all.

NOA 2 received in the Mail today!!!! We didn't get any notifications through email or phone though.
WOOHOO.

Congrats to everyone !
We haven't seen a touch since April 1st I hope this means everything is still ok.

Hey guys,
Just letting you know we haven't heard anything...
The only reason why I'm smiling is because others haven't heard anything yet either so at least I know it's not that there's something wrong with our application. Thanks everyone for keeping everyone else updated. I can't stress enough how much that helps to see those who filed the same month as you when they get their stuff.

Hey,
we got out NOA1s the same day! And both of our cases got touched on 4/1/10.
Congrats
it's definitely nice to hear and see

We got our NOA1 today in the MAIL today, also when I went to check the status there was already a touch
. We were extremely happy to get it. Call it our Easter present
. We had a botch up on one of the forms so we had to resubmit. From the looks of things it was done in 8 days which is great.

How do you find out your Application Receipt #? Is this mailed to you? There was nothing on the forms that asked us about email addresses. So my guess is you can't proceed to find out if you get touches till you get the 'official' receipt in the mail.
Package was delivered March 8th to Chicago Lockbox.
Never mind I figured it out
I can only start to get 'touch' updates when my husband gets our 1st NOA in the mail which will contain this receipt number.
VJ's guidelines state that you may opt to include Form G-1145 if you want to receive a notification by e-mail or by SMS once the USCIS receives your case. That's also written at the USCIS website.Even if you didn't attach G-1145, you would still receive three separate mails (check your mailbox) from the USCIS, one for EAD, another for AOS, and then for AP. These mails contain your receipt numbers. You may use the receipt or case numbers to sign up for case status updates online.
You are refering to physical mail correct not email?
-
That's when the date under "Last Updated" has changed from the last time you checked it.
You have to make an account first.

All the best for you March filers!

Think there is a few visa and status's that you won't qualify for, but I believe the H1-B is still an option as I think you are allowed intent with that visa. You might want to check into that one...
Really? Thank you for bringing this possibility to my attention. I will be sure to further research it and report back. My job would be in the field of IT support of some sort.
Thank you again.

Filed our I-130 (doing the CR-1 Process) 03/04/2010
i mailed ours the 28th of feb, they recieved it the 1st, my NOA1 date was the 2nd, and i goT it in the mail on the 6th, goood luck everyoneI've always wondered, how do you find out when your NOA1 date is other than getting it in the mail?
Well here we go!I just sent my application through USPS after having worked my butt off to make sure every document and form is in there.
I haven't hired an immigration lawyer to do it... Sort of expensive. But I think -- hope -- I got it right.
I thought it would be a relief to finally send it, since there is not much one can do once it's in the mail. But it'll still be hard not to worry!!
Good luck to all of you!!
My father asked me why I didn't use a lawyer. I told him. "i'm not paying someone to fill out forms for me that I can eventually figure out how to do on my own." I don't understand having the lawyers either. However with out this site we may have had to. But to have this site really makes for no need for the lawyer when you can gain so much insight and tips on this entire process from people who have actually gone through it.
-
Thank you all for your replies. So it seems that there would be no way of doing this because any 'visas' that there are out there for this sort of thing has to have no ties to the 'immigration' process. If I'm understanding this correctly. Many thanks and I guess we'll see what the future holds for us.
All the best to all of you, Thanks again.

Well the topic pretty much asks it. I am currently unemployed and am getting EI. I am struggling with the though of either looking for a job here which I know i will have to leave shortly there after or not having a job at all in canada. I have been unable to find information on jobs in the USA or what process can possibly be done (if at all). My husbands work may have a possible open position, that they may consider me for. however I'm wondering if there's a way for me to work for them while this CR-1 Process is pending (we just filed our I-130 on Thursday). If there is something that we can file for could someone explain this process and what all I'd have to do for it. Again even if this is possible.
-
Because you're a dying breed, Danno.
Correct.
-
I guess the biggest question is if you just filed for your I-130 how do you get the information you need in order to create an account? Or is there a something that is sent when your case is received?
-
In time it will be legalized. Whether some of us like it or not. I am new here but am some what astonished at the lack of intellectual conversation. If you don't agree with someone on a topic that is their right to state an opinion. But to bash either group for it is childish.
Either way whoever stands for or against it won't matter. In the long run this will be something that is passed. Perhaps not in our life time or our children s but it will happen. Just as it has with other countries. I could care less what people do with their private life. So long as they are not hurting me I feel that everyone deserves to be loved and love in return.
I believe in what I believe and I don't need to justify my reasons to anyone other than myself and perhaps my husband. The reasons why someone agrees with something or not doesn't change the fact that they do or do not agree on a topic. This banter and hollering from both sides is useless as religion talk is between a catholic and an atheist. No one is going to change anyone's mind. So I ask what's the point in anyone posting any topics of this sort. Not just you OP but as you've stated there have been others made in opposition.
Medical Examination - When?
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
So I'm unsure if anyone has started something like this. But I haven't been able to find a straight forward answer.
I have a question in regards to WHEN exactly you schedule your Medical Examination. I am a bit confused. For reference we have submitted my IV package already.
Now I'm wondering when I get the medical exam done. Do I wait till I hear from them when we get our interview information? Or can I plan ahead and get the medical examination done now. I'd be getting it done in Ontario (Toronto to be exact = As that's the only certified doctor on the consulates PDF list)
Thank you in advance and I'm terribly sorry if this is always asked.
