  1. We did have to show my husband's birth certificate at the interview. Didn't you send a copy of it as well with all your paperwork? I would suggest you find the way to get a new one (requesting your BC for a USC is very easy - http://www.vitalchek.com/ this is a good website to use). But if you were not born here, try to contact your local offices. They might issue you an RFE at the interview

  2. Hello everybody!

First of all, congratulations to everyone getting along with their GC process! I know that while you're in it, it feels like it's taking forever. But don't forget that there WILL BE a good end to it, just stay positive!

Me and my husband had our interview on the 10/20 in Helena, MT. It went really well, I definitely was over nervous about everything. I even confused the names of my husband and his dad! (My husband's middle name is his father's first name so I said the wrong name for some reason). After I said it out loud, I realized my mistake and corrected myself. But after that I thought that for sure she is going to interview us much more detailed to catch something. My husband gave me the funniest look when he heard me say the wrong name. *Take a deep breath* type of look. :) And we are living with his parents right now! Anyway, after that I relaxed and everything went well. We showed all the pictures and evidence we brought with us and it obviously was enough because the officer told us we were approved without us even asking anything. I now am waiting for my green card. (Still do not feel like the process is finished until I am holding it in my hands though). Will keep you posted!

Again, good luck to everyone. (With jobs as well)

And thank you for all the support and advice everyone on this forum provided to me.

  3. I am a Ukrainian citizen, and married an U.S. Citizen. Right now, I am in the process of adjusting my status, and me and my husband thought it was a good time to travel to Kiev to visit my family. (I used my travel permit). Travel permit was in my married name, and passport - in maiden. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT!

    My recommendations:

Book the ticket in the name your wife's passport is in! (Because in the U.S. you will have no problem with a certified marriage license, but in Russia they might not accept this document as a proof of a name change.)

When the tickets are in the maiden name, the only time your wife will need the marriage certificate is when she will be coming back to the U.S. at the passport control.

So no worries, she will be ok!

Another thing I would recommend though, which I did myself as well:

Once she is at home, dedicate some time to making the marriage certificate official in Russia. It was not hard to do at all for me. I went to a company that does translations and gave them my marriage certificate. For about 20 dollars person that is licensed to make translations, translated the document into Ukrainian and then for additional 10 dollars they notarized my translation with a local notary. I then took the notarized translation into my passport office and they had no problem accepting it - I got a stamp in my Ukrainian passport that I am married and got a new passport issued under my married name.

    Good luck!

  4. Hello everyone!

Like some of you know, I am right now in my home country of Ukraine with my husband, so didn't have as much time as at home to look through the forum. But congrats to everyone on their cases moving along!

I wanted to share good news with you all! My parents-in-law sent me an e-mail today that I got a letter with my interview date!! FINALLY! I was already getting so nervous. It is scheduled for Oct-20. It is ways away for now, but at least now I have a specific date to look forward to and prepare for. It is almost month away from everyone else with the same timelines, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that I am on a F-1 visa, rather than K-1 visa.

  5. Hello everyone!

I am writing from Ukraine as I am visiting here with my family.

Congratulations to everyone getting their GCs, that's awesome news! And thanks for sharing your stories with us!

As to me, nothing new here, still no interview letter (I have people check our mail in the U.S.) Have NO idea what's going on and am tired of stressing out about it... Not I am the "Forgotten One" :)

  6. Congratulations to everyone on their GC approval!! And thank you for posting your interview experience, it is very helpful for the rest of us!

As to me, I STILL DID NOT get my interview date. I am really worried and don't know what to do. I just hope that it wasn't lost in the mail and I am going to miss it because of that :crying: :crying: :crying: Or that there are some problems with my case..

It could be that your local office is overloaded and taking a long time to schedule appointments. On the other hand, if you do have an interview scheduled and the letter was lost, I think the only way to know is to make an infopass appointment and ask them. Apparently the local offices make the appointments but do not share the information with anyone else in USCIS. After trying for days to get someone at USCIS to correct their scheduling mistake (Bella and the kids scheduled for different days) we finally made an info pass appointment, made the long drive and got things straightened out quickly.

