Thanks for sharing - it helps us to plan accrdingly. We plan to file after the baby is born. Also plan to send them the copy of Health Insurance details from online access rather than the physical card and also need to plan to send Auto Insurance avoiding the display of validity date.

That's what we've included in our packet... online copies of our health and auto insurance coverage in conjunction with copies of the physical cards... did not have any issues with coverage dates...

New Bio appointment scheduled and added to list! Funny thing is Andrew could have made our 8/24 appointment since baby came two weeks early! Born 8-10-12! But it will be nice to get this part over with since I now know we are moving from Seattle to Maryland in October!

CONGRATULATIONS! We have a 1 year old -- it's the best thing ever!!!

Decided to take half of the day off yesterday to go with my wife to her biometrics appointment. Her schedule was at 2pm and we got there 10 mins early.

To my surprise, out of the 50 seats in the room, 49 were empty!!! -- so needless to say, it was quick and easy... we were in and out in 15 minutes.

I'm pretty sure they would gladly take walk-ins there -- Pomona ASC

adding back APP-GIRL's bio date -- it got lost somehow

Wohooo. I took a chance, and drove 1.5 hours to the Wichita USCIS Center hoping to be able to walk-in for my biometrics. No one asked me anything weird. Everyone was SUPER nice. I just told the girl that I worked on the day of my appointment and I had come hoping to get it done today. She said she'd try to fit me in, and within 20 minutes she called my number. I got my picture taken, my fingerprints scanned, she stamped my biometrics appointment letter, and I was on my way! I don't know if I will get approved sooner or not because of this, but I am just glad to be done with this part of the process 10 days earlier (and just 3 days after receiving the letter LOL!) =D

Glad to hear that worked out for you! -- that would have sucked if they turned you down after an hour and a half drive.

It would be really interesting to see how the approval process is affected by going for an early bio, rescheduling bio (as in my wife's case), and going on the scheduled appointment... or whether it will have any affect at all -- I guess, we'll just have to WAIT and see...

no need to panic -- there might have just been a misfeed on the copier that page 2 got stuck on page 1 when you were making copies.

it wouldn't hurt to call them on monday and explain your situation. i'm sure they will give you some kind of advice on what to do or what to expect.

i'm not an expert, but i think there are a couple of scenarios that could happen:

1) CSC will issue you a NOA1 upon receipt of your application which extends the GC for 1 year. You will surely get an RFE for incomplete documentation.

2) CSC will return your whole package.

Since you stated that the GC doesn't expire for another month, i think you have enough time to make corrective action if scenario 2 happens.

Watch out for the check... if the check is cashed, NOA1 is on the way.

Well I just got my wife's biometrics appointment for 8/3 and I have to rescedule because we will be away. I thought they gave you at least 3-4 weeks advance notice? My concern is how bad will this affect her application because we have to rescedule? I am sending them a cover letter explaining why we can't make the appointment and a copy of the itinerary along with the notice.

no need to include a cover letter with explanation... my wife was in a similar situation so i called uscis to try to get an earlier appointment -- agent explains to me that when rescheduling, you will automatically get the earliest available bio appointment in the queue...

i received my wife's rescheduled bio appointment a couple of days ago and it's scheduled for 8/20... just 13 days or 9 business days later than the original appointment (8/7). so not much delay in my opinion...

but i agree with the previous recommendations... if you have time and the office is relatively close from you, try walk-in...

For my wife's ROC application, I put everything together in a manila folder with a fastener and threw the folder in a USPS priority mail envelope. Since im fairly close to the CSC, it only took 1 day to get there.

I am going to get through this. It seems like I have some options, which is great news. Her family have said they will do anything to help as well, so I suppose their testimony would come in handy in proving the marriage was genuine and I acted in good faith. Would it be wise to schedule an infopass appointment? Or would it cost me to disclose all this information to the USCIS so soon? I don't want to compromise my status unintentionally..

Sorry to hear that dude. Since you're GC is valid for another year or so, you can definitely stay here in the US. Once your window opens, file for ROC. But it's best to take that offer from her family and get their testimonies now -- you'll never know what happens once that divorce proceeding start, it might get ugly and her family may no longer extend that offer when you need it... Best of luck to you.

Received my wife's biometrics appointment in the mail today -- scheduled for 8/7/12. The thing is, she we won't be back from her quick trip to the Philippines until 8/8/12!!! -- missed it by one day... so unfortunately, we have to reschedule...

How many folks are submitting affidavits?

i didn't have any affidavits from friends and family in the package i submitted... i do believe though, that i've got more than enough evidence to prove bonefide marital relationship... but had i known that affidavits would help, i would have included some in my packet...

My husband and I will file at the end of this month at the VSC and noticed they have wait times anywhere from 4 to 11 months. Since my husband is working full time, what happens is we are not approved on time and his green card expires? Is there anything we should do to cover the gap or is anyone else running into this situation? Any advice is appreciated!

The NOA1 that you will receive will say:

"Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel."

I went to the interview with my wife (fiance then) to the USEM in Manila. I noticed that we were given priority over the ones that went without their US citizen partners -- we were interviewed ahead of the people that were there before us. Also, during the interview, the CO was interviewing me more than my wife. Total time of the interview was less than 10 minutes.

Got my NOA1 today! It has a receipt date of 7/9/12. Updated my timeline below.

It answered my previous question too -- it says "Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel."

So I guess my wife will not be having any issues coming back after her quick trip to the Philippines

Hey guys, July filer here! I sent out our I-751 packet to CSC on July 6. My wife's conditional GC expires 9/15 (a little late on sending out the packet -- our window opened in June). The check was cashed yesterday 7/11. Hoping for a smooth and quick process.

Quick question for you guys... my wife will be going for a quick trip to the Philippines from 7/25 to 8/8 -- and since her GC do not expire until 9/15, she shouldn't have any problem coming back in, right? -- what i also plan to do is to have here bring a copy of the NOA1 (when we receive it) to show proof that her removal of conditions is in the works. Anything else she should bring?

I had an issue almost like this...they had my First and Middle name both together as my first name...was funny but this is what they had it as and it was a matter of contacting USCIS and telling them to correct it. I believe you may have to submit the Marriage Cert as proof.

So my wife and I successfully adjusted her status from a K-1 visa to a permanent resident. We received her greencard on 9/25/2010. Everything is correct on the greencard, however, when we went to the Social Security office yesterday to get her a new card with her new last name (my last name), we were informed that her last name in the USCIS database is still her maiden name. Fortunately, the lady that helped us was able to process the new social security card but she warned us that this may cause some issue in the future especially when we go out of the country.

Has this ever happened to anyone? How do we go about fixing this problem?

My then fiancee (wife now) applied for a ssn 15 days after her entry here in the states. We didn't have any problems. It will have a stamp on the ssn card saying (something like) "valid for employment with DHS authorization only."

Now that we're married and our aos has been approved, we'll be going back to ssn office to change her last name as soon as we receive her gc from the mail.
