  1. I went to the BI office on friday but the person who signs everything wasn't there. They told me i can get it done at the airport I never did it there before. My problem is i got me and my fiancees tickets on friday we will be leaving on monday at 12:45 noon. Or do you think if i get to manila at 7 i can get to the BI in Pasay City to get Clearance. Does anyone know what it will cost if i get at airport.

I've been here for 8 months

  2. Just wondering what your favorite places to visit in the Philippines are and why ?

I'm heading back soon. Besides Davao City and my girls hometown the only other place I have visited so far is Cebu City.

you can go up north like baguio city or vigan city.

just dont go up north during the election period...hehe... im from ilocos and its not advisable...

Up north isn't as bad as you say during elections. I've been in Abra an they say its the worst place for a foreigner to be. They didn't mess with me at all. Its each other they like to kill during elections.

  4. EVA Airways is the cheapest i found i got round trip open ended 900 plus tax for a year. One way is 540 plus tax. good flight TV in every seat. You become a member and get tickets. But the only problem if you use credit then it has to be in persons name who is flying. unless you pay cash there is a book place right in Makati city. good luck

  5. If you buy land in northern Luzon you don't have to worry about the Muslims to much. Ive been all over northern Luzon even in Abra were most rebels hang out. Ive been in night clubs at 3 o'clock in the morning no worries. The only worries you have are all the kids and grownups starring at you some times it gets annoying. There are allot of gays what do you expect all the women are women are leaving to us foreigners so the men have to turn gay. There are allot of blind people to.you have to worry about them they cant stair. For buying land you just look at it this way don't your wife mad and you can die in it. Land is getting very expensive in the Philippines lately. Most lots are very small and cost 3 to 4 million pesos and up witch is $75,000 and up and you don't have all the amenities you have in the states.. In the States you don't have to travel all over to find stuff. I live there for about 2 years now in 2 visits. Yes you can't own land but you can own a condo.

I love living in the Philippines because of the climate nothing else because although the people are nice they are "pigs" throwing there garbage everywhere. At one time i was going to buy beach front property but what turned me off after a couple of days staying there watching all the garbage floating in the water and all up and down the beach. I have not yet seen a beach that is clean up here. They like to cut the trees down then they cry when they have land slides. But in the end I will buy land here because I like the climate.

  6. Not all people are bad. About 8 years ago I was in a bus station in Saint Louis. I met a man from Nigeria we started to talk while waiting for the bus. He told me he was in the US because his brother was in a plain crash. The company flew him to the US to get his brothers remains and the insurance money from the crash it totaled $7000. He asked me a few questions. and i answered him. Just before we were getting on different buses he asked one final question and that was if i would take the money. He wanted me to take $3000 for myself and donate the rest to a charity for children. At first i said no because i thought i could be getting into some trouble. Thats when he told me he couldn't take it back to Nigeria because they will kill him there if he has money like that. In the end i took the money and did what he asked and never got in trouble.

  7. i say your country needs another dictator running it with an iron fist. Like when macros was running it for his first 2 terms. There was no problems then everything was good in the Philippines economy was good buildings were nice not so dirty and poorly built as today and it was much cleaner back then. There was more trees better roads. Less garbage every where. Until the college kids and the other rivals got tired of him. Then things started going down hill.

  8. I lived in the Philippines for a year on my first visit. I was really disappointed because of all the people sitting on there butts collecting money from there family members working abroad. Those people working abroad work very hard to earn little money and have to pay back most of it to the company who sent them. Then they send the rest of the money to there families. There families live like kings buying all of the goodies. When finally there contract is up they go back to the Philippines and find out the family spent it all and now they have nothing. They work all those years and in return have nothing to show for it except for the aches and pains.. The Philippines is becoming a welfare country relying on other people to support them. They don't have any ambition to get up and work. They would rather sit around and drink and get money from relative abroad...... They are dirty people to throwing there trash every where. you cant go any where without see trash.

Me I wouldn't send money to my wifes family unless i new they were working and it is a big emergency. They would have to show proof to. and then it would only be the mother and father no one else.

  9. Ok if you were married in the US and didn't report it to the Philippines then your not married there. Ok. So go get a cenomar to see if it shows single. Get the divorce take the papers to the Embassy when your interview comes. Also give them to your fiance for the K1 processing. You just can't get married in the Philippines.... The thing is is the Embassy is just going to make sure your not married to anyone else other then your ex husband who is a US citizen.

Make sure you get a Cenomar that shows single if not get a Cemar too. The rezone i am telling you to get that is because if your marriage to the USC is recored in the Philippines they will ask for a Cenomar and a Cemar. If on Cenomar shows single you wont need the Cemar. Make sure you get both of them within a month of your interview. Also get NBI clearance with both maiden name and married name on it. Because if you do not have it they will make you get one and that takes weeks.

See you were married to a US citizen. doesn't matter who file the divorce you or him. you can still get married in the States after the divorce.