Thank you for your advice! I also thought that the local office should know something, but I was wrong. I made an infopass appointment, and the lady said that she cannot get any information on the interview schedule. So she said I should just wait some time (and it took me 2.5 hours one way to get to my office) I don't know what I should be doing, I am obviously behind everyone else's timelines by probably a couple of weeks at least. :(

    Troy/Anita, congratulations!

marry, I would still take both EAD and AP with you, and then insist on getting your passport stamped. As far as I know, as soon as you are done with the interview and get your green card approved, your AP is not valid any more. Because when you enter POE, they check the status on your case. Good luck with your travel, me and my husband are going to travel to Ukraine in less than a week ourselves and are going to use my AP.

  8. Congratulations! I know how much you were waiting for the news!! And got so much news in one day! Don't be nervous, you'll do great and everything will be over sooner than you think ;)

I am officially worried. EVERYONE is getting their interview letters right after AP/EAD approved-received in the mail. It has been plenty of time since I received mine in the mail, and still no interview letter. And I needed it so bad, because my husband and I are planning a trip to Ukraine and need to know the date. I even made an INFOpass appointment for today, but they didn't know anything. Just said that the local office has nothing to do with this dates, and they cannot tell me why I still have not gotten it. I am slowly losing my mind :crying:

I am going to my local office in a few hours (first appt. 8:00am) to discuss my issues w/ the 2 applications, one stuck, one rejected. Oh USCIS... why are you so cruel to me?

Someone has to know if you have an appt. date... One of my questions: If I never got an appointment letter or if I did and it was thrown away, how do I know I need to show up? In whose system does my name show up to be PRESENT on X day at Y time?

The lady at my local office said that they are not the ones setting the dates, and so they have the access to the same information that we have (online). So since the interview dates are not reflected in the online status anyhow, I won't be able to find out the date any how, but by a letter in the mail. I was so mad. It takes me 2.5 hours to drive to my local office and all I got was "I dont know". But anyway, I called the 800 number also, and the lady on the phone told me that they are going to be able to tell me anything about the interview dates only if my case is outside the timeline on my online status. (On July 15th, they resumed my case after an RFE and I should be expecting to hear something within 60 days). So in other words, if by September 15th I don't get anything, only then will they answer my questions. And if my mail got lost, and the interview was supposed to be on Aug 30 for example, then I am ... going to miss it I guess.

  9. Hi guys!

I got my EAD + AP Today in the mail!!!

I didn't bother to look through the rest of the mail and my husband 2 hours later went to throw out flyers and saw another letter!

My interview is set for Sep 21st!!

    NERVOUS ALREADY!!! :o

Congratulations! I know how much you were waiting for the news!! And got so much news in one day! Don't be nervous, you'll do great and everything will be over sooner than you think ;)

  10. I don't know if it is for all local offices, but today my field office (Helena, MT) updated their processing times on USCIS website and now as of June 30, 2009 they are processing March-02 for I-485.

Did any of your local office dates get updated?

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplay.do

Our field office is Mt. laurel, NJ. They show that they are currently processing 485's from Feb 12, 2009. Given that our NOA1 date is June 19th and our interview is scheduled for Aug 28th, I assume the posted time frames are a little off. I don't know if this is an updated timeframe or not because I never looked at that information before today.

However, I do remember from our K1 days that they always post the date of the oldest application they are still processing. If they have a problem case that takes forever to adjudicate, it makes the timeframes look much worse than they really are.

Correction. I see that the information was last updated on June 30th so it is a month and half out of date.

Yes, I know that, but as far as I remember the processing times before used to be as of May 30th, so that's why I mentioned the update.

Anything that makes me think they are getting closer to my case is good news to me

  11. No interview date today...

I have a question. I noticed that a lot of people called USCIS and discussed their issued over the phone with someone. What number were you using and how did you get to a human being? I call 1-800 number and cannot figure out how to reach someone to ask a question. And also, is there a way to call your local office directly? - they are the ones setting interview dates, right?!

    Thank you for your advice!

  12. I still haven't received my EAD. I got two card production emails, one on July 28th and the other on July 31st. It is now August 12th and nothing in the mail yet. Not even my appointment date for my interview. I am getting a tad bit frustrated.

