mawilson That is about right $45. All taxes are taken out as well as any taxes on tips that were billed to a credit card. Some restaurants also take out for your uniform. Where I worked if you needed new towels they charged you $3 a towel (you had to carry 2) and would take it out of your pay.

Hi sam11! Yep, just means that they are having their security checks completed. You can see by my timeline that it didn't take too long to be completed. They usually have it in 4-6 weeks. Just keep calling the DOS and they can tell you what the status is. I called everyday until they said he was cleared, then the next updated list on their website showed his case number. He went back last week and was issued the visa in 2 days. Don't worry, just normal processing for Iranians.

You will tip at a jar for someone getting you a donut but you resent tipping someone that goes for your drinks, serves your meal, brings you what you ask, refills your drinks?? I don't understand that.

Being a waitress is hard work. Imagine standing on your feet for 6 hours (no breaks allowed). This isn't a job people get because they like it. The restraunts have a monopoly because they are usually the only ones that will work with someones schedule and allow them to take care of kids or go to school, or take care of parents.

What is the difference if it is already added in on the menu? When you sit down, add 15%, there is the realistic price.

I usually tip only in sit down restaurants or where you drive up and they bring it out. In a sit down restaurant i always do 20%, for the drive up usually regardless of the bill amount, $1 or $2.

I only do this because I have been working in restaurants as a 2nd job for the last couple years. (Johnny Carinos) The servers get paid 2.13 to 2.63 an hour (here in Az). They are then charged 2% of the total bill and then they usally tip share 10% to the bartender. I have had nights where it was swamped and the managers (jerks where I worked) would load you up with 5-6 tables with each table 4-6 people. In that case no matter how hard you work or how fast, you are behind.

So, for me, the best way is ask how many tables.. if they have a huge section, then I don't mind the person being slow. If they say 2 or 3 small tables, well, maybe they are a bit lazy. Now if they are just rude, I leave a penny~ Once they have enough people doing that and they are paying out for them, they should wise up!!

I am staying at my dad's house until he gets here then we are going to go get a place So no house to get ready either. He "forbade" me to go shopping for anything, because he wants to do it when he gets here. (Oh dear, he can outshop me!!)

I think I am going to have too much time on my hands for these 3 weeks to pass!

Well, Ali went to Ankara and down to the embassy yesterday. They took the paperwork and his passport. They told him that if everything is in order after they review his documents he *should* get the visa in 2-3 days.... I have my fingers and my toes crossed

I guess we should know in the next 2 days if he gets the visa...He has already reserved his ticket for Sept 1st, so if all goes well he will be here OMG in 22 days!! I just realized that is only 22 days OMG 22 days, and thats it? OMG

I have asked him to send me a pic so I make sure I take the right guy home... yeash wouldn't that be something!

Hey Debbie!! 6-8 weeks is going to fly!!

Ali is back in Turkey He went and dropped off our papers and his passport... lets just hope he gets the visa!! He said that they will review his papers again and he should get his visa in 2-3 days.. He has already reserved a flight for the 1st of September I have a feeling my nerves are going to be on edge for the next couple days lol.

I am so glad it went well for you Debbie!! Your honey will be with you soon!! Best of all, you can finish the rest of the journey without being apart!!

Update: I called the DOS this morning to see if there were any more checks requested and they said no, but when he goes and applys for his visa, they may request them then. Hopefully not. Ali is planning on going on Monday or Tuesday to get his visa.. then he will be here in 3-4 weeks... fingers crossed that all goes well.

I can't believe that we may be together again after a year and half!! Thank you everyone for all of your support!!!