But on the other hand you were married in the Philippines there is no divorce unless the US citizen filed it. Even then it is still hard to get it recognized in the Philippines. Lots of processing and money still. Yes I know all about article 26 Under the family code but its not that easy Ive went threw the processing for my wife. She was married to USC and he filled the divorce. She is still married in the philippines because i didn't want to go threw all of the ###### to fix it. I went threw the K1 process. The old man will die soon anyways then we will show death certificate and then file our marriage in the Philippines.

The US doesn't care about the laws of the Philippines. You are divorce in there eyes.

Just make sure you have Cenomar showing single if not then get cenomar and cemar certificate of marriage. What it is is marriage indexing. And also NBI with married name and maiden name. Also give copy of divorce papers to new fiance and for embassy. But if your Fiance isn't from the US then Its a whole new ballgame.

  10. Is there anyone here who had there name misspelled on child's birth certificate. How did you correct it and when you went to interview at embassy what did they say.

Because me and my fiancee went to the interview yesterday and we had got a certified letter from local registrar stating that it is in proses to be fixed, but it takes 2 to 3 months to get corrected birth certificate and we also had affidavit of support about the the name being misspelled. They told us they wanted birth certificate with annotation on the side with the new name, but we went to NSO and they said they don't know how to do it.

no one had a problem with misspelled name on child's birth certificate in this group

  11. Is there anyone here who had there name misspelled on child's birth certificate. How did you correct it and when you went to interview at embassy what did they say.

  12. I have a question. OK when you went to the interview did you already have new birth certificate or did you take the certified certificate from local registrar show that you changed it. What did they do when you only had certificate showing that you corrected it. Did they tell you that you had to get a birth certificate with annotation with corrected name and how did you get that.

  13. when you get married in the US you will be married in the Philippines too. For the divorce thing you could still get a divorce from her as well as her in the US. But that divorce wont be recognized in the PH. You can then get married but she cant because there is no divorce in the PH. She can remarry in the US but she can get into some trouble if she goes back to the PH.

There is a law in the PH that say that if a foreigner gets married to a Filipino and the foreigner gets a divorce thereafter they will except the divorce. Allowing the Filipino to remarry to.

But there is lots of things to do and money to spend on the Filipinos behalf.

Under the Family Code Article 26

As for the marriage once you get married you can call the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC and ask them were to send a copy of the marriage certificate.

  14. here are the steps

What forms and other items are required for Adjustment of Status?

Please see the K1 & K3 Adjustment of Status Guide. In short though you will require the following forms:

    1. Payment(s) as required by USCIS. Be sure to include the payment for both the I-485 and the biometrics fee*. Use a money order so you can track the payment. If a personal check is allowed, use that instead. >> The fee for I-485 applications filed on or after July 30th 2007 inlcudes the cost of the I-131 and I-765 (no need to pay for them if filed with or while your I-485 application is pending adjudication -- as long as you paid the "new" rate for the I-485 effective July 30th 2007).

    2. Cover Letter. Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-485), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet.

    3. Form I-485: Petition for Alien Relative

    4. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses Passport (biographical page as well as entry stamps).

4a. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses K-1 or K-3 Visa from Passport

    5. K-1 Visa Holders: Submit Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-129F **

K-3 Visa Holders: Submit Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-130

    6. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses valid I-94 (front and back copies)

    7. A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate along with English translation. (If in any language other than English)

    8. A certified copy of your marriage certificate. (If filing for your spouse)

    9. Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the Non US Citizen Spouse. Write the full name on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.

    10. G-325A filled out, signed and dated. If you are using a newer version of the G-325A it may only contain one page for "Biographic Information". Be sure to make four copies of the completed "Biographic Information" page to submit with the package.

    11. I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. (If you already have this from your overseas Visa Interview submit a copy that medical check form; No fee is required in this case. If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.)

    12. I-864, Affidavit of Support (see poverty limits here)

    >> Include any additional required supporting documentation

    13. I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, if you want to work while your application is processed (optional)

    >> Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos.

You don't need this unless she wants to go home for vacation.

    14. I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed (optional)

    >> Include any additional required supporting documentation.

    * Fingerprint fee not needed for applicants under 14

** Should this document be misplaced/lost/never received you can file an I-824 to receive a duplicate copy via mail.

As with the fiance(e) visa package, the "best" way to get these forms online via the USCIS (INS) site on the internet. You may also get the forms via the USCIS (INS) toll free number (given in the references section). You can also find links to the required AOS forms here.

Applicants are required to mail applications to a national mailbox (Chicago) as stated on the form (not your local USCIS office).

Be sure to mail the package with return receipt requested / delivery confirmation. Send via USPS.

By reading the forums, you can get an idea of what things you need to know. You may also want to read the K-1 AOS filing Tips Page and use the example forms page as a guideline to filling out the forms.

Here are the costs of them

    I-485 AOS $1010

I-765, Application for Employment Authorization $340

I-131 Application for Travel Document $305

But not sure if the I-765 and the I-131 costs are included in the I-485 fee

Mow for the vaccination not sure how much it would cost. You should have got them when u were at SLMEC
