  1. Aya,

I would totally take sharifah up on her generous offer. Its probably the most stress free one. No hassles with the consulate/DHL no wondering about red flags.....

I'm seriously considering Shrifah's kind offer, Lisa.. Thank you for your advice xxx (F)

Hi Aya....I'm also here in Egypt waiting on packet 3....from what i know about DHL delivery here in Egypt, if the packet is in your name, you have to be there to sign for it....DHL ask for ID before the let u have the packet...so if the persons whose name is on the packet is not there they will not release the packet.

I think u should try to have it held....thats what I'm doing because i changed addresses and i don't want the packet to get lost...so DHL will hold and call me when it gets there.

    Hope this helps. :)

  2. Hi :)

Did any of the DCF'ers that filed in egypt this summer recieve your packet 3 from the embassy using the tracking number from the petitioner interview. and also did it track normally....were you able to see that it left the facility and so on or did it just show up as delivered. thanks for any replys.

    Serena

    im waiting ur help guys

    and again THank GOD

congrats :). did your congressman tell you what took them so long. i found out by calling DOS last week that they had been processing our petition in the wrong visa category (as a F3-1) instead of IR-1. if they had not given me that case number and i had not decided to call DOS after getting the run around in cairo i would never have found out that this was happening.

The DOS didn't have our case, but they could see information on it in their system and they told us that the embassy was processing the petition wrong. We made another appt with the embassy to see what was going on and they admitted that it was being processed incorrectly. they said they fixed it...but im so paranoid now i don't know whether to believe them or not. we'll see i guess. good luck though.

  4. Hi everyone.

I am relatively new here and I have learned a lot about the immigration process thru VJ. But there are many things that are still pretty fuzzy especially about DCF and the DOS.

Before i get into my questions...i will give a little background. My name is Serena and i am the beneficiary in the petition...my husband ibrahim is the petitioner. We came to egypt together about 5 years ago for my husband to study arabic and quran. I was a LPR in america since i was 15 (i neglected to acquire citizenship during this time  ). Found out a little too late to do anything about it that i may have a hard time re-entering the US as a LPR. so here we are applying for spousal visa. We have been married since 1994 and have four children, 1 born here in egypt. We applied using DCF to cairo and since then the embassy has been saying that the petition is pending mandatory processing. at first i assumed this was just paperwork and within a week or two (according to vj timelines) i would recieved my packet 3. well its been about 2 months now and no packet 3.

I just called DOS after reading that some members were able to get info on their ap from them, and DOS tells me that their systems shows my packet was mailed out on 6-22-09. this is the same day that we filed the petition at cairo. She also tells me that they did not have my apartment number in their database...does this sound right to anyone???? is it possible that cairo sent my packet 3 and if they did why would they keep telling me every week that we are pending AP

Thanks for any replys in advance.

  5. well

i just want to tell everyone that we called the embassy and as i was expected

there is nothing wrong with ur case and its AP and the I-130 dont expire in case u follow up and send emails and keep following ur case.

and there is nothing called AP is only when u recieved pack 3 cause we can do AP from the time of the petition till u issue ur visa ...there is no time frame and there is no steps for when we can do the AP or not.

just be on hold and follow up with emails and wait until we update u with the next step.

    and Raina4gy is right

some ppl with some name + religion + place of birth can have a long time processing more then anyone

and its different from one to another like the lady said in the embassy (someone can have his package in 1 week another have it in 1 year)

and my name can be writin in many different ways like (haytham-haissam-haisam-hayssam) + my place of birth is Saudi arabia (even i didnt spend more then 6 months there and the rest of my life is in Egypt) + muslim

i think this can give me a big while to check ........

i may have hits on my name in fbi namecheck or anything else i donno .....

all i have to do like the lady said (and i think that she was an old lady after the operator sent me to her)....wait until we email u for the next step.

i really cant find another reason ... cause im cleaaaaaaaar and what put me insane that they didnt even approve or deny my case ........isnt crazy?

and i think i will wait for the congressman to answer me even he will do nothing at least we show that we follow up our Sh**t

I think even though our cases are similar being that the petition is stuck on the petitioner's end....there must be more going on with your case b/c the petitioner is female (is she muslim by birth???). and from most of my research, even though some females are put on AP it is generally not very long. I don't think the AP is on you at the moment b/c the petition has not been approved yet and you have not signed or handed in any paperwork for yourself (except the 325g and copy of your passport). Like ihavequestions said they will not do security checks on you without a signed visa application. thats how i know i'm not the one being investigated right now.

Your case has been pending a long time now so your congressman is the only person that may be able to help you....i'm not in that situation yet....hopefully i won't be.

    Good Luck

  6. Unfortunately, I find the OP post quite similar to my sitution...DH and I filed DCF on 6-22-09. DH is the USC and we have been told so far that our case is "Pending Mandatory Administrative Processing". Not sure what's being processed, but i have called, emailed and check DHL religiously. I also have my case number which was emailed to me in response to one of my status update email.

So it looks like a USC can be put on AP. :(. This does not have anything to do with relationship issues as we have been married for over 10 years with four children.

This shouldn't make sense because USCs are never put in AP because we don't have to apply for visas to go home; we have citizenship and don't need to.

Here's a summary of the process in Cairo for DCF:

1.) USC submits I-130, has an interview, and the petition is either approved or denied.

2.) If it's approved, the Embassy sends packet 3. The visa application, medical form, etc., all of the other hoop-tee-doo the intending immigrant spouse has to have completed prior to an interview appointment.

3.) The intending immigrant spouse returns the completed packet 3.

4.) The Embassy sends a letter with the intending immigrant spouse's interview appointment.

5.) The intending immigrant spouse has their interview and they are either approved or denied or neither because there are other checks that have to happen before a decision can be made (AP, AR, home visits, the USC has to establish/re-establish domicile, etc.).

Until the intending immigrant spouse receives the visa application in packet 3, signs it, and returns it to the Embassy, they haven't applied for anything so there's no reason to be put in AP. Seriously, why would the US governement waste resources doing exhaustive backround checks on someone who may change their mind and decide not to immigrate after all?

The case number is assigned when the USC makes the appointment to submit the I-130 and it's on the appointment letter the Embassy sends.

Everything that you say i agree with 110%. They only explanation i can come up with, is that because of my husband's name (ibrahim, and they do perform security checks on petitioners also), he may have had hits on his name in fbi namecheck. only thing i can think of. also most spousal petitions filed in Egypt or for Egyptians are by USC wives filing for husbands so that the AP (for muslim males) is usually on the back end (after interviewing). we haven't even made it that far yet b/c petitioner is the muslim male (with a common muslim name).

  7. How do you even have a case number if you never got packet 3? I got my packet three in a week? Have your wife call and that numbe and yes you will be on hold for a long time ..call after 1 oclock but no later then 4...Give them your name and supposed case number..There is no way your in AP yet

..Im here with my husband so is I have questions...So I think we know what were talking about..

Show this thread to your wife...Let her read it then she can decide how to proceed! Your congress man cant do a darn thing till your paper work is filed!
