    Good Luck folks

Oh geez...we're LAST! :crying: Thanks for doing this, though!

  2. I am leaving tomorrow morning going to Morocco. The Rabat Airport closed yesterday because of the ash from the volcano in Iceland. Does anyone know if the Rabat Airport has reopened?

    I would appreciate any information.

I asked my husband about that today and he said the ash had cleared.

  3. IMO - it's 'those on VJ' who are interviewing in INDIA, as that VFS office REQUIRES a new set to be turned in, prior to interview day. IMO, this sucks, but it is what it is.

If you have specific examples of others, though, for Morocco, you'll prolly wanna pay attention to that.

Thanks. That's why I was asking, to see if anyone who's been through Morocco had to bring them again. I guess I'll dig a little deeper through older posts.

  4. There are 2 different Moroccan criminal records which are absolutely required for a CR1, and they are required at the NVC level of the process. You will get an RFE from the NVC if both are not provided. Even if there is no criminal record, he must proivide both certificates, and the certificates will say exactly that: no criminal record. Provide both of them, trust me...I accidentally forgot to include one of them and it added an entire month to our NVC process due to the RFE.

    1. Fiche Anthropometrique

    2. Extrait du Casier Judiciaire

Ok, but my original question is whether or not we need to get another copy again for the interview? We have a case complete at NVC and an assigned interview date. I just have seen some here on VJ who are preparing for the interview and are getting originals of the beneficiary documents again. Is that necessary?

  5. Just a couple of questions. I would like to verify with the embassy that they have received our documents from the NVC. I would prefer to talk to a person on this one but is Casa an embassy that pretty much just wants emails? Also, I've read some on the boards where beneficiaries are getting another copy of all of the original documents that were already mailed in to the NVC (birth certificate, police and court records, etc.). Is this really necessary? My husband has already spent a lot of time and money on this and if it's a "just in case" sort of thing is it recommended to do so? I don't want to have an extra wait time but I also don't want to send him all over the place again getting the documents. Anyone who's been through Casa on a CR1 have any insight?

    Thanks!

  6. hey sachi..best of luck for your interview...u'l absolutely be approved...u have helped a lot of people on this forum including me...so my well wishes along with others will help you pass the final hurdle in meeting your hubby...best of luck and just try n relax...

best of luck to all those who have their interviews in the second week....god bless all..

I second this post! Seriously Sachi, you have helped so many of us and you know you are prepared. I am looking forward to hearing the positive review after your interview and if anyone deserves it, it is certainly you. Thanks for all of your help and if all of our positive thoughts and vibes can be of any help, just know we are sending them with you! Good luck!

  7. FYI: They DO keep a log of how many times you call so you don't want to be calling too many times a day.

Vanessa--You can always check the AVR which will tell you when your package has been forwarded to the Embassy.

You're not gonna get a tracking # out of some NVC drone. We get that you're worried about your originals, all of us are. Nobody wants to run around AFTER this process is over, trying to get new birth certificates and marriage certificates.

Your interview is practically two months away. Most likely, it won't be sent out for another couple of weeks. It's probably sitting safely at NVC.

    Relax. And don't stress.

    Happy weekend, y'all.

Thanks Sachi. The point is that the AVR has already been updated and the package HAS been sent, as of May 4th and the NVC rep confirmed that it was in fact mailed on out the 4th, but I didn't see it on DHL. I'm not stressing yet. Like I said, I will verify with the embassy next week.

  8. We did purchase the ticket as 1 flight with 2 layovers. It wasn't done separately. I guess the problem is the 2 layovers.

For the person suggesting to buy the ticket from royal air maroc and to buy a second ticket, thats almost always more expensive. A ticket to new york from casa on royal air maroc costs about 800 right now. We can get a ticket from casa, to rome, to chicago for 689$ and it gets us to his final destination.

My fiancee will go back to the travel agency tomorrow and get a clearer answer.

