  1. Doesn't surprise me - as long as they have it, that's what matters.

That's true. I just wish I knew how long before they send it out to the Bangkok embassy! My fiance is chomping at the bit ;)

Call NVC every few days. They might not know anything today, but perhaps tomorrow or the next day. I myself called every 2 or 3 days until they told me that the case was on its way to BKK.

I called yesterday and a woman told me it was in "Additional Processing" with no specified end date. I called today and got the same woman who told me it was sent out yesterday ;)

I think the customer service reps really only know if it's at NVC or not, or sent out or not. Anything else is hit or miss.

    Either way, YEAH!

  2. Hey DaveTx...great timing and congrats! 55 days...not bad!

Ya...that would probably be enough..I think that is about how many I turned in...it helps if they are pictures from different days of the week/locations...so they don't think that you just snapped 25 in one day...but instead actually spent time with her.

Took off two days from work to stain my deck...but it won't stop raining...oh well...guess I'll just be lazy

    Peace to Thais!

Thanks! Two are from a previous trip with her to Angkor Wat in July and the rest are from the last week. Different clothes and backgrounds are in enough of them I hope. I saved my boarding passes from this trip too but I don't know if the embassy cares about the "documentary" evidence like USCIS does.

I showed her the USCIS email but she didn't believe it. She wanted to see it change on Igor's list. I told her that Igor's list comes from the timeline data that I enter but she was adamant. I updated my timeline on my phone and when she went home and saw it on Igor's lists--- then she believed me!

  3. Yeah! NOA2 after 55 days and I got the email for it on my phone while sitting in Suvarnabhumi with my fiance before I went to passport control. She still is not sure I was serious!

My question: I have about 25 photos of us together including 1 with us and her mother. Should that be enough for the Bangkok embassy at her interview? We also have phones logs, chat logs, and email but my understanding is that photos are much more compelling.

    Thanks!

When in Texas, How does drivers license work?

Can I just give them my Canadian License (ontario) and get a Texas license?

I'm not sure about texas driving license procedures.

I think the actual procedure is something close to trading in your Canadian license. I don't think you have to take a test or anything. More info: https://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/tolapp/txdl/welcome.dl

  5. g clearly the SO can also call u under the same subscription .?

I have unlimited plan on my cell phone now so that would be excellant..

Does it keep track so u can print copies for the interview?

Skype-to-go is like a normal local call for you home/cell phone so it uses your normal minutes-- free if you are unlimited.

Yes, it does keep a log of all your calls which you can download and print out.

The 5.95 is for one country for one month. I think all countries on their list is 12.95 a month-- there are about 40 countries and Thailand was a fairly recent addition. Note that for some countries you can only call landlines and not cell phones.

It's nice knowing you can call your Teerak whenever you want and talk as long as you want and it's 5.95 a month ;p

  6. Well, sort of. It was actually closer to 2 months. If you look at my timeline and/or signature, you'll see that it is unclear when my NOA1 was initially sent out. I sent in the app from Thailand, and at the time I had my mail forwarded at my address in the U.S.. Apprently this is a no-no and the NOA1 was not delivered to the forwarded address and was returned to USCIS. They didn't get around to sending out a new NOA1 until February and that one had a more recent date stamp on it. Still, 2 months is pretty good. I think I did get lucky, but our case was pretty straightforward, neither of us have common names which seem to sometimes result in AP if someone else with your name has a sketchy background (or so I've heard), etc, etc. I don't have any concrete evidence that anything specific made it a shorter run for us, so I'm going with: a lot of luck and a little planning.

I see. No common name for us either, no previous marriages, and no kids so I'm hoping to get lucky =p

I've found skype-to-go with the subscription for Thailand calls to have better sound quality most of the time than calling direct did for what it's worth. Webcam is kind of nice too... 100hours of internet on a cell phone in thailand with AIS is only 370 baht. She can tether the cell phone to a laptop and you can do video calls.

  7. Skype Subscription for Thailand is $5.99 a month for unlimited calls....

Correct. And you can also you "Skype-To-Go" for no extra charge to make unlimited calls to Thailand as part of your $5.95/month subscription directly from your cell phone. This is particularly useful since it isn't that fun to sit in front of a computer talking and the devices you can use with Skype are limited in number and expensive.

Wow Ray... you got NOA1 to NOA2 in one month? I just sent in my paperwork to VSC on Wednesday. Did you just get really lucky? (Or am I stupid and missing something)
