  1. Hello good people of Visa Journey

Its time to send out the I-485 and finally finish my wife's K-3 Process and had a question besides the I-485 form and the copy of the entire previous packet what other forms must I send out? I have been looking at other places and they say to send everything from the SS application to the new doctors checkup and just wanted to verify with you guys. Thanks

  2. Thank you for your input and sorry for that...

As you were responding I was retyping the options to post because I was trying to cut and paste for the past 30 minutes but just resorted to typing it myself. Here they are

    a. An immigrant petition giving me an immediately available immigrant visa number has been approved (attach a copy of the approval notice, or a relative, special immigrant juvenile, or special immigrant military visa petition filed...

    b. My spouse or parent applied for adjustment of status or was granted lawful permanent residence in an immigrant visa category that allows derivative status for spouses and children

    c. I entered as a K-1 fiance(e) of a US citizen whom I married within 90 days of entry...

    d. I was granted asylum or derivative asylum status as the spouse or child of a person granted asylum and am eligible for adjustment.

    e. I am a native or citizen of Cuba admitted or paroled into the US after Jan 1, 1959...

    f. I am the husband, wife or minor unmarried child of a Cuban described above in (e)....

    g. I have continously resided in the US since before Jan 1, 1972

    h. Other basis of eligibility. Explain (for example, I was admitted as a refugee, my status has not been terminated, and I have been physically present in the US for 1 year...

  3. Good Afternoon visa journey friends.

Well finally as time winds down and of course I finally have to money to file adjustment of status for my wife. I got stuck on a form and was wondering if I could get some help. I am filling out the I-485 and under section 2 where it asks me why I am filling the AOS it does not give me the option to enter K-3 so I was wonderign what would you guys recomend checking, I checked currently other and put in K-3 AOS. The reason I decided to complete K-3 as opposed to IRC is to avoid returning to the Consulate in Cuidad Juarez Mex.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

  4. Greetings Visa Journey

Well its been a while now since my wife came over from Mexico and I had a question I did not know where to post it or not and not sure if anyone can help me out here so I am also looking for help to this question elsewhere.

I need to finish my tax filling ASAP to finish paying the Visa Process.

Since she's here on a K-3 and I not yet with a SSN, I was looking to get her an ITIN. But I was reading on the IRS website that if they are eligible to get an SSN then they cant get the ITIN. We have been married for a whole year already and she has been legally my dependent since she has not and obviously cant work here yet. Is there anything I can do whats your advice?

    Thanks in advanced

  5. thanks for all the wonderful and insightful help. even though many people warned me about the high cost of the K-3 as I sit here and compare cost i think its still cheaper for me to pay the K-3 than to continue with the IR-1.

The IR-1/ CR-1 has costs of about 500 yes but to include airfare to and from Juarez (most likely again) about 200 if bought cheap. Another 160 dollars for the medical, and about 200 dollars for a x amount of nights in the hotel again. plus add another 200 if I go to juarez so thats one more extra plane ticket. oh and plus food :)

thats an aditional burden of 700+ dollars

thats what I can pay for the adjustment of status for the K-3 and not have to worry about flying to a very dangerous city for an unknown number of days.

Well thats how I see it

Any aditinal costs you can see on the K-3 other than the medical?

  6. Hey guys first of all I want to thank all those who helped me out in the process of getting my wife's visa approved.

After much doubt and hopes on the forum and NVC side, my wife got the K-3 approved and now I am looking to see whats next.

Reasons I ask as to what next is because I never cancelled the I-130 (dont know if I should) but I just got a letter from NVC to pay up for the Immigrant Visa Prossesing fee. I know the K-3 is a non-immigrant visa and I checked the CDJ number since I had two diffrent numbers for the I-129F and the I-130.

Should I ignore the stuff for the I-130 from here on out or should I continue with the process even though she is here in the US now.

    Thanks in advanced.

  7. Visa Journey has been a great help like everyone says if it seems like an easy case with nothing that can cause a roadblock you should be fine. Just double check and triple check all documents to ensure everything is done right.

I did everything by myself and currently I am waiting for my wife's interview in Juarez tomorrow. Good luck with everything everyone is very helpful just ask.

  8. thanks for the info I am filling out both and I am giving my wife everything in a binder with clear sheet protectors so she can hand out what she will need.

I have a question for either of you were if says if I have filled a Affidavit of Support or a Visa Petition do I include my wife again, she is the only person I have filled one out for

  9. Hey guys as the date of my wife's interview nears I am filling out the documents needed and as I was filling out the information required. I obviously dont have much money in the account because of the wedding but I have a good job I am a high school teacher and have made 46K+ every year. what are your opinions do you think I might need to ask my dad to co-sponsor me to avoid getting a red flag or should i just go for it as is???

  10. about the money... even though it will be an issue since I got drained for the wedding I want to do what ever is the fastest method to bring my wife here, so be that i have to pay that amount then so be it.

Yes both my I-129F and I-130 forms were accepted on the same day i got the letters for both on the same day and with the same post date. I don't know why it worked out that way or if their is a glitch in the system but well see what happens.

I called the DoS hot-line and asked to verify if this documentation and appointment was for the K-3 and he responded yes, don't be late and good luck. SO know I'm looking at all the other things I will need.

I was looking at the vaccinations and their prices WHOA!!! these clinics are making some money!!!

  11. Hey guys so I have seen all this talk about the K-3 Visa being closed by the NVC and all but something odd came in the mail this past Sat. I got a Letter from Dept. of State, stating that my petition will be sent to the Consulate this week. They gave me a case number and all.

I was preparing to get denied and go the IR-1/CR-1 path but now not sure if this is a good thing or not. Since they gave me a new case number and all is this a good tihng and does it mean my K-3 Visa will be moving forward????
