  1. my wife's GC expired last month, but she now has her extension letter after we filled for ROC before the GC expired. We are traveling back to Indonesia in May, and we're a bit worried that her new GC won't arrive before then. Will we have any trouble getting back into the US with her expired GC and extension letter? has anyone here traveled with their extension letter and successfully re-entered the US? or has anyone had any troubles returning to the US?

  2. my wife and I don't have much evidence. I read in another thread that uscis requires evidence spanning the entire marriage. the only thing I can dig up that spans our marriage is our 2010 and 2011 tax returns. I can print up some bank statements, but the account we have now was open earlier this year. and I can probably get some statements from my previous bank on our account that we had closed, but whenever they sent us statements, they kept spelling my wife's name wrong despite the fact they kept telling that my wife's name was spelled correctly in their system.

also, I just added my wife to my best buy credit card account, but her name isn't on the statement. can I include a copy of my statement along with copies our credit cards?

I also have a statement from the YMCA, but it's our account closing statement. it doesn't state how long we've had membership with the Y, it just has our names on it together and the date our membership was cancelled. could I include that as well?

what about paycheck stubs? I have a few recent pay stubs that show we have the same address. are those usable?

and I do have a couple of health insurance statements, but my wife's name is different on them. she has yet to legally change her last name with my name, so she is still registered with uscis under her maiden name, but on the insurance statements they put her name with my last name. will that be ok? can we just put her name like that on "other names used" on the ROC form?

I also have a statement from the title company who has issued us the deed to our house, and it also has my wife's name with my last name on it.

  3. By the way, you are also confusing people here since you haven't filled out your timeline. Are you and your wife filing for ROC or AOS next month? See the bolded clauses.

If your wife arrived her through K-1 and is still about to file for AOS, check the stamped date on her Form I-94. Use that date to answer the portion "If not a Permanent Resident, my stay in the US expires on" when filling out her AR-11. Somebody may correct me if I'm mistaken but the stamped date indicates the 90-day period from her arrival date in the US.

we're filing for the ROC. should I put the expiration date of her green card on the AR-11 instead?

  4. great. another thing. on the I-865 form is asking for the effective date of change of address. what should I fill in? I haven't used my parents address since i moved into my house back in May and the instructions for the I-865 state that I should report the change of address within 30 days of the change. am I going to be in trouble? I'm seriously confused here.

  5. I'm having a problem with the online AR-11 for my wife. two things. it's asking if the current address is temporary, how long do I(my wife) expect to stay there. well, the current address is our permanent address, but it's not letting me leave that part blank. and the second part is asking if my wife isn't a permanent resident, when will her stay in the US expire? It won't let me leave that part blank either. what should i put there?

  6. I'm confused on what to do now. should I just continue using our old address(my parent's address) my wife and are registered with? or go ahead and file for our current address despite that we've been here at our new house much longer than 10 days. all of our bonafides (bills and bank statements) have both of our names with our new address since may or june. are we going to be in trouble?

  7. even though my wife and I have lived in our new house since May, we have yet to notify USCIS for our change of address since the address she is registered with them is my parent's address. but since we're about to file for her adjustment of status within the next month, we should change the address. Are we going to be in any kind of trouble for not filing for the change of address when we moved into our house since the instructions state that the change of address should be filed within 10 days of moving? and is it better to change the address online through uscis.gov or just mailing the form AR-11?

  9. When my wife and I got married two years ago no one told us how she could change her last name to mine. So when it came time to get her green card, she applied for it using her maiden name. Well, recently someone had told me that all we needed to do change her last name was to take a certified copy of our marriage license to the Social Security office to get her name changed. So, when the time comes for us to apply for the removal of conditions, will it be difficult to have her name changed on her greencard? What will we need to supply with the application? Copy of the new social security card with her new last name? new photo id? notarized same name affidavits? copy of the marriage license?