Normally that is true and I would agree however the last couple of weeks that has been different. I've been looking for flights to Casablanca and the ones that are booked together going from Phoenix to JFK and then JFK to Casablanca are around $2200 right now (and going up)...YIKES! But I looked for them separately and chose the exact same flights with the exact same airlines and the same flight numbers at the same time (Delta to JFK and Royal Air Maroc to Casa)and it was over $500 cheaper. I've never seen it like this so my advice would be to check both ways and see which one is less expensive from your particular destination. Also, I want to know where you saw the NY to Casa on Royal Air Maroc for $800 because I just priced it today for $1375 and would love to save another $575!

  9. Vanessa, don't worry about what Deb wrote. It actually was uncalled for. 'harass NVC'? you've got to be kidding me. Everyone obsesses and is anxious in every step of this process. These threads should be used to post your stesses and worries and get help and support. You have my support. ;) You can call them as many times as you want, you can check the DHL website as much as you want. Gathering documents is something no one wants to do over again. The NVC is open till midnight, don't see how thats an inconvience for some. Keep us all posted :P

Thank you everyone for your support! I do understand Deb's point though about trying not to stress throughout the process and I do really appreciate that sentiment. I just disagreed about the calling is all. I have an important reason for wanting to know where our documents are and making sure they are safe and I feel anyone would have the same concerns. I called NVC because I was hoping for a tracking number since I knew it won't be at the embassy yet. I'm just going to give it a few days and make sure it arrived at the embassy and will call them first. If so, then I'm a happy woman to never have to call NVC again! If not, then I'll be on the phone again and raising a little heck until it is located. It's important to me and, like Ally said, it has sentimental value too. Thanks again everyone and thanks Deb for the reminder to take a deep breath and try not to go crazy in the process!

  10. Here's my take, sorry to everyone but seriously ... why bother harassing NVC when you have a CC and an interview date assigned? Why not just destress for a bit?

There are others (and we've all been there) who are still waiting for CC and/or an interview date. Clogging NVC's one telephone line makes it harder for people who need to get through and speak to an operator. Or maybe I'm just not as obsessive but there does come a time when you have to let go and not let the process consume you.

While I do understand your concern, it is not about obsessing. I will most certainly destress when the package arrives to the embassy safely. That packet contains our ONLY English translated copy and the ONLY original Arabic copy of our marriage certificate. You have to understand that in Morocco it is an incredibly lengthy process to get all of the stamps, approvals, and necessary documentations. It took us several weeks last summer and we would not want to have to go through that again. It is distressing to me to think that it could possibly be lost. It is not exactly easy for me or my husband to obtain another copy with the certification stamps. So, it is not a frivolous phone call when I want to be sure they have taken care of the documents we have entrusted to the NVC. Since other packages appear on the DHL website but our's did not, I have an understandable amount of concern. However, I have just as much a right to make a phone call as anyone else. My call lasted all of 45 seconds so it's not like it caused anyone to have to wait an undue amount of time and the NVC is open extended hours. As we were going through the entire NVC process I made only a couple of phone calls to clarify what we were doing, as things progressed normally as VJ predicted. It is only when things happen out of the "norm" that I am making any inquiries so I don't feel like I'm taking away from anyone else by following through with my case.

  11. I don't think that the CO does much work ahead of time apart from reviewing the documents.

AP is usually for name/security/background checks and that doesn't start before the interview.

    They should, but they don't.

Alright then. It's interesting looking at timelines out of Morocco how some get the visa the next day and others have to wait and wait. I want to be part of the first group! Ok, I'm REALLY going to go get some sleep now.

  12. The AVR will be updated when your package is sent out.

Give it another week or so and then you can call your Consulate and see if you're on the books.

That's what I did--I was so sick of NVC that I just waited for a week or so before I called the Consulate and they told me that my case had arrived and I was up on the interview list.

Seriously, don't bother with the DHL thingie. It's a PITA.

Ok, sounds like a plan. Thanks!