I am in the same situation. They sent me 3 e-mails about the EAD but nothing in the mail yet.I didn't get an interview letter either and I see a lot of people with similar timelines gat either the GC or the interview letter already.I know how you feel but try to stay positive and hope for good news soon.Good Luck to all of us who are still waiting!

Similar story here. Only I already received my AP and EAD a couple of days ago, and still did not get an interview letter. I am noticing that others are getting theirs right after e-mail approval notices. I have an actual AP and EAD on hand already, and no sign of interview letter. My days now revolve around mail delivery time. :crying:

  13. Another e-mail from CRIS.Approval notice sent for EAD.I hope I'll get the EAD and AP soon.

    Good luck everyone!!!

You will probably get it within a couple of days, if not tomorrow. I got my EAD yesterday in the mail already and today got an e-mail that my approval notice was sent. Confusing..

But I got it already, so am not going to worry about it.

I'm waiting to get my interview date any day hopefully.

    Good luck to everyone!

winifredbee, congratulations again, I bet it's a good feeling!! B)

  14. SurfingPumpkin and shashar, it was great getting to know your stories!! Thanks for sharing!

    GRRR .... :crying:

I'm sorry to hear that! On the good note though, you will know that whatever it is that you get with be ALL that CRIS needs for your GC to be approved! I bet it all will be over for you by the end of this month!! Good luck and let us know what happens.

  15. I'm starting to feel a little left out here

    Me too :(

Aha...company ..I fell better now

    hahahaha!

We should give ourselves a name

    "The Forgotten Ones"

I was with you only a couple of days ago, and just one day brought most of the news for me.

All of you will soon be hearing news, VERY SOON!! Stay positive

To get our minds off this for a little while, we could discuss something off-topic. Like, how did you and your husband/wife meet?! I LOVE romantic stories (which all of ours are, since it ended in Happily Ever After..) :luv:

Me and my husband met at the university, he was enrolled in the same program as me. We started dating a month after first meeting each other. He says he knew right away that he is going to marry me and I choose to believe this story

  16. I just got the second email regarding the EAD. It seems to be the norm. It also resulted in another touch.

Same here..Maybe that just means that our cards were made, and today they mailed them?! Just a guess..

Congrats on receiving your AP's! I would carry both with me when I travelled. I really think you only need one because once it is stamped at the POE you can use it again and again, if you applied for multi trips!! I have heard people say that the officer keeps one copy and gives you the other stamped, but I have also heard they only enter information into their system from the form. I have also heard of people receiving only one so I would assume(dangerous word) they could make a copy if they needed it.

I do not know what to tell you about the address...I don't want to guess and the information is incorrect.

Thank you!! I think that is exactly what I will do, take both of them with me when I travel, and then whatever happens, happens..

As to the address, I am thinking about not doing anything about it, AP is not that important, I doubt they would make a big deal out of it at POE, if notice 1 letter missing at all. Unless someone gives me some other advice, I'll just not worry about it

  17. Congratulations everyone on all the news!

chadherm, that's great, all the waiting is behind you now!

I have some news myself! Today I got mail from USCIS and I thought it would be an interview letter, but it turned out to be my AP. It took them 2 days to get it delivered to me, very impressive!

I have a couple of questions for you guys:

    1) I got two identical APs and I was wondering why I need two copies of it? Is it just a mistake or should I take both of them with me when I travel?

    2) I noticed that my address is spelled wrong (one letter is missing) and I don't know how big of a deal it is. I went back and checked all my NOAs, and the address is spelled correctly on all of them, but AP. I didn't even notice it back then, got 5 all at the same time and just assumed the address would be spelled the same?!

So on all other documents I should have the correct address, so I was wondering whether you think it is a big deal, or if I should just ignore it, it's not like my name is spelled wrong.. Don't really know what to do.

  18. I know the feeling. I just looked and there was a touch on my AP yesterday. I am assuming that means they put it in the mail. All other applications are the same. Good Luck to all and Congrats again marry.

This is really strange, you and I got approved for EAD and AP at the same day, and since reading your post I checked USCIS and I had a touch on AP yesterday as well!! Glad to see some movement!

Congratulations to everyone on their progress, we are moving along quite well!!
