  1. The only thing I'm worried about is if they don't accept my RFE response because that happened to someone here on VJ for the same thing...but many others have been fine. We'll see!

If that was the case, they would tell you that there was not enough evidence or smth like that, and you would be able to see it on the website (since you sent your RFE quite some time ago already).

I know it's easier said than done, but I don't think you should worry about it.

    P.S. Congratulations Cate!!

  2. I was wondering if they sent you an email when they actually sent out the RFE or if you only got it in the mail. We sent our response with delivery confirmation too, so we saw when it was delivered to the PO Box. Either way, we finally know they got it. This was on the website for our case for today:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On July 16, 2009, we received your response to our request for evidence.

Yay! Hope they work through the weekend for all of us!!

Oh, sorry, I didn't understand you well.

I signed up for updates at USCIS website only on the 6th of July, so I didn't get an email update from them (the RFE was sent to me on Jul 05), BUT when they sent out RFE, I first found out about it through the website, because it said that on a certain date they sent out the request for evidence. There was no word though on what it was about specifically, I had to wait for an actual letter in the mail to learn about that.

Hope it answers your question! And congratulations on having your case resumed, that's great!!

  3. I just got an e-mail that my RFE was received yesterday, and case processing has been resumed!!! YAY!

Thank you all for your answers!!

shefellfromheaven, you're right, patience is our best friend right now, but it's really hard sometimes... :)

Congrats Panna  ...Now we need to hear from DavChels.

Yea, I haven't heard anything yet. Oh well.

Panna, did you get an email saying an RFE had been sent out? If so, I know that mine just isn't being updated...just as it didn't for K-1 either.

When I sent RFE back to them, I sent it with delivery confirmation, so I knew by checking USPS website that my package was delivered on Monday. And just today I got an e-mail update on my file that they received it and will resume my case. Hope that answers your question, if not - let me know.

And yes, they probably get so many packages all the time that it takes them plenty time to make sure everything was received that they asked for and update your case, so don't worry!! I'm sure you'll hear from them VERY soon

  4. Congrats to all, whose application is moving along!!!!

I have a question: I received a RFE last Wednesday, and sent it to them on Friday with delivery confirmation. USPS says that the package was delivered on Monday, but I still have not gotten an update that my case was resumed. Is it normal to take a couple of days to see whether they received all the evidence they needed?! I am starting to worry about it...

Thank you good luck to all of you!

  5. Congrats to all who got good news today, and welcome to the new folks!

    Some do not need interviews.

Panna - I think it's the people who are adjusting from K visas who sometimes don't need to get interviewed again since they were already interviewed at the consulate. On the other hand, people like you (adjusting from F-1) and me (adjusting from H-1B) will have to do this interview though, since we have not been previously interviewed in connection with our bona fide relationship with our spouse.

I have spent hours looking at timelines trying to predict when the interview might be, and it has been futile. Some people do get interviewed 2 - 2 1/2 months after filing; some wait several months more - it varies case by case. I would wait until receipt of the interview letter (which would still be a good month or so before the interview), or book now if you can change the reservation later.

Thank you for your advice! That is exactly what we decided to do also, I would just be too stressed all the time if we booked now.. I have a feeling that if we made a reservation, the interview would have been scheduled right in the middle of our stay in Ukraine :) Just the law of luck or smth :)

shefellfromheaven, Congratulations on your EAD and AP!! That's great news!

  6. Happy Monday! Any touches or updates? My RFE response still hasn't even been delivered and I sent it on the 7th :( Oh well...patience, right?!?!

It surely is a Happy Monday for me today. Got my EAD card in the mail today. A heads up for the laddies who haven't done there biometrics....make sure you don't have a bad hair day on the day of your appointment. My hair was every were... and that's exactly the pic they put on my card. Now, interview letter next.

They use the picture from biometrics appointment?! Uhh.. I thought it'd be the one we send them with the application. Well, I can't wait to see what it will look like! (and unfortunately, I have a feeling I am not going to be happy with that photo :) But oh well...

I sent my RFE on Friday, and keep checking the tracking number, and it only shows that it has been accepted by the post office. I can't wait to get the letter in the mail that our case is resumed!!

Good luck to everyone and happy Monday!

  7. Panna,

Welcome! You could look at the threads for March, April, May filers for AOS to see what has happened with their interviews. I think it takes about 2 months but I am not too sure. It does vary from case to case. Some do not need interviews. Air fare is pretty low right now so you could make the reservations and pay the change fee if needed...but that would depend on what kind of deal you get. Good Luck!!

Love your photo. The little kitten looks like our cat Mini. We brought her back to the States with us from Nicaragua. She is a calico and was only 5 weeks when she came running into our house.

    Thank you for your "welcomes"!!

And thank you for your advice, I do start to lean towards the idea of waiting for the letter to arrive with our interview date, and then booking a ticket. Saving some money on a ticket, but having to worry all the time about a possible problem with an interview date is not worth it for me. :)

I just found this photo on the Internet, there are not many things in the world that are cuter that little kittens in my opinion! :)

I love calicos, there are very sweet. How did she take the trip? We have a hard time getting our cat to the vet sometimes, I couldnt imagine her on the airplane!

  8. Hello everyone!

This is the first time I make a post here, as I discovered this web-site just yesterday. Great work! It is so encouraging to read other people's stories, who are going through the same thing as us, very interesting! I am now happy to be part of this community!

As you can see in my signature, we sent our application on Jun-16, and yesterday I had my biometrics taken. Everything was very fast, even though I was a little disappointed that no one could answer my questions there. The thing is that me and my husband are planning to go to Ukraine this September, and I was wondering if there is some kind of timeline we can be expecting to have our interview at. I read that it is not recommended to reschedule your interview date, so I want to be sure that we are in the U.S. But I wasn't able to find out at least approximately when we should be expecting our interview date, so we can plan better. Or if it's not possible to predict at all, we might just wait until we get the interview date to book tickets. (The reason why I wanted to book earlier though is because it is much cheaper in advance, as you all know). I would appreciate if any of you could give me any advice as to when the interview could be.

The spreadsheet is very nice, I will add myself to it in a second.

Thank you for all your help, and good luck to everyone!

    Natasha
